Is it worth accepting the Poker Stars WSOP ME Sponsorship' Pros: Receive 1k online money, receive possible payouts for FT and TV table appearance Cons: Required to wear all the Poker Stars gear all the time, miss out on other sponsorship opportunities if you hit the FT, (if you win, you receive no addition compensation for the year, but must continue to work for Stars, do commercials etc.) From an equity perspective, should this deal be accepted' / FT Compensation: 1st place: $1,000,000* 2nd place: $400,000* 3rd place: $300,000* 4th-5th place: $200,000* 6th-9th place: $100,000* TV ... Re(1): Hand vs BKiCe 2nd Chance.. I think this is a very read dependent hand that depends on the flow of the game. Versus a typical donkey, this is an easy shove. However, this situation is definitely closer than some make it out to be. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Hand from deep in FTP 750K- hand ranges and advice needed I think at this stage of the tournament, although your stack is short, you still have plenty of fold equity. So, I think you can fold here and be okay. AQ and 99 are definitely borderline hands.I would say it definitely depends on your confidence in your own game. If you think you are really good with a big stack then I'd be more likely to gamble. A lot of players go for big stacks, but play them incorrectly once they get them. I'd be happy to play your short stack here and fold. Obviously, I may be a bit biased since I know the results. However, I'd wouldn't consider it horrible to put it in ... Re(1): 50 buyins for PCA step 1, is this the best way to satty in? These calculations seem somewhat reasonable... but I'm not entirely sold on the math. Do these calculations take into account the times when you move down in steps and play again' Say you finish 3rd or 4th in step 2 and replay the sitngo... Given that you get more opportunities and more chances to stay alive, it seems that your odds should be a bit higher. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Limit Cash Games, whats your range of staritng hands? Unfortunately, no one can tell you the optimal starting hand ranges since it varies in different situations. Also, that is something that you have to learn and figure out yourself. Generally, play tight in early position and loosen up in later position. Although, I haven't played much LHE lately, I remember when I first learned the game and moved from 3/6 and 5/10 up to 30/60-50/100. The best advice, I can give you is that even if you have the most optimal starting range, you can still be a loser. I had good starting ranges when I started playing, but still lost because I played very poorly ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): ted forrest I think everyone's throwing too much flack at Ted Forrest for one bad tournament. How many bad plays have the top online poker players made' Tons! Everyone has bad days, bad tournaments, and bad hands. I really think it's funny when people see a bad play by a good player, and immediately call the person a donkey. The fact is, people make bad plays whether on tilt or simply just because of an off day. "You could be the best person in the world, but you still have to play good." Even the best in the world will play bad at times. Personally, I have played with Ted Forrest for a couple hours in ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): the ROI of college tmac2424, First off, I wouldn't follow the information of most of the posts here. Secondly, this information can easily be gathered by googling it. There have been plenty of studies on what the average college graduate makes compared to high school diplomas. Normally, they give numbers showing how much more workers with phd's, masters, and bachelors make vs those with just high school diplomas in all jobs or specific jobs. Although, I don't know the exact numbers (it's up to you to do the research if you really care), I would say a reasonable educated guess would be that you're making ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Poker vs. Wall Street Cal makes a good point. Barriers to entry is really what limits the transition of plenty of bright poker players to Wall Street. OP, I'd say I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. That is why I'm trying to get my foot in the door in Wall Street right now, and keep playing poker on the side. I'm at a cross between pursuing a career in financial services and pursuing poker further. It's really a tough decision. I think long-term EV, Wall Street probably pays more. Regardless, I don't think that the most important factor should be money, but instead, it should be what you enjoy doing. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Aussie Millions / PCA PROBLEM! It seems that the Aussie Millions package conflicts with the PCA package. I have already won my Aussie Millions seat, but planned on going to the PCA (I intend to win a PCA package within the next couple weeks, but if I don't win one I can tag along with brother and buy-in directly). Now, I have to decide whether to just go to Australia, or split time between the Bahamas and Australia sacrificing some value. So, I won my Aussie Millions seat thinking it would just be for the Main Event which starts the Jan 14th. The PCA is Jan 5th - 10th. However, I receieved an e-mail from FTP stating that ... I don't know why I always immediately come to P5s for any questions/comments/concerns I have, I just do, almost without thinking. But, for what it is worth, it wasn't really a suspicion but more of a certainty =/" SCTrojans I think you mean "it wasn't really a suspicion imo but more of a certainity to me". There is definitely no certainty here, merely suspicion. From your perspective there is certainty, but this in no way states a fact. Let's do a hypothetical situation for a second. Re(3): Is softplaying legal / allowed? - Dariominieri and Inissint in Step6 SNG on Stars 1. Hands like JTs > KJos when jamming. So, I can see a lot of hands he would rather jam than kjos. 2. Maybe, his hand looked stronger/he thought it looked stronger if he was open shoving than shoving in blind vs blind. 3. I agree it is suspicious, and I might be upset too if I'm in your position. Still, there is no real proof. IMO, Only way to see if this is true is to get dario's hole cards. So, someone has to ask hiim to offer up that hand history to clear inissint, but of course, if he did soft play, then he wouldn't do it. However, if Dario does give up his holecards, then it probably ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): Is softplaying legal / allowed? - Dariominieri and Inissint in Step6 SNG on Stars I'm not biased in any way here, and I can honestly say this proves nothing. If dario knows inissint is a good player why is he going to risk a big portion of his stack by shoving here with KJ' Inissint has 12+bb's and Dario has just under 30BB's. KJ is the worst hand to have in situations like this because when your opponent calls your likely to be dominated. I'd rather shove T9s here. If I'm Dario I don't want to double up a really good player on my left who could hurt you. Also, later if Dario gets more aggressive it could because he realizes he has to knock someone out or this will go on ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): Is softplaying legal / allowed? - Dariominieri and Inissint in Step6 SNG on Stars It seems inissint has argued his point well with plenty of evidence, and sctrojans has given absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Justice in the US is innocent until proven guilty, and I've seen no evidence whatsoever that he is guilty. Sctrojans, I think if you're going to accuse someone of something, you should atleast get the HH's from your friend and post them to support your argument. Otherwise, it really seems like you owe inissint an apology. However, I can understand how in situations like this, people can perceive collusion when there isn't any. So, it's an understandable mistake, but ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
