Re:JJ hand w/ 19bbs $3R FTP the right move was probably to shove preflop, but he didn't. when the flop hit and his opponent did bet i personally would have folded. like you said above. yes, you might have a smaller chip stack, but atleast you have chips left to make another move. on that flop....many more hands value better here then jj. the flop now has a both straight and flush draws. if the opponent had any of those, chances are he is gonna make that call. Re:Correct fold here? i don't really think a call is warranted here. its early in the tourney, so why double up someone with a coin flip situation at best. yes, he could have 33's or 22's but an over pair is likely, and two over cards your are racing. While you might have odds to call, i look at the whole picture. i could use my current stack at a later time to get more chips. besides, chances are he will push again when you have the better hand and collect those chips. just my opinion. early on in tourneys when i have a healthy stack, i try not to get involved with big pots. small ball poker works for ... Re:Call or Fold i would have limped from your position. reason being it is easier to see what you would have to call raise wise with your hand rather then raising first and then having to be put to the test like this. if you limped and saw this you would have an easier time getting away from this hand. like what everyone else said, if you know your opponents then play it accordingly. Re:Tough Spot, i would have folded your hand preflop. in reality you are praying to hit a set, flush, or straight. if you miss it could cost you a lot of money. anyway. if i were in your shoes, and two checks in front of me, i would throw a value bet out there. nothing huge that would get you in trouble, but nothing small so you can't figure out where you are in the hand. chances are you will get heads up and take it from there. if one or more players raise or call a raise you can safely get out of the hand with very little damage to your stack. there is no reason to go crazy with this hand. keep in ... Re:your play here with jj i agree with saukendar. also keep in mind that it is early in the tourney. why go broke or get crippled' you have decent chip stack, and keep in mind that you can always get them next time with a better hand. then again, if you have played with these two people and know their ranges, or have tells and know you can out play them then you could go that route.....but in this case its push or fold...no in between. a call here and you are pot committed anyway. if he hold an over pair or two high cards and hits you are pretty much DOA. good luck Posted in: Poker Discussion |
