Re(3): About ready to give up on online poker... Well for one, and if your interested, buy championship omaha by Cloutier and McAvoy. Its a very simple game when you understand the finer points. You have to play a much tighter game and fold alot of small sets, straights, and flushes. You have to be way more selective on your pre-flop hands. Where you will make a ton of money is where you punish people who don't understand the game. They will call off their entire stack with a low flush or straight when you have the nuts. One, two, or three successfull but patient hands of pl omaha will help your bankroll. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): About ready to give up on online poker... Master pot-limit omaha. It is very lucrative when your on a bad swing of beats on NL. I mean play really really tight and punish people who think two pair and sets are worth their stack. A small sized pot-limit game can be very profitable during a bad swing of NL. Re(1): poker paper I would start out by showing how Brunson totally dominated the game with skill in the 1960s and 1970s. Talk about Mike Caro and other revolutionaries who proved the overwhelming skill factor in poker. For your luck factor, tell your teacher that I just lost a 7k pot in the 9500 guaranteed with AA against 6 10 off because I always have to sit next to the chip leader. GL go Buffaloes. Re(2): UB tough guys There is a definite difference between the $200 and the $20-$50 which I play. Thanks for pointing that out because I should have specified earlier. I think the $20 players get really pissed when they lose because they probably just put in the $25 minimum deposit on UB and now they can't play for another week. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): UB tough guys I really like UB and this wasn't intended to disrespect the site or anyone who plays there. There are just a few people who go absolutely insane over a beat and I haven't noticed that much on any other site. The point was made about the UB chat and its smoothness, and I think this is a good reason why people rant because the other players can see and hear the chat very quickly. Most of the players are really cool and understand that bad beats are going to happen and don't sit around harassing you for 5 min after they get eliminated. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

UB tough guys I have been playing UB for about 9 months and I have to say the chat on there is the worst. I just sucked out a river A with AQ vs. QQ all-in in a sit n go 3-way and I had to turn off the chat after this guy wouldn't stop talking shit while I was heads up. I played Party for about a year before I turned 21 and I didn't see as many chat tough guys. Has anyone noticed that UB chat is more idiotic than any other site with these kind of retards' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Brunson v. Ungar I thought High Roller was a B-. Could have used way more scenes with Stuey playing no-limit. The only really good card scene was when he played gin against Mr. Myagi. In fact, I believe the only no-limit scene was at the end when he won the 97 WSOP. Norm Dalla is coming out with a biography of Ungar soon. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Brunson v. Ungar I believe Stu Ungar was the greatest no-limit player to date. He won 3 main events and won 10 out of the 30 major events he played. His comeback in '97 after a decade of dismay was very impressive. Doyle has the title of "best player ever" and it is well deserved. What do you all think' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Loose play to win tournaments? Thanks for the input. I think one reason why Sexton argues for this style is because Stu Ungar blew threw the competition by playing loose-aggressive. But today I just don't think it is too smart to try when so many novices don't understand the finer points of hold'em. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Loose play to win tournaments? I am a fairly tight player. I have witnessed the success of Phil Hellmuth and Dan Harrington and have concluded that tight-agressive play is the way to go in tournaments. Thats why I was a little suprised when I read an article by Mike Sexton in CardPlayer Magazine that explained that playing loose in tourneys is the correct strategy. His emphasis is that you have to maintain a large chip count throughout the tournament to win. I don't really understand the logic of this strategy when so many people today call down to the river with crap. I like the Sklansky approach to tournament survival ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sam Grizzle I was just at Bellagio and I watched Sam Grizzle play in the Wednesday $500 NL. Does anyone know anything about this guy' I heard rumors that he plays on the finger really deep and is always broke. This other guy who got knocked out told me he is the most distasteful and the most shady guy you will ever meet. Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any anecdotes about this guy. Re(12): DUMB WALRUS wins 3PM on UB.com Wow, DW, are you even old enough to play UB' Because this post seems like a child would write. By the way, I took 2nd, yes second place not second/first, in January in the $5 Friday tourney on UB and beat out 750 players. I guess I should waste everyone's time and write about it since this tournament was so important like yours. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

What are the odds I was in a sit n go on UB a couple of weeks ago. It was very early in the game when I get 79 of hearts in the big blind. Nobody raised so I checked. The flop came down all rags but two hearts. I bet the pot for about 50 and got one caller. On the turn the Ace of hearts comes. I bet pretty strong hoping this guy didn't have a higher flush draw. He calls. The river is an Ace. I bet heavy and he raises. I give him credit for a big Ace, thus trips. Since the flop was rags, maybe he thought I was trying to steal and then caught runner runner for trips and bet. I go all in and he calls. He has a ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
