Army life with a Poker dream... Poker helped me make enough money to get out of the Navy and get a degree. Best advice I can give you is keep your bills low while in the Army and take some shots at poker. Really if your serious about playing take as many shots as you can and test yourself while your still in the secure enviroment of the Army. If your not a big winner by the end of your tour (steady 6-10K month profit in your last year). Then keep poker as a hobby. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Drama: Andrew Robl flames Daniel Negreanu (doubt he cares) Seems like ROBL has to be better at poker than the rest because he blew his chance at the free money that comes to these TV Poker players. And Tony G is a dick, but he has a point. Guy can play 10 tables online, but needs to take forever on the TV shows, ROBL froze. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Official 2010 Ganktober( aka National Slowroll Month) Thread Ok I love the Ganktober, but I think we are over doing it. Isn't the Point to have an unbeatable hand and then slow roll the call after the guy shoves into you' Slow roll a board of A66K3 holding 66 and you know the other guy has AA. "Working Stiffs" Personally I love my job. Stateside I work 40-50 hours week and deployed I work about 84-94 week. I just like what I do and I make good money. I still play poker, but now I can use wins to either buy something nice or take a shot at a big tournment and not worry about the bills. With that said, if your pulling down 100K year after year then enjoy your. If you barely scraping by in poker then you might want to get a back up plan. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Computer to TV cable....??? HDMI is your best option. Best place to order all your cables is If you have a newer computer and TV it should do all the work for you after you connect the HDMI. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do most pros hate poker and the lifestyle around it? BrooDogg We were in the same spot, I just decided to finished the EE degree. With that said it took me till I was 29 to finish the degree. But its worth it man, very rewarding work. I work mostly with the Marines, which I enjoy being formal Navy and the pay is 100K. Just saying its worth it to go back and get an engineering degree later in life. You would be surprised at how many older people are in this degree plan because they couldn't find work with thier other degree. Good luck man. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do most pros hate poker and the lifestyle around it? Guess I am against the grain on this one. I played for a living for about 2 years and stopped enjoying the game. Hours were long and I put on alot of wieght. Started not being happy and I am a happy person. I stopped went back to the real job, where I could look back and apprecite what I have done 30 years from now. Note: I am making much more then the $12/hr that seems to be appear in alot of these threads, and I still play for fun ( although I usally lose now :). Things might of been different if I was making 500K a year at poker but all things considered I prefer making the 100K at my 9-5 ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:badbeat jackpot at the isle, pompano park, fl True there is still the $500 max bet per bet, but since I don't play higher then 2-5NL it really never comes into affect. I used to hate the game when all I could bet is 150 on the turn when I wanted to shut the hand down right then and there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:KK in FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT When you limp KK here and don't get a raise preflop that you can hammer I feel you just turned that KK into a giant set mining hand. You have no idea where you are in the hand and I usally just let it go on the flop to a board like that. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:PLO Question on the Bubble Thank you for the advice. I guess the real problem I have here is that I was unsure what to do in this tournment situation. Cash game I am jamming this all day, but just wanted to see what others think about calling vs shoving. Thank you. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:PLO Question on the Bubble Your right, if I win I don't post. But I really was curious since the edges in omaha are so small, if I should be thinking about controlling the pot size in this spot. I will continue to Shove and pray thanks! Posted in: Poker Discussion |

PLO Question on the Bubble Not a Bad beat. I know I know, you read that and think here we go a bad beat story. Ok, This is on the bubble and I am 4th in chips. My question is, should I be 3 betting my hand here or just calling to control the pot. I have a monster hand and I tend to just 3 bet and lead out any flop here. But in PLO tournment is it better to just keep the pot small' PokerStars Game #34974618583: Tournament #209010804, $50+$5 USD Omaha Pot Limit - Level IX (200/400) - 2009/11/05 20:43:21 ET Table '209010804 1' 9-max Seat #5 is the button Seat 2: bates35 (17737 in chips) Seat 3: SpadeSkillz ... Re:Tipping During Live Cash (please read entire OP before responding) Thats very good of you. But bottom line is tipping is how the dealers make a living. Everyone has thier own storys and problems in life. Some more then others, but if you want to man up then play your poker and also go get a real job and provide them with insurance and security. Don't come on here and cry about how you can't tip anymore. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Please meet BodogBecky :) I used to play nothing but Bodog for years under El-Irish. But once the site started with the bounced checks and 4 month lead times I finally gave up. Personally I loved the software and how fast the games played. I would like to come back but it would take something special to make it worth my while. Nice to meet you either way and hopefull you can take some of these concerns we have and improve the site. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:HU Cash Game Ethics ? Wish I had quit last week. Had this guy for 5 buyins (he was just throwing money away). I gave it back in 10 hands when he cracked AA and QQ. AA vs K6 flop 692 he bets I shove K river QQ vs J9 flop J72 he bets I shove turn J So I gave it all back and after rake was down. So run when it starts going south I say.
