Re:Mr.Blonde pls bring back the micro week long team comp No luck getting in touch with my teammates from the January challenge, so it looks like I need a team as well. My strengths are running like God once a week in HORSE, pat lowball hands, and an uncanny ability to flop sets. My weaknesses are 98suited, bluffing europeans, and chasing smooth 8 draws. I plan on playing about 100 tourneys - taking a couple days off from work to help the volume. I also had a couple decent scores in the last challenge back in January (mdh6424, had a couple final tables), so while I'm a donk, I'm a lucky donk. I'll start sending blind PM's this ... Re:Small or mid-range pocket pairs when 3 overs hit the flop It seems that in situation 1, it's unlikely you have the best hand now, and are usually drawing very, very thin. So fold, unless the pre-flop action allows you to represent the best hand in a convincing way. Situation 2, you need to find out now if you have the best hand or not. If you raise the pot and he folds, you win. Raise and he re-pops, you fold. If he calls, he's likely either drawing or has you beat really bad - either way, he's probably checking the turn, which gives you a free card on the river to catch your longshot set. Like everyone else said, without knowing how ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How do I start a bankroll A good friend of mine who's an unemployed student is using the $2.20 satty's to the Sunday 1/4M $11 on Stars to keep his modest roll in tact (this used to be the say to the daily $11R). These run every half-hour and pay roughly 18% of the field. His rule with a $100 deposit was: He plays 6-12 satty's a day, and cashes the winnings out to T$. He'll only use the profit T$ for tourney buy-ins. So, if he plays 10 sats (at a cost of $22), and cashes 5 (winnings of T$55), he has $33 to buy into whatever SnG's or MTT's he wants to play. By doing this, he keeps his buffer ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Please Teach Me How To Play AJo UTG+1 MTT Style B-) Min raise and get some information. Anything that shoves over you is either racing or has you beat, you can easily fold. If you get callers, especially from the blinds, it's an easy push/fold situation on the flop. Sunday major is full of weak players, but a good portion of the folks who get 1hr from the money are going to have some concept of what's going on, and I think this play looks stronger than an open-shove. Re(1): Best way to build bankroll on Stars? I built my stars bankroll playing the 27-45 man SnG's. I started with $50, playing at the $5 level. To date, I've moved up to the $10 3 to 5 tables, as well as the $4 180-man and $3 & Less MTT's, but the 3 and 5 tables SnG's are still my bread and butter, with over $2200 profit. The reason I did this is the play is more open and "poker-esque" than your standard 1-table and/or turbo 1-table SnG's, allowing for more post-flop play and less push-or-fold poker, but the varience and dry spells aren't as great as they can be for the bigger MTT's. Typical first prizes are usually 10-to-14 times ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Most absurd $4.40/180 SnG Final Table ever Last night, I'm in a $4.40 180 SnG on Stars, and get to the final table with an average stack size. About an hour later, we're down to three, and I take a horrible beat that leaves me with about 15K in chips with blinds at 1500/3000. Stack sizes look as such: Me - 15K Villian - 146K Player 3 - 109K I go on an awesome rush, and take down 12 of the next 17 pots. In hand 18, I double up and completely cripple Villian when I flop TPTK and he pushes me all-in and misses his open-ended straight draw. Stack sizes now look like: Me - 170K Villian - 22K Player 3 - 78K Two hands later, I get T7o ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Turn and River play - Moderate hands with trouble boards Pt. 1 (This post is a continuation of a couple hand histories from a Stars Deepstack tourney that I posted in the hand advice section. You can view the HH's here: One aspect of tournament play that I've been struggling with is play on later streets with moderate hands. While flopped sets, straights, and flushes are often "armor-piercing bullets" when facing typical high cards/pocket pair opponents, I find myself getting into trouble with these hands more and more against loose and tricky players. One scenario that I was faced with twice last night was play on 3rd, 4th, and 5th ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

2 Hands from $33 Deepstack that railed me - please comment Spent a few minutes reviewing hands from a deepstack tonight. These two were the only ones that stood out (out of 160+) that looked even remotely close to bad play... and only because I couldn't get away when I felt I might be beat. Comments are appreciated. Hand 1 Level 5 (3rd Hour) of a $33 Deepstack on Stars. I've been playing fairly tight, not showing down anything less than premium hands. I have limped a time or two in traffic in LP, folding down when missing the flop, but haven't shown a bluff. Villian is a fairly TAG player, but has some moves, and isn't afraid to put a loose ...
