Re:Howard Stern Joins PPA
Didn't mention before, during the interview Stern agreed to join, and promoted the PPA site and petition drive. They also spent 20 minutes on the subject during the Wrap Up Show. Nice job Al!

Howard Stern Joins PPA
Senator Alfonse D'Amato, chairman of the PPA, appeared on the Howard Stern radio program today to promote National Poker Week, and the PPA petition to be presented to President Obama, which has 350,000 signatures so far. It was a very entertaining and candid appearance. No doubt there will many new PPA members and petition signatures as a result. If you missed it, it is replaying on Sirius XM radio all day on channel 100, and will be played as part of a best of the week reboadcast from Friday through Sunday. There is a brief write up of the appearance at /.

Re:The Bodog Aftermath (yes another Bodog thread)
Bodog is a sportsbook. They make huge sums of money. There are no Sportsbooks that have great poker rooms. The best poker rooms make poker their primary business. Poker is just another way they get money into their sportsbook. You are not going to harm their business by posting this if that is your purpose.

Re:PokerStars DROPS more Guarantees... I don't get it
Fewer deposits = smaller fields. PStars easiest deposit methods(US) are gone. They don't know or are not saying if/ when echeck will return. We already know credit card deposits won't be back. When the field sizes decrease, I'm certain people will be back here saying they lost the players because they lowered the guarantee by a few thousan dollars, not because people could not get money on the site. This is not a chicken/ egg scenario. No money = no game. I don't know what percentage US players account for on PStars, surely much less than it used to be, but a lack of ...

Re:PokerStars DROPS more Guarantees... I don't get it
PokerStars is not pubicly owned. If it were, it would not be open to US players. It is a privately held site owned by Rational Entertainment Enterprises Limited. After the events of last week, they stated they were guaranteeing payments to the players whose funds were seized. This is a near term loss in the millions of dollars. They will now incur substantial legal fees in efforts to get the money back. They also lost their main deposit method for US players. Obviously, they are ratcheting back the guarantees in response to these events.

Re:Thomas Keller - what the fk is up with this guy?
"I wasn't by any means trying to be mean towards anyone, I'm just sick of uncompassionate people who don't have sympathy or understanding for people. Many of us have so much to be grateful for, yet we (I'm guilty of this myself many times) use our energy to put others down instead of bringing them up, which upsets me. I was just hoping everyone would be understanding and know, that if you were in that situation, you would want people building you up and not tearing you down." You will need to lose this way of thinking if you intend to work in fire/ rescue. You ...

"I am very much against all the scheister attorney references in this world, and I think that by acting ethically at all times and always respecting the laws of our government (no matter whether we agree or not) attorneys will, someday, be given some respect (please understand that I do not at all believe that my law degree in any way puts me above anyone on this forum or elsewhere; I've washed plenty of dishes and taken enough shit to respect everyone from any walk of life, however, I think that the disrespect for lawyers is something that I personally don't fee responsible ...

Re:petition to free all banned for life players
In other words, no penalty for new violations. Short sighted, and there is no more practical solution for your personal opinion. The only solution is to find them when you can, and ban them.

Re:Feel that I've been cheated here, am I out of line ??
Random Q was definately out of line. Obviously it served his interest for Mongo to call. He goes out and only one left to the money. You lose and your crippled, and the only player between them and the money is the fish that called you. Pretty obvious though, when the guy types "grr" he's showing his experience level. He's calling. It appears the other players thought he was beat and wanted him out.

I usually don't berate people; however, sometimes I do type "dead money" in the chat. Seems to make them come into the hand when I'm in.

Re:staking arrangements. is this standard?
How many times have you heard someone with a backing deal only shipping tournaments on their dime' You owe the backer half the $3K. The fact that he is letting you out of the deal for $130 is another gift. Backer, you have been way too generous with this guy. He'll be broke again quickly. Block his PMs, and be glad he didn't scam you out of big money.

Re:Deeeeeeeep Question: best answer = $$$$
Stand up, take two steps back, look side to side with narrow eyes to make certain no one is looking, and say muhuhuhahahaha, muhuhuhahahaha over and over again for about 30 seconds. Lock the door. Return to focus on the hand in time to see the AA flat my raise, and watch the flush flop(look, if it's going that well, this could happen to). After winning a few hands, I begin to recall the stories from the past when cheaters were caught who won big tournaments; WCOOP, Sunday 750K, etc. Now, I realize I'm only a bad beat or two away from being good enough to win the WSOP Main Event, but ...

Re:AJK Petition...
People need to have the maturity to deal with comments on both sides of the issues. If you are going to make harsh comments, then you have to be willing to take them. You can take your ball and leave, but that does not resolve anything. Eventually, you will run out of things to quit.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but the NRA has around 1.5 million members, and 95% of politics fear them." I agree with your sentiment, but here is the correction. The NRA's position is specifically supported by the Second Ammendment of the Constitution. The NRA is a 140 year old organization; the PPA is about 5 years old, and only recently began organizing players. It will take time.
