Positive news - Senator Kyl open to legislation
Not sure if anyone saw this or not, but I just sent a message Senator Kyl's site to help get some momentum going. It certainly can't hurt to send him a positive message of pushing thing through. Consideration is Better than Nothing Could we be seeing a change of heart from a long-time opponent of Internet gambling and online poker' According to the website of Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, he might be up to considering Internet gambling and online poker in the future. "Efforts to carve out an exception for games like poker, which many believe is a game of skill, may be considered later this ...

...this I want to still have the convenience to play online and even though the other sites interfaces suck compared to FTP and Stars, it is still online. IF they are likely to be shut down for the US, what is a realistic time frame' Also - what is the realistic time frame for accounts of the big 3 to be unfrozen'

I want to believe that these sites will continue to serve the US market, but how are they processing the financial transactions legally' Did they find some magic loophole or is it just a matter of time before they get busted too'

Full Tilt and Pokerstars Domains Seized
I wonder how feasible it would be for them to strike a deal with another poker site or open a new site and transfer accounts to the new site. It happens all the time with other businesses. Business A buys out Business B and all accounts get transferred.

Full Tilt and Pokerstars Domains Seized
Everyone is freaking out that online poker is dead now. Yes, Tilt and Stars are currently not operating in the US. They may or may not come back and this may or may not take a while. But as of right now UB/AP, Bodog, Cake and all Merge network sites are operating. People aren't just gonna quit playing poker because of these two sites. Unless these other sites shut down for US in the next few days/weeks, the money will move. I'm not saying these sites won't change their policies, because I obviously don't know. But wait until information comes out before assuming the sky is falling.

Volume & Variance
I'm actually not passing up +EV spots now. When I play I play for the win. I'm more just thinking out loud to get some feedback. If large field sizes = more variance, which = you need to take thin edges to win/final table, which = more variance which = you need to put in volume to offset the variance So what if you can't put in volume' Then in theory you should do something to reduce the variance. One thought was to pass on the really thin edges, but... I see this point and it makes sense. Would things be less swingy passing on thin edges' Maybe if all I was playing was SUPER deep ...

Volume & Variance
I've been playing for about 7 years now, have kids, own a business, etc. so I can only put in limited volume compared to most. In a good month I put in about 100 tournaments of which about half are 45 man and 90 man turbos, but sometimes it's more like 50 a month. So...my time frame for reaching "the long term" is WAY longer than an MTT pro and also means my swings (up and down) can last a lot longer in terms of total time. Not that I'm impatient, but I don't play for income and winning is a lot more fun than losing. I also like playing tournaments over cash games. I'm trying to figure out ...

indication of a set.
Obviously not everyone plays the same, but a common line from a random player is check/call flop, check/min-raise turn (or remove the checks if they are in position) Especially on a dry board when the turn card is a blank. This is not normally a bluffing line, so it's someone who really likes their hand. It doesn't mean its always a set, but this is a common line for one.

clear fold to GBecks 3bet all in?
I was at the table (dpanone) and he had been playing pretty straight forward. He knows you are raising utg+1 and you haven't really been too out of line. Your 67 hand was a blind vs. blind shove but other than that you weren't playing crazy or anything that would make him shove a worse Ace here. Raise/fold is fine.

Need subjects for a study on amateur players
This should be good. If others reply to the thread than that's cool and I can probably use more for a better sample size anyway (I'm not claiming it to be a scientifically valid study). I'll definitely post the results of what I'm doing when I'm done, which should be within the week.

Need subjects for a study on amateur players
Hi everyone, I'm doing a study comparing the stats of casual tournament players with those of the top online pros. I need to compile a list of casual players of whom I can use to pull stats on. Your screen names will NOT be used publicly. I am simply averaging numbers together, but I need to start somewhere in pulling names. Here's who I am looking for: Plays online about 1-4x per week, usually at night Has a “real job” Is serious about the game but can only put in part-time hours Focuses on larger field tournament play If I can use your Full Tilt & Stars screen name, just let me ...

Re:Are low and midstakes cash games easier at Stars than FTP?
Full Tilt is much softer. I use a product called TableScan Turbo for game selection and I score my results by stack sizes at the table, number of multitablers, pot size, etc. and of the top 10 tables in my scan there are usually about 7 that are Full Tilt tables.

It doesn't matter how many times you run it. The odds are still the odds and there is no cEV in this if they aren't winning chips. They are only winning money.

Just got back from the WSOP event. You can buy-in for someone else, but they have to have your Harrah's Player's card (no ID needed, but you need to give an ID to get a players card if you don't have one). Not sure about WPT.

Observing people, not just their plays
I starting picking up new things about people in live play and wanted to see if we could get a thread going about different observations you guys have seen that might indicate how they play. Here's my example (a little long, but explains my thought process): I played in a live tournament last night and when everyone took their seats last night, I noticed that the gentleman to my right was wearing a visor. Underneath the visor it was apparent that he had went through some sort of hair plug or hair growth treatment. He was probably in his early-to-mid 40s. I started thinking about what that ...

Re(4): Poker in Atlanta/Marietta?
I had a P5s tournament about a year ago. Tranquillo, thisismyback, LuckyEgg, Maghinslaw and a few others were able to make it (maybe like 16 people showed'). I help run Pokermentors now too, so I get another one going and try to get Yellowsub and Foshio to make it. If there is enough interest, I'll set another one up. Last time we did a $100 buy in.
