Re(1): PLO8 what to do here
What he said. If you weren't in the big blind I wouldn't have even played this hand in the first place. No nut low, plus the nut straight means a low is on the board. Neither situation leads to you winning 100% of the pot!

Re(1): First post - a common problem I have
You're trying to play this hand out of position and doing it all the wrong ways. If you're intending to take this pot down with a bluff here's how you could change it: 1) Raise on the flop. He will fold rags but call/re-raise with a made hand. 2) If you call the flop, don't check the turn. He's now scared that if he bets again you will call him, so he opts to check and see a free card. Bet on the turn to show him you're not folding for cheap, and he will fold. Throughout the whole hand, you never know where you are. Is he bluffing or trapping' So why bet out on the river when the only hands ...

Hi-Lo Split Poker for Advanced Players by Ray Zee Probably the best book you'll find out there. The rest of them just prattle on about starting hands and nut lows and stuff most people already know about.

Re(1): LO8b the "right" way to play a hand? Big draws vs. made hands...A Discussion
There was no bad beat here. As it turned out you did have a lot of outs on the river, but this hand should have never escalated to this level. After the 4 bet on the flop, it is pretty obvious the guy has the made straight and is trying to push out any low/flush draws. You hit a Q on the turn, but it would be best to just check to mjw75 and call his bet (maybe bet once and then call his raise, but don't reraise). You also seem to forget that pokerschmo is still in the hand, and probably has A2, so your low draw is effectively busted. To answer the question you pose at the beginning, in this ...

Short-handed NL cash games, preferrably over the $2/$4 limit. If you try doing it with tournaments, SnGs, or limit cash games below $5/10, you're going to be making like $1 /hr.

Re(4): The Game of Omaha h/l
Ray Zee's book on Advanced Strategy for Omaha H/L (it's got Stud H/L in there too) was great for me. You obviously know the basics, but it gets you in the midset of the game a lot better. For example, know what types of hands do well multi-way and which are better heads up (A234 is better played in a large multi-way pot, so if your table isn't calling raises you shouldn't raise). Lots of other strategy analysis, great read.

Re(1): bottom set HU in PLO8
I feel like seeing as this IS the first hand, you should just call his raise to 60. See how he plays from there. He could have a huge wrap, top two, etc. Play small pot poker and get to the showdown, then when you see his hand, analyze how/why he played the way he did. Going all-in on the flop of the first hand without the nuts is not usually a smart play. Typing in "you got KKK or JJJ" basically gives your hand away so I would shy away from that as well.

Re(1): PLO H/L JUNKIES
Yeah I'd expect somebody playing a $100 buy-in O8/b tournament to know to fold that preflop when UTG +1. Maybe if you were double suited and it folded to you in the cutoff/button.... If you make the nut straight, there is a low on board (most likely), and if not, you don't have the nut straight, as was the case in this hand. Either way you are in bad shape.

Re(1): Semi-Newbie to PLO8b, tough hand for me
Well, it really depends on how you've seen this guy play. He just limped pre-flop, then check raised the flop and 2/3 pot bets the turn. In all likelihood, at the .25/.50 level, he just has an A. Even if he has AT, you have a Q to win the whole pot or a 4,5,6,7 to win the low. If he has 88, your boat outs are even greater. Very hard for me to fold there with your hand, unless this guy has shown skill in a previous hand.

Re(1): Calling Allin with JJ (WPT Live Satellite Mid Level)
When a player limps and then re-raises all-in, they usually aren't trying anything tricky. Think about it. He sees the first three players fold, he has QQ and wants action. 6 people left to act behind him. Limping might induce a button raise to try and steal the now slightly bigger pot. When you raise, he knows that he needs to go all-in preflop so that he doesn't have to make a tough decision if an A or K hits on the flop. Lucky for him you had JJ and only 2 outs to win. If he limped with a big Ace, he obviously doesn't want to get involved, so he wouldn't have reraised you all-in there ...

Re(1): toughest hand to play
I had JJ twice in about 5 hands in the UB 200K yesterday. First time, got in all-in preflop (I was pretty short) vs. AK and it held up. Second time, got in all-in preflop vs. AK, and the same guy nonetheless, and he spiked an A for an 8K pot. Hard to decide whether to push preflop, or wait and see a favorable flop. Both times I was out of position so I just pushed.

Re(3): Media owes Ramsey family an apology
He is not confirmed as the killer yet. No DNA evidence has been matched, his wife has an alibi for him, and while he has details of the murder not publicly released, some of his story does not match any accounts of the murder scene at all. For example, he says he drugged and raped Jon Benet, but no drugs, alcohol, or foreign substances of any kind were found in her body during the autopsy. Just saying, jumping to conclusions never helps anyone.

Re(3): OMAHA!
He should never fold that flop when it's only you two in the hand. He has the nuts, but he should be wary of an club or card that fills up a different straight. If the 6 didn't scare him, the board pair should have been enough to save him his last $22. Now if the hand had 3-4 people left, he might even have to fold the nuts on the flop, knowing that 2 players missing the turn AND river is highly unlikely. Rare, but sometimes folding the nuts in Omaha is correct. Just not heads up on the flop.

Re(12): Do you know an "underground" music snob, or worse, are you one yourself?!
If content and quality are lacking, I agree the song will suck. I'm not saying I will listen to any music and say, "OMG it is great!" I'm saying that if I like a new song that immediately earns me the lecture about the old songs. Does liking a newer album mean I automatically hate the old one' Pompous music snobs seem to think so. And that is a fatal error in logic.

Re(1): Hand in the 100k Freeroll, WWJD???
No reason to check that flop. If you're going to play AJ in that early of position, you have to bet out when you hit. Checking gleans no information from this guy, and all the info you have so far is that he called your 3x BB raise preflop, so he could have anything. If you bet the flop, and he raises, you'll probably re-raise all-in and lose. Still probably the right play. If you bet the flop, and he calls, then you bet again on the turn and if you get raised this time, you can give it up. Even on the turn you should be raising it to about 14000. That leaves you SOME room to back out on ...

Re(5): Stu Ungar story on ESPN RIGHT NOW!!!
I love the story of the guy he doesn't even know asking for $100, and he says, "If I'd have known his name I'd have given him $200." That said, this is one of those nature vs. nurture situations. He grew up in a bar with a bookmaker father. His mother died when he was relatively young. It's sad he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and decided cocaine was the answer. That's not to say he wouldn't have been exposed to it throughout his life in Vegas, but he said when he first saw it he had no idea what it was. Just sad....

Re(1): Low Limit Cash Game...should I fold to river bet? This situation seems to happen often
You bet on the flop, and he raised you. If you bet on the turn and he raises you again, I would definately fold on the river unless you hit the flush. Checking and calling gives you no info about his hand.

I forget what else was going on in this episode, but I remember the one where that chicken restaurant opens right across the street, and Kramer's apartment is flooded with red neon light. He can't sleep, so for some reason Jerry trades with him. Then Jerry comes back after a few days and is acting like Kramer cuz he's going nuts from the light..... Anybody remember what the main plot of that episode was'

Re(10): Do you know an "underground" music snob, or worse, are you one yourself?!
See, when somebody does the "have you heard their first album' It's way better", that's what gets to me. When I hear a song for the first time, I shut out everything about who the band is, where they're from, their past songs, and just listen to the song. What does it matter if Taking Back Sunday had a great first album, if you like the new song, that shouldn't factor into your equation. There shouldn't be the caveat of "well it's good, but not AS good..." Anyways, I'm glad the majority agrees for the most part. I had to get that off my chest, because living in a hippie/college town, I am ...

The episode where Jerry is at the Saab dealership. George's Twix gets stuck in the machine and he sets up a 'candy line-up' to prove Ned (Sal, or Tom, short name....) stole his Twix. Elaine and Putty break up because of the high-fiving, and him taking her to Arby's to celebrate their anniversary. And Kramer takes that guy out on the test drive trying to get the gas tank bone dry. Classic quote, "When we roll into that dealership and the tank is bone dry, they're gonna say 'MAN! Kramer and that-other-guy, they went further to the left of the slash than anybody's ever dreamed of!"

DISCLAIMER: I'm going to break my own rules and just state that I listen to any kind of music, from Dashboard Confessional to Iron Maiden, from Kelly Clarkson to Dilated Peoples, from Van Morrison to Montell Jordan (but not Nickelback, lol).
