You went back to her house and talked for hours' About what' If your ex was mentioned at all you messed up, and it is suspicious that she wouldn't ditch you after dinner if the reason she gave was true. You most likely triggered a red flag sometime during the night. Especially if this was one of the first times you hung out in person. No worries though it happens to nice guys all the time. Yeah I guess I believe everything happens for a reason. But I would never say the phrase the OP mentioned to justify why something happened. I would only acknowledge that there is an unknown reason to everything because it is happening.

Guy says FU to a DUI checkpoint like a boss
I have seen people try this and fail too but none of them did what this guy did. He got off because he shoved a camera in their face while asking for identification. Right then they knew they are dealing with a douche of the highest level only lookng for them to slip up so he can post the video on the internet for thousands to see him being a victim of such an atrocious violation of his personal rights. Instead I think they made a decision to let the douche go and not hold anyone else up who is willing to cooperate based on his answers and what they could see by looking at his eyes. Kudos ...

I see, then TrueCar is a okay tool to find out where to start your offer. Just know that dealerships can manipulate information on TrueCar aswell... I always assumed people knew about invoice pricing when dealing with cars, but you are correct I have spent a fair amount of time at dealerships.

Why is it so great to know a range from a third party site' You can get that information from the dealership or better yet just get an exact price... you can even ask them what it would be to walk out the door with it including taxes and fees. Much better way of accomplishing your goal than bringing in a printed piece of paper and saying "I want this at this price," and having the salesperson give you the run around about "we don't have that car, but we can sell you this one with blah blah blah, just come with me," even if they do have that car. The problem with TrueCar is they give you pricing on a car that almost never exists. I mean you can not expect a dealership to sell a car for a loss just because some website that is not in the business of selling cars tells you so. TrueCar spits out a price based on options you select, which if you ever bought a car from a dealer you would know that they rarely have an exact match of what you select on a website.
