Re(3): why u do not play poker drunk....
Here is what I've been known to do when I know I'm going to go out and get smashed: Step 1: I change my passwords to something really arbitrary before I go out. Step 2: I write them down on a piece of paper and give it to my wife or I don't write them down at all. Step 3: When I get home (if I get home), I can't remember my passwords and I know better than to wake my wife up to get them. Step 4: If I didn't write them down, I spend most of the next day hungover contacting various support from different sites in order to get my passwords. Step 5: Rinse and repeat!

Re(1): Suggestions for trip to Vegas
While I"m still thinking about this topic, and I'm doing my last browse of the night after studying...checkout . Do a search for vegas hotels, and see if they they have what you are looking for. Try to find a top 20 hotel in your price range. There is nothing like reading actual visitors of these hotels accounts of their stay. Ignore the really bad reviews, they usually were just disgruntled big losers on the floor. Good luck on your plans and your gaming while in vegas!

Re(4):Long response, but I wish someone had written one for me
Yeah for sure! I was lucky enough to marry someone that let me take her on a belated honeymoon to Vegas for the WSOP. The aged sirloin is one of the most fantastic meals I've ever eaten. It rivaled some of the kobe beef I've had in more expensive restaurants. Make a reservation ahead of time (you don't need one) and tell them it is a special occasion. I will go back.

In my experience of higher education a tenured professor can get away with damn near anything short of whipping out a dildo and shoving it in a student's ass to demonstrate the importance of the columns of Morgagni. I would definitely wait until after the semester, and complain anonymously. You would be amazed at the shitstorm that can follow when you get a reputation for causing teachers trouble.

Re(3):Long response, but I wish someone had written one for me
Spamalot is done totally Vegas style. I'm neither into Monty Python nor Broadway type productions. It was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen. I would pay to see it again. If your wife doesn't mind flesh, MGM's la femme was tasteful and entertaining. There is a lot free and entertaining things to see on the strip. If you both like thrill rides, try the Stratosphere. I can't remember which place has the dolphin experience, but being from New Zealand that may not interest you. MGM is full of fish, but on most days you need to tip the cocktail staff $10 on the first round if you want to be ...

Re(1):Long response, but I wish someone had written one for me
General Info People don't often answer these questions, but I'm sick of studying and think I have something to offer. I found it best to book everything separately. If you are going to be doing some touristy (did I coin that word') stuff, I would definitately rent a car. Vegas is pretty easy to get around, and cab fares will eat you alive if you want to move around and see different things / play different rooms. Search a local travel agency for the cheapest flights. I would also check out for flights (not sure if they do international. Buy tickets to any shows in advance directly from the ...

If you are in college, and the teacher is tenured; do nothing. If she is not tenured, and you do not have this teacher in the future; wait until the class is over and bring the issue of her publicly ridiculing you in front of your classmates to her superiors. This is unprofessional and unacceptable in an educational environment. I wouldn't try to rationalize what you do to those that are ignorant on the matter. It is a waste of time 9/10 times. Your original point of being in class instead of playing more does suck. School sucks. I'm in grad school, and only about 30% of my class time is ...

Yeah, man I had 6 tables going and a wife bitching about dishes and laundry. I slapped her, told her to do the dishes, and hastily typed a reply. I was more concerned that my poor writing skills made me come across in a bad light. The thread wouldn't permit a reply within the thread itself, otherwise it would have been there. I'm pretty well done with the topic as well. Thanks for the clarification. Take care ape, and good luck. PS: No I did not slap my wife. I kindly requested a BJ and a nice meal (standard protocol in my house). Oh well, at l got to eat some steak!

Re(5): i'm drunk and would like to know if any good players actually learned poker by themselves and not w/ the help of someone like jj, etc.
Well said jester. I'm not half the player that many of the young guns in poker are. However, I'd love to share some life lessons with them regarding character, integrity, etc (and have them listen) so that the future of poker doesn't relagate itself back to the dark ages of poker. Poker is about more than knowing what move to make and when. That said, I'm a winning cash player. I pay most of my bills with poker winnings, along with the occassional toy. I play mostly live in Florida now. I multitable smaller stake NLHE online. I'm a full time grad student that is preparing for board exams so ...

Waco, first of all much respect to all of your recent accomplishments. However, just because you are in the know, or more in the know than the average player, does not make it right. I quit (almost entirely) playing tourneys long ago once I noticed drastic changes in player tendencies deep into tourneys that went beyond simply "switching gears". It would only be fair for EVERYONE to know what is going on. Most of us lower limit grinders that occasionally get a shot at a big score would very much like to not be playing against a top pro that appears to be the same guy that donked his way into ...

Re(2): Write offs and poker
I would like to caution anyone that plays online poker and files as a pro to think twice about deducting a room in their house for "business". Even if you keep 2 laptops, a desktop, and a 61" 1080p Samsung DLP (brag) that you use as a monitor. Writing off part of your mortgage/rent as a business expense is a red flag for an audit. Your wife/gf better not keep clothes in the closet in that room. You better not have any exercise or entertainment equipment in there that is unrelated to your business. Many honest, law abiding citizens get fined every year for a few relatively minor infractions ...

Seal I'm all for this as long as the article doesn't make it look rampant, thus detering the fish from playing online at all. You are an excellent writer. Most online players do not cheat, but need to know that cheating occurs and how it is being done. You are a smart enough guy to put the facts out there without making online poker look like a bunch of scumbags. Let us know when and where it will be published. I'll buy a subscription. I'm sure you could increase sales substantially, but not at the expense of casting a dark shadow over online poker. I've always enjoyed reading anything you ...

I can't believe I'm giving advice to a USC guy after you guys pwned my HOGS in both pigskin and roundball for 2 years. That said, with your winnings over just the past month, you could find a professional writter in your area to write a rebuttal for you. As poker players, most of our talent lies in math, odds, logic, game strategy, bankroll management, etc. Most of us are not the best writers, and can come across arrogant, compulsive, or some other negative character trait when we write. There are some excellent writers that contribute here from time to time. Also, I'm sure you could find ...

I agree with you br with one caveat; the recent saga's "story" is a bit more believable than the granny story (I'm not in any way saying I buy it). My concern is this; What happens 30 years from now when the Barry Greenstein's are likely gone from the game' Poker players (live) at the highest level have an unwritten code of ethics that they follow. They would not be able to get any action if they didn't abide by it. Many of the younger gen players just want to get the money by any means possible. This code is lost upon many players. I'm not singling out the younger players (I'm only 31), but ...

Re(1): Would Getting Rid of Tranfers end Multiaccounting?
No it wouldn't stop multiaccounting. It would stop transfers on the site between the accounts, and limit the sites' ability to track relationships between possible multi-accounters and/or colluders by investigating their transfer history. There are other ways to move money from person to person. Cheaters are notorious for finding ways around nearly any countermeasure. I personally think preventing transfers would hurt the honest players more than it would deter the cheaters. However, I do wish it was that simple cmac.

Re(3): College Home Game - With Rake!
Do it on an event night (UFC, Football game, Boxing, Wresting, etc). Charge $100 (buyin) plus whatever you want to make per player (200 for 200 max, 300 - 500 for 500 max, etc). Charge for food and entertainment like many college "parties" do. Provide poker chips for entertainment / cash game poker. Payout accordingly for "door prizes" of cash once your guest have been entertained. As long as you are charging for something other than the poker service, you should be fine. Rebuys could be purchased at the door for extra chances at the "door prizes". Disclaimer: I'm no lawyer, but I attempted ...

Kind of like medicinal marijuana is determined by state law. How many times have the Feds kicked in doors of medicinal marijuana users doing something that is legal in their own states' I'm not going to site an aritcle, but it happens more than you'd think. I don't think they are going to be kicking in poker players doors, but they don't really have a law that prohibits us from doing what we are doing. They are fucking us in other ways (Neteller, bank transfers, checks, etc.) State law vs. Federal law issues have been and will continue to be F-ED up (Find any US history text to research this ...

Bluffing is a part of the games down there against the nitty older gentleman living on pensions and social security. Show them a bluff once and they are your's for life. The younger guys are your typical calling stations. The 1/2 NLHE $100 are CRAZY good in Florida right now! If your son has good emotional stability (little tilt factor), and knows the game give him $300 for his bday, and he will have a ball. I do agree with the tight play, but showing one bluff to a nit is a must in order to continue to get action. There is VERY little 2nd and 3rd level thinking happening at these tables. ...

Cheating on FTP
Ok, so I figured this headline would get some reads. Here goes: I'm sitting at one of the new legal NLHE games available in FL the other day. I'm sitting next to this guy (to remain nameless for now). He openly admits to colluding on FTP in 50+ SNG's. I don't let on that I find this highly offensive, and unethical. I can get his handle because he likes me (everyone likes me at the poker table ;-). My question is this: Should I try and get his FTP name and report it' He admitted that he and a buddy buy in to these SNG's and talk on the phone with intent to collude. He claimed a 9/10 1st or ...

Re(2): Seeking good responses from CASH game players.
$50 games maybe one 3rd level thinker, one 2nd level, all the rest are just thinking about their own hand. You can find 1000 buyin games that are similiar, but since the new laws these games are more easily found live. Most people playing online now WANT to play, and are willing to jump through several hoops to both deposit and withdraw. Live players only have to have a checking account, ATM card, and of course watched some ESPN poker to sit down live. I could go into more detail, but this has been covered in depth in previous posts.

Re(1): anybody else always get stuck at the beginning of a cash game session?
I know exactly what you are talking about. Pick one of the following each time to sit down at a table; if you play with good players don't pick the same one each time: 1) Play like a nit until you get a read on the table and pray the bad ones rebuy and/or don't leave. Say a second prayer that you don't get sucked out on when the donkey that didn't notice you hadn't played a hand in a week calls your all in w/ TPWK and hits. Play from here comes fairly simple. 2) Raise the first few pots and flops and show down trash (fold trash face up live) for as cheaply as possible. Of course sometimes ...

Lick it, stick it, and in big RED SHARPIE write: "RETURN TO SENDER, RECIPIENT NOT AT THIS ADDRESS". Have a friend write it, drive a few zipcodes away and drop in a mailbox. They are looking for easy catches. These guys don't like doing hard work any more than any one else. I'm no lawyer, but shit like this finds it's place in the same pile of mail as jury summons.
