Need a backup ISP!!!!
mbn. I troubleshooted for hours and couldn't get pdanet to work on my laptop or pc. It initially worked. I'm not a complete tech idiot either. I've had problems b4 and troubleshooted my way in to it working. I'd rather pay $20/month to know that I have a reliable back up.

Looks like a great deal is buying a Virgin Mobile air card from Wal Mart. Then buying the $20 1gb/30 days card from the walmart website that supposedly only works w/ virgin mobile air cards bought from Wal mart. Only bad part is u have to reload every month and mbs don't roll over month to month. If u can tether ur android/iphone for free then I'd do that. If these aren't options this looks like the way to go.

I got an android phone and seem to always have problems getting it to work. I got it to work initially. I think what happens is when there are some windows updates or maybe even android updates my pc AND laptop don't recognize my phone. I've given up trying to figure out the problem. I'm going to buy the cheapest internet to use as a back up.

Does stars pay for the sales tax' The car is 200k in the US. So after income tax it'll cost you 100k, then another 10k in sales tax. So essentially after taxes if u win ull have around 370k and a lambo. I'd much prefer to just have 460k and a corvette. I assume insurance isn't cheap either. In the end I'd rather just have the 200k I could put toward buying a house after taxes. obv this is all a moot point I'll probably play for a few hours and bubble it.

Sick Life Decision...WWYD?
Making 1k/month at mtts is pretty easy. When I had this decision at the end of last year I really hated my job, it was really unhealthy for me to be working there, but I had some solid results. Your 2010 looks like my 2009 lol. Really having to make 1k and you have a year's living expenses saved up means a very small chance of failure. However if u fail I'm assuming it's tough to get a job in portugal like it is here in the U.S. I would say keep working/playing for another 6 months and see how it goes. You never stated your bankroll that is important to know.

Reflecting on 2010: How Did You Do?
This was my 1st year as a pro. I was lucky enough to play ~20 hrs/week and still have enough money to live comfortably. I didn't reach my personal goals which were to lose a bunch of weight or get in a regular working schedule. I'm about 1k in profit from making my goal, had I actually put in a decent schedule I woulda destroyed it. -Hit a new high score, currently my biggest cash is 3.7k; this should be pretty easy Destroyed this. I had 5 cashes that beat 3.7k this year they were: 16.9k, 6.2k, 5.6k, 5.5k, 4k -Hit a 5 fig score Chopped and got 2nd in the double deuce for 16.9k. This was a ...

Chances are the processor is no good anymore given the trouble everyone has had cashing checks. Best bet to get the money is premium bank wire once they credit ur account for the amount of ur check.

Hand Advice for Past Weekend at Live 1/2 NL
I would almost always just complete in the sb. As played I'd bet flop. check the turn and fold if it goes bet/call. The reason I like limping is we're suited which plays well vs many opponents, we keep the pot small, if we raise often ur gonna get at least a couple of callers which you did and we'll be oop. I'd much rather iso a couple of limpers w/J9o on the btn.

Stars software is sooo archaic
Agreed. My only complaints are in order 1) deal making software like ftp 2) timebank countdown like ftp 3) have a cap on their timebank and allow 20 sec to be added if under the cap 4) I'd like to have an option to see the full hole cards of like ftp These are nice tweaks. I can't remember the last time stars lagged, but I remember lots of times on ub/ftp where stuff lags or just freezes or has silly glitches.

Do most pros hate poker and the lifestyle around it?
As far as pros go I'm pretty old. I worked in a factory doing quality assurance. It paid well, but my hours were terrible. I've been a pro for around 9 months now. There are times I just don't want to grind just like there were lots of times I didn't want to go to my old job. I've been lucky enough to run about or a little below expectation because I don't grind enough and variance really coulda kicked my ass this year. I like the freedom of setting my own schedule as well as not having a boss stick it in my ass all day. If I could choose a job where I made what I make at poker and enjoyed it ...

I ran into this as well using an updated version of firefox. If you select a different country then select your country of interest u can select your region. This needs to be fixed though.

I normally lay this down pf against an unknown but 4/180 fields are so weak and you have a big stack that a call isn't too out of line although against a bigger stack I'd fold until I got a read. I make it 10,000 on the flop, so I can get it in on the turn. As played I call the turn. He didn't act like he had a big hand on the flop, he bet small on a drawy board then just called your small raise, then he leads out on the turn, alarm bells should be going off now.
