Major rankings changes coming 8/1
Spoiler, totally biased thought coming... I would love to see the mtt sng grinders get a bit of love somehow, I'm not sure how that would happen but the reality of playing "volume" poker is these sng mtt's (e.g. 180's) represent a large percentage of the daily income of the pro/serious grinders. I guess the real question is, should our TLB represent who the best/most successful players are or who has had the most success in scheduled MTT's. (fwiw these are just thoughts, love to hear opinions) the last year of online in the U.S. these are pretty much what I played and I started to recognize ...

Article: Set Mining in No Limit Hold'em Tournaments
nice article. nailing down the stack odds need to set mine is like trying to hit a moving target blindfolded. it changes for every position, action, opponent and so on. fwiw I think playing cash games is a great way to work on set mining, its really one of the biggest factors in the game imo. it forces you to not only consider the implied odds of making your hand but the equity you gain on the flop from taking down a raised pot with a cbet and lets not forget the value of 3 betting to isolate with deep stacks. I particularly like how this polarizes villians hand range if you have position on ...

Player Blinded Out of WSOP Main Event After Skipping Day 5 for Religious Reasons
clearly optimal poker was not his primary concern, however those people who play poker seriously rely on people who don't care (or even consider) optimal play... stop teaching at the table (my biggest live pet peeve' yep.) It really comes down to its his money and perhaps he wanted to play the ME because he had seen it on TV and was a "bucket list" thing. Say what you want among friends but don't give him shit publicly, these are the guys that pay for Phil Ivey's Bentley, it's entertainment for him and I'd like to have a Bentley one day too.

working on your live game, "hand histories" ?
that's one of my favorite poker books actually, good call. I had forgotten you could use the iPhone as a voice recorder. I do worry that marks me as "not a fish" immediately, but how long can you hold that image anyway' anyone else please feel free to add!

working on your live game, "hand histories" ?
It seems harder and harder to review and work on my game now that I'm playing live. Reviewing hand histories quickly and easily, and even sharing them with friends mentors, is one of the biggest luxuries of online that I took for granted before black friday. This weekend there was a rather large plo cash pot that I would love to be able to review "out of the moment" but villains hands are a bit foggy. Anyone have any habits\suggestions they want to share' is a good old fashioned notebook the answer' I'd love to find an iphone app that would let me quickly enter hands to save for later.

WSOP Ladies Event - The Drama Continues
My only real issue with this is the bracelet. No restrictive event should also be a bracelet event (senior's or ladies) without some caveat. There may be a "ladies champ" title on it in which case I'm OK with that... I feel like any WSOP bracelet indicates a certain level and that means beating the best, not the best of a selected group. ***edit*** having learned plenty of the upper level stuff I know about poker from a lady, and played with several pro ladies extensively I think the idea that a women is "less" of a player because two X chromosomes got passed along is absurd. certainly we ...

Who Do You Think Will Win the WSOP $1M Big One for One Drop?
depends on the structure... generally if the buy in goes up the structure gets better, will it be slower than ME' either way Ivey if hes in if no Ivey then with a slower structure I think Daniel or I'd have to go with Dan, confidence in your game is important even at this level and being on a heater might give shak an edge.

refrence material for game profitability?
been looking at some of my local games and would like to analyze the structures. Anyone know of a place (or have the info) where I could see an example of a game broken down' (hands per hour, roi, rake, stack size, etc.)

Recently got laid off, is trying to become a live pro inadequate?
dont underestimate the mind numbing effect playing one had at a time can have on you after your 40+ hours, if it doesn't bother you and you keep your money straight, AND you have enough sample size to know your a legit winner at those games then I think you could pull it off, though 1k a week depends on how many hours your willing to play. The single most important factor in succeeding is how you manage your money, by far.

There are a group of reg's that play it, I would say no more than a couple are what I would consider "dangerous" but they all have an idea of what's going on.

live plo structure & bankroll requirements input
Since black Friday I have been, as many U.S. players have, dealing with the rule changes and different structure of live play. I have been playing mostly plo at the 1/1 level, the game gets really big for a 1\1 game towards the end of the night and I love it but its only spread on Fridays. There is another game that runs a few times a week but I'm not sure what sort of bankroll I would need as its a new structure. Any thoughts on the game described below, or on bankroll requirements for live plo (or any plo!) would be much appreciated. The game: blinds are 1/2 min 200 buyin max 500. There is ...

International Stadium Poker Tour - ISPT - US$ 30MM gtd
I doubt they will sell tickets until the final table, like the wsop final... I know some of the Euro stadiums get up there and could handle 30k players and fans but it would be a logistical nightmare. you could set it up like railing online where there are "tables" up on the big screen but who's going to pay for that' at the final they will probably set it up like a boxing match, putting bleachers\chairs in the lawn with the last table\tables elevated on a stage or sunken at one end with a temporary grandstand closing it in.

Do all casino's have this ridiculous rule??
I've noticed that table draw (getting at the good table because they always balance) is huge in how my night goes. I do a few things to help increase my chances. The floor is there often enough he knows who the fish are and walks around enough to know what table I want to be at so I made it a point to get to know all of them, I always say hello, and If I have a big night I tip them as I'm leaving. obv they are under no obligation to help but I seem to be getting better tables than I did when I first started. fwiw... I always ask the desk for a game, say hello to the floor, and if I don't ...
