Re:building a bankroll with 50 dollars The $1.10 turbo double or nothing on stars are quite easy...frustrating because it seems to take a while to build from that, but if you can multitable, it's not that bad. But, once you can build a little from that, definitely switch off of them or it will drive you insane! :) I'm in agreement on the 45 man tourneys...also try the 90 man turbos. Solid play seems to work for the most part on these. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Last Minute Decision To Go to PCA - Still Need Passport? You should fly into Miami a day before you want to head to PCA and go to their office. I got a passport in under three hours there last year. You just need to make sure to have all of your documentation in order and bring proof of your flight to the Bahamas being so quickly. Then you can easily just jump over to the Bahamas. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tampa locals You are better off playing tournaments elsewhere in Tampa...Hard rock's are always quite small and not worth the rake relative to your prize pool. Granted, the fields are weak. Check out Tampa Greyhound () -- they run a nightly no juice MTT at 630. Tampa Bay Downs has the Silks poker room () Their Thurs night tourney is a good deepstack option, but Wed are just a $60 5k stack ($12 rake). Lastly, in St. Pete -- Derby Lane: Wed have a double stack knockout tourney--8k chps, $110 Stick to HR for cash.... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Tampa, FL Hardrock $1k I have a seat for Sunday but am wondering if it's even worth it. I played the last one...the structure for play is good, but the payout structure is horrible. Paying the top 75 (25 from each starting day) with 75th getting 1200. You have to get to 40th to even crack 2k. Granted the final table payouts would be great. Do you guys think it's worth it' Or should I sell my seat - rumors are it's already sold out (I cannot confirm or deny that though) and last time around people were insane enough to pay between 2000 and 2500 for a seat. I won my seat for all of $100 (mini-brag post) ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Best way to build up $70 on PokerStars? I've found that a good way (if you are strictly a tourney person) is to play the 4 table 2.20 sattys to the Sunday 100k. It awards 6 seats and you can unregister and take the $11 in tourney dollars. Use those to buy into your other S&Gs and tourneys or take a shot at a higher buy-in than your roll really allows. These sats are super soft and with simple strategy are easily successfull. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hard Rock Casino in Tampa Other options for you: Derby Lane in St. Pete Lucky's at Tampa Greyhound The Silks at Tampa Downs One Eyed Jacks in Sarasota ---- All of these have the same $100 max buy-in (some offer variations on the min buy-in). The fish are all over...just of varying degrees. Right now, though, the hard rock has a bad beat jackpot over 500k so that's probably more worth it. It is absolute chaos though on some of those tables. Be prepared to gamble for your whole $100...but once you double or triple up you can play normal. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Going to be in Orlando next week - any poker rooms in the area? There's also a new room in Ocala. In tampa, you have Hard Rock, Tampa Greyhound and Tampa Downs...and Derby Lane is not that far from there in St. Pete. These places also run pretty decent tourneys on Sundays in case you want to mix it up a bit. But the cash games are very juicy at the hard rock. Melbourne has Club 52 at their greyhound track -- predominantly cash players because of the their bad beat jackpot. New room at Daytona -- some of the worst players I've come in contact with in FL are regulars here. It really depends on what part of Orlando you'll be in -- northern, ... Re:Tampa 1K...Selling seats/Alternate list Yep. That's what I'm hearing too. My friend somehow got in after the sell out -- they told him they were opening it up to 80 more people...then changed their minds and created the alternates list. Not sure at what point they will let alternates in, or for how long. I'm sure there will be a few seats that might have been won and just never redeemed so that will allow some extras in, but beyond that, I think it's a crap shoot. You have to keep in mind that Hard Rock, or very few places in FL for that matter, haven't really had tournaments this big and of this magnitude ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:1k Tampa Hard Rock -- 80 more seats added Funny that they said it was a rumor....as my friend got in after the 600 was sold out....who knows. I've always found that half the people at hard rock have no clue what's going on...and usually there are different versions of everything depending on who you talk to. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

1k Tampa Hard Rock My friend got the last of the 600 original seats yesterday afternoon. Later last night they decided to add 80 more seats (40 on each day). Haven't seen the updated pay scale yet, but should be nice! I expect the seats to fly away today and tomorrow once people find out there are new seats...so if you don't have yours yet -- better not wait any longer! Final role call' Who's gonna be there -- where you all sitting' Sat -- Table 15 seat 2. Good luck to all P5ers...let's have one of us take this thing down! ***Sorry all, seems they were debating adding the seats, got my friend ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:1k @ Tampa Hard Rock I'm at your table on Sat. Table 15 seat 2. :) Good luck to us both! There will probably be 20-22 seats in tonight's satty...and they are still running single tables. One more MTT satty scheduled for Sunday, with likely the same 20-25 seats for that too. Seats are going fast...and I really do assume it will sell out. Get your seat now!!! Re:P5'ers attending Tampa 1k The sats are a $100 initial buyin for 2500 chips. You can do an immediate rebuy for $25 for 1000 chips. At any point at or below 2500 you can rebuy in an amount up to giving you 3500 in chips. The rebuy period lasts for an hour and a half. At that point, you can buy 5000 chips for $100. Blinds go up every 15 min, and start at 25/50. Pretty standard levels except the jump from 400/800 to 600/1200 instead of having a 500/1000 level. And no antes! We had I think 95 people last Friday -- and I expect that number to be more this week as the number of sattys are becoming few and far between. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:P5'ers attending Tampa 1k I honestly don't know how any FL P5ers can miss this tourney. The field will be so soft. Most of these people sat. in -- and those have been so weak. Very few people will have ever played a multi-day tourney down there and they are used to the horrible min/max $100 cash games where chasing is an art form and getting paid with the nuts is the norm for a solid player. With the structure the way it is, it only fuels how much of an advantage most P5ers will have over the field. I'm actually heading over in a bit to try and get a 2nd seat in todays sat -- that's how weak the sats ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:no preregistration for the 1k event in Tampa The talk of side games is humorous with regards to anything in Florida. Our stupid limits are such that there's not much to choose from. The juiciest cash games are always late night at hard rock -- and super soft. Granted, the people just have tons of cash and just throw it around -- so as long as you aren't unlucky you should be able to do fine. However, not sure how many tables will be free for side games during the tourney. Before hand though, that's your best bet. Other rooms in the general vicinity: Tampa Greyhound - / <----- runs a lot of no juice tourneys Tampa Downs ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:no preregistration for the 1k event in Tampa The issue is that each person has to have a player's card. If you have one already, then yes, someone else can buy your seat for you. If not, you have to get one...and that requires an ID. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:no preregistration for the 1k event in Tampa The seats are going relatively quickly...mostly because they run two MTT sats into it each week (Fridays and Sunday) and are also running one table S&Gs. Most people aren't buying directly in as of yet...still trying to find a cheaper way in, but I'd recommend getting your seat in the next week or so to guarantee a spot. If you are coming into town just to buy a seat this weekend, might I suggest driving down to Sarasota on Sat to play in their $330 buy in tourney. It's one of the few larger buy-in tourneys in the state that are actually worth it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
