Re(1): Hand from 1-2NL
Lol, I can't believe how many people are saying to fold here. It's a paired board with straight and flush draws, marc's call is rarely a 3 imo, the only lock hand he could have here is 77 hoping one of you is on a draw that you'll hit on the turn. keep in mind that they're both solid multitablers, and marc basically limped UTG in a shorthanded game (first two folded). typically he's going to have a sc here, or a low pocket pair. Jester's minraise doesn't mean much, he could be tryign to take it away from what looks like a cbet from you, he could be raising a hand like A7, or he could be ...

Re(1): 2/4 hand discuss
I will give my NOOB .5/1 and 1/2, with a splash of 2/4 advice to you. I do like to bet this flop most of the time, cause I would bet it with AK, 45s, AQ, AJ, 86s...a whole mix of hands that did/didn't hit the flop. I believe the turn is a check/call most of the time, as he can have one feasible draw, and a bunch of other hands that may be trying to steal the pot from you. These hands OOP require reads, if you're calling the turn you should generally call a blank river, as nothing has changed.

Re(3): 100 max NL cash game hand
Just because he minraised doesnt mean he has a set here, the board is superdrawy so there are plenty of other hands that are in his range. If the flop is 238 and he minraises, yes, this is much more likely.

Re(1): 100 max NL cash game hand
Duke, I make it more than 5 preflop. If I read it right, there were 3 limpers. I'd probably make it $6 minimum here, but I guess $5 is fine too. On the flop, you led out $10 into $13, and he minraised. Minraises are generally air or monsters, but in this case I think the bare 6 will often make this play. If you guys both have $120, after your $60 raise you've got around $55 left and are asked to call that to win $~245 or so. Against his range I think this is something you must call 100% of the time, given slightly under 5:1 odds here. However, I don't necessarily think it was the correct ...

Re(1): Am I really this bad?
Dcal If I'm you here, this is the perfect time to raise the flop. Who knows how donkish this guy is, but against a normal 2-4 player, raising the flop here is basically mandatory. They are capable of 2 barrelling with nothing, so you need get aggressive with your draws. If you play it for a raise, he will definitely check the turn, and there you can decide whether you want to check the turn, or semibluff it yet again. On the turn there, I feel like he's completely retarded, and you should have gotten a fold out of him 100% of the time, so that's definitely a tough break. phoenix

Re(1): Dont Understand His Calls 1/2 NL
AFink, in your OP it was obviously "better" to make these bets as you did, small in relation to the pot size. I hope in general though, you're betting more like 13-14 on the flop, followed up with another 2/3 of the pot on the turn. phoenix

Re(5): Fold QQ here?
NY, while I respect your analysis, it just doesnt apply at the limits we'retalking about. I understand the flow and psychological nature ofhigher stakes games makes this nearly a never fold in laggy, veryaggressive games, and oftentimes it is correct to shove here. given that, my point is that I think the villain has AA/KK so much herethat if he were to commit his stack, he would be losing more than the$6 he has committed already, if this exact situation was played out10,000 times. I see in your profile that you play higher stakes, 3/6to 5/10, where the math is ingrained in every players ...

Re(1): What is your play here?
I make it $10 preflop first off, then I bet 25 into a 30 pot on theflop. Assuming action stays the same, the pot will be $106 on the turn. QT and QJ are the only hands that beat you, so I would definitely lead out for around ~70 here, but fold if I get shoved on depending on the opponent. If they are solid (which they might not be limp/calling pre) this should usually always be a FH because its so easy to put you on AK here betting 2 streets into 2 players on a board like that. QQQ might raise this turn, but would probably just call

Re(1): 2-4NL What's the play here?
to be honest i don't even raise T8o from the cutoff a lot, maybe a 85/15 fold/raise split mostly dependent on my table image. I easily fold to his 3bet preflop, you miss soo many flops and even if you hit a T or 8 you can't call a flop bet if you plan to fold the turn. Don't raise pre, but if you do, don't call his reraise, and if you end up doing that as well, fold on the flop, and if you don't fold on the flop, easily fold on the turn. phoenix

Re(1): 2/4 NL hand, am I a donk?
my advice to you, and i mean no disrespect, is to definitely move down to $25nl, unless the money doesn tmatter to you, and learn to play nl. You played your AA very poorly here. Besides the fact that you don't have a full stack (probably helped you here), you played every street pretty bad. Preflop I'd bump it up to around $28 instead of $20, you dont want to play a big 4way pot with AA in a full ring game, especially if you offer such high implied odds, as you did (meaning if you'll go all in no matter what). On the flop the pots $80, and you're facing a minbet (lol) and basically a ...

Re(1): no way i can get away from this right?
this dude is obv a fish, but you seriously played your KK really bad here, make it $1.25 preflop 100% of the time please. Then when you get 3 callers, you can just bet $5 into the pot and be committed so you don't get into a weird situation like this where its pretty obvious you're beat but he's too short to fold. I mean, what is he minraising the turn with, he played his hand exactly like what he actually had, 67 or a set a majority of the time with a little AJ KJ mixed in

Re(1): Whos the donk here?
Ok, I'll be the first to give a real response. If you truly have seen him minraise you, then overbet pots like this with nothing, if you have actually seen his cards after a situation like this, then you can assume that you have 15 outs (spades, K's, 8's) discounted because he might have the ace here say 20% of the time (arbitrary but I had to give it a number). Oftentimes even vs donks you can find some sort of rhyme or reason in their minds, even if it's not the same as what we would think. If you truly think you have 15 outs, then shoving is fine because you are slightly ahead, and I ...

Re(1): Fold QQ here?
Given that this guy is a normal/standard player, anyone telling you to call and see a flop is giving you the worst advice. This hand is simple. Fold>Push>Call. A guy 4betting an UTG raise and UTG+1 reraise does not have JJ, TT or AQ ever if he's standard. Edit: nyrocketman is giving you horrible advice, please don't listen to it. "if i know i can get you off of QQ preflop, you have no chance of beating me" lol, so we're just going to 4bet an UTG raise and UTG+1 reraise, cause OBV we always have AA and they fold' I dont get how you can say it's 2 dimensional to read this 4bet as only ...

Re(1): Cash game hand. Thoughts?
If you have reads on glory, that would make the hand a lot easier to comment on. If he's a standard regular at 1/2 I can see him raising any PP right there, so 44-88 is NOT out of his range. I think he would play a set like this oftentimes, there's no reason he should be scared of you having a straight here, so his hand is good. He may even have 55 but that would be one hell of a flop call. The way you played your hand basically means you've got an overpair or AK/AQ, so it is somewhat weird that he would leadpush into you on the turn, knowing you'd probably fold. Still, I think you're beaten ...

Yes, he sent me an instant message when I turned on my comp saying he was deep in the FTP $100 6max 30k guaranteed tournament that he qualified for, and I pulled up the table and helped him out. He's a cool guy, and a sng player so I was helping him to understand some of the subtleties of nl cash, and thought I'd help him in this tourney as well. As far as ethics are concerned, yes this is a sticky situation. However, there are many coaches that you can hire online at sites like that will do this same thing, whether it be in limit, nl, or tourneys. I'm not exactly sure where it stands ...

I think it would be appropriate for us both to be congratulated...I also didn't edit the OP whatsoever, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. I guess my point is that P5's isn't really a poker forum. It caters to tourneys only, and only 1 of the 4 forums actually contains anything based on improving as a player...hand advice. Occasionally gems pop up in Poker Discussion, but not a whole lot, and when they do its basically only about tournaments. This is probably why I haven't/won't be posting here much, as even a brag post (that's what this was, not just for Wardo but for myself) ...

lol flame me all you want, but this is exactly why p5's <<<<<<< any other poker forum. Instead of just being congratulatory, I get flamed. I don't lie. Wardo wouldn't have gone that far without me coaching, he himself said it. Probably why he shipped me $270 after the win as well. I just posted the thread because I was excited that he/we could pull a 3rd out, because I rarely play MTTs, Wardo plays sngs, and the field included guys like Rizen. Didn't mean to come off as cocky, just telling it like it is. phoenix

CaptWardo takes 3rd in the 100 6man on FTP
My buddy that I met by stacking at 100nl heads up ims me a few hours ago and lets me know he qualified for the 100 6max 30k guaranteed on FTP. So I pull up the table and start watching/coaching, and he pulls out 3rd!!!! Questionable shove at the end, but hell, one impressive performance versus some very, very solid players. Especially from a 12 turbo sng grinder, and someone who's just learning nlcash. Nice job CaptWardo! phoenix

Re(1): 50 NL, did i misplay this?
Ok Preflop is fine. On the flop, bet more. You bet 3.5 into what looks like a $7.5 pot, that's just too small especially OOP vs two opponents. Your hand is good a lot here, bet $5-$5.5 on the flop. On the turn, I don't like a raise. In general when an opponent (esp @ 50nl and lower) check/calls and then leads the turn like that, its a pretty strong hand. I'd advise just calling the turn, and seeing what he does on certain rivers. If he bets big again, you have to fold your hand simply because its rare for someone to check call flop and lead both turn and river without a hand that beats ...
