you played this hand perfectly, dont worry about it, just horrible runner runner bs. Your opponent should have folded to your raise on the flop, you sucked him in perfectly and he hit his 3 outer on the river...RIGGED

Re(1): 1/2 nl hand
call, he has AK sooooooo often here, I think SB is most likely to have a draw(probably something like KQhh), if he had 222 he pushes to your $30 bet probably right' i think you can take the guy who overbet pushes off of 222 since he reraised preflop, so ur basically afraid of AA or TT, both of which would be case hands, i call instantly here. im interested in knowing the result =)

Re(1): interesting $1mil hand
If you KNOW that he only makes this play with TT+, AK, then this is a fold as you only have 43.229% equity against that range...so the key factor is... Can he have 77-TT here'...Think...(what would he do with TT-77 in this situation') Against a range of 77+, AKs, AKo you have 54.828% equity. tough situation especially against a super tight player. I dont like a smooth call preflop. put him allin or fold i think. Calling will just confuse things for you (especially out of position) unless you hit a J. as it gives him a chance to bluff with TT-77 on a AK4 board. Not sure, how id play it, but ...

Re(1): Limit Hold em
"There are some hands I don't play regardless of math"... Poker, limit poker in particular, is almost completely based on math. Sure, hand reading skills are important, but sometimes, given the right odds, its ok to go in with the worst hand at the time because the odds dictate. If "the math" says its a call, then its a call, and by folding you are basically giving money away, but if you like that, then fine, thats up to you. Ill stick to the math tyvm.

Re(1): this hand is KILLING ME
i would check raise allin... (who cares if its an overbet...when he bets 600 there is 3000 in the pot, i take it down right there) Or....i check call and check raise turn allin on non club turn, on a club turn, i probablt lead out for like 1400, and possibly fold to an allin, i just push the flop though. The check/raise half his stack=/

Re(1): Limit Hold em
A) Call, i dont know the math, but you have a lot of possibilities for flopping trips/2pair/straight/a strong draw, getting 7.5 to 1 on ur money, this is a fairly standard call for me. B) Fold, u dont have many possibilities other than to spike the remaining 2 2's in the deck. And while a big pot is brewing, you have to call 2 bets cold (only getting 6:1 assuming SB and BB call as well...not enough odds to hit ur set) And while you may have implied odds to win a large pot vs a TPTK type hand, there are also situations where reverse implied odds may come into effect in a set over set ...

Re(2): Theory Question, -Chip EV, but +$ev???
ahhhh, that makes sense....(duh *slaps self in the head*), i guess what im really concerned with learning about is less obvious situations, i understand the conceptual differences between Cev and $ev, and i understnad that in 99% of situations, +Cev situations are ones that ought to be taken as they are as a rule +$ev for the most part. I was just interested in learnign about more abstract situations where a -Cev, +$ev situation might not be as obvious. (A suggestion to read about the gigabet dilemma has only served to spark my interest in more adequately equipping myself with more tools in ...

Re(2): Theory Question, -Chip EV, but +$ev???
Jay, but what about something being -Chip EV, but +$ev' This example shows a neutral or slightly +Cev play, and a neutral or very very slightly -ev play. I know for a fact that there are other situations that are much more drastic (+Cev, -$ev) situations. I understand that fact It just got methinking about the inverse of those situations, where if a certain play on a certain hand could technically lose you chips everytime you make it as a direct result of the hand, but what about the "uncalculatable" ev you gain either from a loose table image or from setting up a table dynamic where you can ...

Theory Question, -Chip EV, but +$ev???
Ok, so this hand from a 36 man FPP satellite to sunday million on stars got me thinking... I mean i have 6800 chips and 3 people move allin ahead of me at 100/200 level and its gonna cost me about 2500 more to call to win a total of 10,000 chips, so basically i need to have 25% equity in the hand to make this call correct. Ok, so...lol...i dont know what i was really thinking here...so my call was definitely - Chip EV , as it turns out i only had like 10% equity in the hand... But, if i win i have like 14,000 chips and a much larger chance to win the tourney, which is all that really matters ...

Re(1): I misplayed this hand, but once in this position what is ur play?
raise preflop or fold, id say either go for a checkraise on flop, or lead with a smaller bet, as your hand can only improve, i dont like a checkcall on flop. you have a very strong draw at this point, and not many hands have you completely crushed, even vs a set you have outs, i insta call here

Re(1): I Ari'd it
I think that this situation is a common one. Where a play is approximately neutral or perhaps slightly -Cev, but has the potential to be +ev. What makes poker so great, is that there are endless variable in each hand at each table and in each separate tournament. In order to correctly assess the value of a 50k stack after this hand, (and you obv know this already Jeff) table position, proximity to the bubble, table image, players at the table, etc. all can play a huge role in determining the value of a 50k stack. In this particular situation was this a +ev move' --- (assuming that the Cev is ...

nah, but seriously...i agree with you that mike sexton doesnt get enough props becuase hes the announcer and all, he definitely has game. I actually found one of his poker books to be really helpful for me as a n00b. Also, i think Ted Forrest is another underrated player. He is a really solid pro, who doesnt get much publicity and excels in a variety of games not just NL Holdem.

1/2 NL Hand How Weak Is this fold? Help??
Ok so my opponent in this hand, it was like his 4th or 5th hand at the table, so i really had no prior reads...Based on how this hand went down, i for sure put him on a club flush draw on the turn...when the river paired 9s on the river, i really didnt think there was any hand that would be played like this that would call if i bet, although you never know at these limits, the guy could have an ace for all i know. so anyways...on the river i check.(probably a mistake...) but i was thinking he was gonna check behind and fold if i bet anyways, but then he did something that surprised me...he ...
