Re:Midwest Regional Poker Championships at Horseshoe Southern Indiana just got back, 1st event had about 430 entries ($300+40), and saturday's $550 had about 230 entries. Blind structures are fairly reasonable - the first tournament took 17 hours to finish. Last year I played the 1/2 PLO 1/2 NLHE tourney during the week and it only drew about 50 entries. I'd assume the stud and other games would have a similar small field. Nice events though - and a lot of 1/2 PLO and 2/5 PLO (for those who rarely get the opporutnity to play thesee) along with plenty of NLHE tables. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): WSOP Live Media Player (worldseriesofpoker.com) Thanks for the info, X. I tried opening IE and no luck there either. I have tried on both laptop and desktop. The archives work fine, but neither machine can play the live footage. GG $49.95 Posted in: Poker Discussion |

WSOP Live Media Player (worldseriesofpoker.com) because of the suggestions, I purchased this for $49.95 and have been able to succesfully watch the archived final table videos, but NOT been able to catch the live feed () It's only a black screen and just curios if anyone else had this problem or may know what I need to do. I recently downloaded the new Windows Media player 11 so I am up to date. Any help appreciated. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Say it aint so Sorel... if imp's statement bothers anyone, they have serious issues. it's sad we can no longer joke about anything in this "free" country. The volume of women players vs men players is reason enough to make his statement 100% accurate. "Special" people have their own olympics/competitions....as do women. Having these sexual restrictions on entry is the pure definition of sexism. The top tier are just as good if not better than top men and I dont think anyone disagrees with that. I believe Sorel means "as a whole" because it's true. If a women vs men tournament wanted to be arranged with an equal ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): What ARE big bets? I was always under the assumption that a 1/2 limit game meant the blinds were 1/2. And if that were the case, a big bet would be $4. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): i hate this AK spot i remember sheets valuing AK higher in weaker games because people will play AQ, AJ, AT, KQ, KJ for all their ch ips. I believe if you are gonna go to the felt with this hand, limp re-raising is the only way to get a lesser hand to come along. But, if u look at my results, i hav eproven nothing, so jut disregard everything i said please Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): Cardrunners Article - Redeeming Values Some people want a nice car to drive fast as kind of a hobby. There are people who go to work every day to build that car. Others gladly pay $300/ticket or more to watch 10 20-year olds play basketball for a couple of hours - and there are people who get good to provide that entertainment. And, there are those who enjoy playing a little poker in their spare time at a variety of stakes to blow off a few bucks or a few hundred a week. As long as that is the case, there will be professionals there to provide this entertainment. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Rake Question @ Casinos Most dealers I've talked to have said they could rake more in a 1/2 game than $12/hour from a full table. I have noticed that now that they charge the $6/halfhour, the tables have significantly loosened up making them much easier to beat. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Interesting situation-WSOP circuit chop I have prepared taxes in the past and can not imagine someone having to pay taxes on money they did not receive. It has been a few years, but if I were in Men's taxman, I would claim the $237k or whatever for 1st because of the form received, and then take the difference between that amount and what he actually received and create an employee or investment loss. Im by no means an expert on the subject, but it seems very unrealistic to claim an amount you did not receive - it almost seems like like the casino is lazy and doesn't wnat to "re-print" new forms. In any case, if I were playing ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Whats harder? up to about a 3.2 is about as easy as graduating alone. At 3.8, I'd say that would be comparable to someone making about $10k/year playing poker. Looks nice, you brag about it to your friends, but it alone won't really get you anywhere. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Sit and go help at this point, you should be in ultra conservative mode. any raise you make at 50/100 at this spot should be 250-300 to give some big stacks the idea of fold equity vs you. this is assuming it's a standard table. If the table is ultra tight, obv you should make it 250 with about any 2 cards at least twice per orbit. but that is a rare table situation Posted in: Poker Discussion |
