Re:Poker Stars " Battle of the Planets " I think they'd have to change the equation for awarding leaderboard points for SNGS if they wanted to include 180s, because it'd make it really tough to make the top 10 for someone only playing stts. A lot of the TLB leaders are already 180 grinders anyway, so I'd say you can't really have it both ways. I think there's more equity in TLB freerolls + yearly bonuses for TLB leaders anyway. Re:Standard line or possible leak? I'm pretty sure the first question you asked was, "is this standard'" They're not flaming you, they're telling you that it's not going to be profitable to play that hand in that way in that spot, and you don't want to hear it. Okay fine, but ask yourself if it's going to be profitable long-term to make that play against these opponents. UTG limp-called 89o and then got 60bb in with an open-ender and no pair (which was, as it happens, ahead of your 6-high). Let's say this is the absolute bottom of his range, which it probably is, and if it includes 89o ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Question about clearing my bonus on PSTARS if you're 12 tabling, cash is probably your best bet. if you're having trouble clearing it you can always shortstack a level higher than you're used to playing to accumulate vpps at a faster rate. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Outliers vs constitutionaly bad at poker Yes and no, I think. If you learn for a living obviously you know that self-reflection and self-schooling aren't going to be enough in most cases, which is also true for most people in poker. Obviously there are a bunch of guys who are "naturals," and these would be your outliers, but that still needs to be combined with a lot of traditional "learning" in order to succeed consistently at the highest levels. I consider myself fairly intelligent and there were many things about poker that just didn't "click" for me until they were explained or shown to me ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:sample size/win rate questions pt stands for pokertracker, it's kind of stupid and comes from limit but basically it's equal to 2bb. So a 5ptbb/100 winrate at .50/1.00 is equivalent to winning 10$ per every 100 hands. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:sample size/win rate questions I wouldn't trust anything under 100k hands, especially if you're playing more than a few tables. As for a good winrate I think it would decrease with the increases in stake, and keep in mind even after 100k hands it is going to fluctuate, but yeah if you're in between 3-6bb/100 you're doing okay. I don't know how this intermediary business works, do you' Does anyone' Are any of them truly legit' Or was it just one bad business that got overlooked somehow' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:$2.1M seized: the criminal complaint & seizure against prominent poker payment processor This; from what I can gather from reading the affidavit the seizure is not really related to internet gaming at all but to one guy who set up some unlicensed processing companies. Apparently they suspected him of running internet gambling sites as well, but the seizure of the funds appears to be related to the fact that he is not licensed to operate this sort of business in the state of Florida. IMO this doesn't really have so much to do with poker or even BOA as some have suggested and I imagine the sites will reimburse those whose funds were seized as they have done in the past and pay ... Re:Is there a strategic reason behind odd digit bet sizes? there is strategic value to making your bet somewhere in between 2x-3x bb, beyond that the specific amount someone comes up with is just some combination of personal preference, convenience, and general idiocy. for example at 200/400 i make it 999 because it is easy to type and looks like a big stack of chips. also, it tilts some people for some reason and makes them want to spite 3bet me. Re:Micro mill weekly? cosign; i don't see why they wouldn't be willing to try it out in the regular schedule at least until it fails to hit the guarantee. i can see how they might not want to put the work in to run the absurd amount of satellites to it every week that they did for this one, but on the other hand it absolutely shattered the guarantee so they can stand to lose a bunch of qualifiers. cut back on the satellites to a level you're comfortable with doing every week and see where you stand, imo. Re:2,500 fpps on stars for $40 a good deal? yup, you're right actually, it's the $530 tickets that are a better value not the $215s. supernova 4k bonus is the exact same rate, and the 1k supernova bonus is worse. concierge is better than all of the above. 40/2500 = .016 215/13500 = .01593 4000/250000 = .016 Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:2,500 fpps on stars for $40 a good deal? Yes, at $.016/fpp the only better deals are mil/steps tickets and bonuses/concierge available only to Supernovas. Even at that, mil tickets are only marginally better, .01609/fpp or something silly like that. Cliff notes: this is the best value you're going to get for your fpps straight up unless you want to grind fpp satellites or something Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Stars 40 billionth hand promo Yes, it is $.016/FPP, which is the same as the $4,000 bonus for Supernovas. This is the best rate you can get on just about anything except tournament buy-ins and concierge service (and even then it's a very comparable rate). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I have nothing against rock, but it can't possibly help the case for legalizing poker sites in the US if the sites are just completely letting people off the hook for playing underage. Re:Live Poker Ruling- Whats your take? pretty funny, Harrah's isn't even consistent with their own rulings on the same issue. I played in one of their nightlies a few weeks back and had the same thing happen to me (where I was all in and called and the other player's cards were mucked), the dealer ruled that he was all in with no cards, the first floor guy ruled he would only have to pay the bb, and the floor manager came over and ruled that he would get all of his chips back. Pretty sickening to get three different rulings in a matter of three minutes, Harrah's should probably get their shit together. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Our new Champ says "Poker isn't gambling. It's a hobby, an activity, a game" ??? LOL no, i want to yell because you're too stupid to understand the concept of sample sizes. while it is quite possible that one would quit before their sample approximates a reasonable significant sample, there is ZERO CHANCE that one could go an entire lifetime. we're talking about simple coinflips here, not entire tournaments with 6,000 runners. this is ONE variable, heads or tails. when election polls are done, do you have any idea what the sample sizes they use are' do you have any idea how remarkably accurate they are, despite the seemingly "small" samples' do you know why ... Re:Our new Champ says "Poker isn't gambling. It's a hobby, an activity, a game" ??? LOL i did read your question, the logic behind it is just extremely flawed and i don't know how else to explain it to you other than "you are way the fuck off." you are saying probability is somehow magically selective. each individual has his own sample of hands played within the larger sample of "all poker hands ever played," both will adhere to the laws of probability given they are large enough; this is not magic. you're also making the mistake of assuming that these probabilities can deviate significantly from expectation over very large sample sizes, this is ...
