Re:basebaldy -- cardplayer player of the year
Schtoof, your boy is a class act, even if he did play a tourny last month in which his only purpose was to knock the old man out -- pretty funny WTG Eric.

Re:NYC advice.......
Well, since you're going to NYC, NOT Chicago, I won't be a total Dbag and tell you about Chicago pizza... Best pizza in NY may be at Luzzo's ,, 1st ave, East Village -- but it's really Italian pizza not NY Pizza. For NY Style go to Giorgio's, Upper East side, 2nd Ave around 70th St. Even a Chicagoan could choke it down in secret. Go to the Village, do something in Central Park, go to Scores, sports bars are the same everywhere so don't bother and... don't waste any time sleeping. fajz

Re(1): Venetian DeepStak Extravaganza
It's worth the trip. Nice hotel, great poker room for tourney play, decent structure. I'll be out next week! Haven't decided whether I'll play any satty's or not. In July, Satty's seemed to much a turbo donkout.

Re(1): Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza Satellites?
Played in these during the WSOP, great tournaments so I'm going in Feb. Excellent room, top class dealers, very well run. My two cents on the Satty's -- The structures were fast enough that I passed and just bought in and will probably do so again in Feb. Good Luck.

Re(1): Sun Million..... Should I gamble?
For me this is an easy fold - your almost certainly behind and you're NegEV, but WTFDIK' In the alternate reality that is Starz I get my chips in the pot with superior odds 80% of the time and get cracked by some donk-ass-biatch 70% of those times. Maybe all these -EV shovers got Starz Donkaments figured out. Hope you suck out and chip-up

Re(1): Let's fight for our right to keep playing poker online!
Keep it up Engineer. Your efforts are appreciated. I think we met at the Capitol Hill event -- a few of us had dinner with the poker pros -- if you're the guy I think you are, I was at the table next to yours eating dinner with Annie and Howard. pretty funny to think of you being a right winger at the DNC Club -- you did look a little uncomfortable! You are doing good work. I also exert what influence I can. Hopefully other poker players will speak up en masse. Message to online players: If your personal Member of Congress or Senator is prone to buckle when the Faux-Christians like Dobson ...

Starzz doesn't like me...
Question regarding MTT's on Stars vs UB and FTP. I run very well on UB, like the tournament structure there, do ok on FTP, but I never ever run well on Stars. I don't believe the conspiracy theorists and all their "rigged" talk, but I'm looking for a way to improve my results on Pokerstars. It is typical for me to lose with best hand, except for KK. The last three straight MTT's I played on starz I got bounced with KK vs AA. Two of them were big blind vs. small blind. Just how often are KK and AA in the small and big blind' Anybody feel their random card generator favors exciting hands' I'm ...

Re(1): any tips for "getting my mind right"?
I went through something similar this winter. I took 3 weeks off from poker. When I came back, I played fewer tables at once and stuck to my favorite events. The poker was more fun and the results much better.

Re(1): *The joy of the WSOP!! (Written by an "old" guy)*
Hope you do well my friend. Similar life situation, but single Dad and run my own business. I played in my first WSOP event last week -- event #35. It was a learning experience -- alot of variance in play but def. some good players. I won a seat in ME, but don't think I'll play due to family commitments and not too happy about it. This old guy will root for you. BTW, Kathy Leibert put me out when she hit a 7 outer to beat my nut str8. It's hard to walk away from the table after that. I plan to play more live MTT's, but not real thrilled with the blind structure and need to chip up quickly in ...

Re(4): Internet cheats in Vegas
actually, I do get it. Card counting is not illegal and nobody gets prosecuted for it for that very reason. Do your research. The common, but incorrect belief is a product of the casino companies succesful PR campaign to influence the thought process of the uninformed and weakminded. just because .0001 % of blackjack players can win money over the long term does not mean they are cheats -- just good. cheers mate

Graps, I understand your point, but for rthe record, Stu Ungar did not do anything illegal. Counting cards without the aid of a device is not illegal. btw, Ungar took his case to the Court of Appeals and won.

Re(1): hotel for WSOP.
I'm staying at the Rio right now and although it's not close to the best hotel in Vegas, if you're here to play the WSOP, it's so much better to stay in the hotel. I've got a 15 minute walk to the poker room and can hit the starbucks on my way!

Re(1): U.S. to keep Internet gambling ban: USTR
Patience may be required. If this bill does not succeed, future efforts may. Our best opportunity to lift the financial transaction ban will be to attach the bill as a rider onto a major budget bill that is expected to sail through. Barney is a wily operator and may make it happen. If that doesn't happen, we'll have to hope for a Democratic majority and Presidency to bring all the fishies back to online poker. Personally, I am still modestly optimistic.

Re(1): THE TIME TO ACT HAS COME, ONLINE POKER PLAYERS, MAKE YOUR MOVE!!
For those wondering if this is too good to be true -- it's not. Spudd speaks the truth. I've been talking to a Franks staffer about this for months. Barney is sincere in his principled stand... and sees this as an industry that should be a revenue producer. This stupid Act is an excellent reminder of the importance of personal liberties that we should value as individuals. Often people don't value other people's liberties, but guard jealously those near and dear. Barney gets it but those who see themselves as moral guardians of society never get it. The most effective thing poker players ...

Re(1): Deep in FTP main event
A little history of the table I think should help analysis of this hand. I was at the table (Zanshin1) but I don't really remember the hand. Wisco is tricky and he had been acting as table bully for awhile with a lot of big raises. My impression is that on most of those hands he was pushing lower stacks off the pot with little or nothing. What would worry me here is that his raise is too small. I think he's enticing you to go over the top. I'd put Wisco on a big hand and lay down the 9s.
