Re(2): Poker Boycott - formerly (A not very modest proposal) In the light of day my agreements with Doug fade somewhat. While I agree that Full Tilt has been more active than most in promoting the work of the PPA, I still think that some of the cash used to charter a private jet and fly a pile of people down to the Aussie Millions could have been better spent shooting an anti-UIGEA commercial. Frankly, I think the genie is out of the bottle as far as amending the concept of the boycott, and it does need to go forward as initially planned. I still think that Full Tilt is the least of many evils in this fight, but certainly could do better about putting ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): A not very modest proposal Are they on our side' With the exception of a few major players who have interests in sites (Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Greg Raymer, etc.) what major statement have the sites made objecting to this law, these regulations, these arrests' I've missed it. Mike Sexton came out and organized a protest, but the people collecting the rake are just moving on to the greener pastures of Europe and Asia. Even por Jamie Gold lost his gig over this! Okay, I'm somewhat less than sympathetic for Gold's loss, but if Calvin Ayres wanted to make fighting this legislation a priority, he could pull a few ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): A not very modest proposal While that may keep some people from the boycott, it's more important that we get as much participation as possible from people who can't afford to play in the FTOPS. Those are the sites' bread and butter customers, and the ones they stand the greatest chance of losing forever with this current climate. Winning players and large-roll players are great, because they're advocates for a site and walking advertisements, but the day to day new players and constant turnover in recreational players is what has made this poker boom happen. So if we can get all the little guys to stay away from the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): A not very modest proposal Thanks. The PPA keeps talking about the 50 million people in the US that play poker. Well if we showed the industry the kind of market leverage we really have, we as a group would be taken seriously. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Sorry, one more PPA post And more to the point, as long as we're all trying to come up with workarounds to Neteller and new ways to get money into the site, why should the sites step up and put their money where their mouths are' If they put out one weekend's worth of rake to the PPA, that would be a massive shot in the arm to that organization's funding, and money = access. Until the sites and the major players put money into the PPA, the PPA will not be able to work effectively for the players and the sites. And for the record, I am and have been a member since early last summer. So my money is where my mouth is. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Poker Boycott - formerly (A not very modest proposal) My plan to get more attention paid to this issue by the folks that run the sites. Re(4): Neteller Withdrawals That's exactly what I did. I called back a couple of times until I got someone smarter, or more willing to help a brutha out. I was also told initially that my EFT withdrawal was unable to be cancelled, but last night I got in touch with a different customer service rep who cancelled my EFT, I moved money onto my Neteller card, and the cash is now comfortably in my pocket. Re(4): Vegas, $.25/.50- $.50/1- $1/2? If you've got limited time, try the MGM or Bally's, both full of action monkeys. Stay away from the ridiculousness that is the Luxor, three blinds and a $50 max buy-in make it a silly push-fest. All the other strip casinos I've played are about even, with MGM having the most drunken fratboys. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): serious question about fulltilt If your account gets hacked and the appropriate login and password information is put in, what is Full Tilt supposed to do' If my computer gets hacked and someone steals my Bank of America login and password and uses that information to steal my money, they are criminals, but the bank is not going to give me my money back, because their system worked the way it was designed to. The correct login and passwords were input, their responsibility stops there. Had the thief been able to crack an account without having the login and password information, then there would be some responsibility on ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): Does the sponsoring site really benefit that much? Also think of the amount of money that it costs to get your brand mentioned on the poker table (Party & Milwaulkee's Beast). Every time they showed a picture of Cunningham, Full Tilt's brand recognition improved with the masses. Bodog got so much more out of having Gold at the FT (and win) than FTP, Stars or Party because their market position wasn't as strong to start with. Even folks who've never played online poker have seen the poker-playing dog commercials for Party, but Bodog just got millions of dollars worth of advertising time, all for the low low price of $10K. Pretty good ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): cash game bank roll help I'd drop down until your BR was comfortably above $3k. It's not a bad idea to hang out around the 30 buy-in mark for a given level. I play mostly $.25/.50 NL with a BR of about $2500, and I occassionally play a bit at the NL100 games, but the swings are a little much for my roll right now. Once I crack the $3k mark I'll play that level more consistently, but right now I do most of my play a step lower and take the occassional swing at the NL100 tables. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Charity, Poker and its PERCIEVED IMAGE! I'm not sure exactly what you were saying, but here are some pretty good examples of charitable works done by poker players this year alone. 1) Mike Sexton donated $500,000 of his $1,000,000 win at the Tournament of Champions to 5 different charities ($100,000 each) 2) Gavin Smith has rounded up tons of items for charity auctions for , a charity that he has championed. Smith also has given $2K of his own money to this charity, along with Josh Arieh and Phil Hellmuth. 3) Phil Gordon's Bad Beat on Cancer charity has dozens of WSOP participants pledging at least 1% of their WSOP winnings to ... The "hick" turned out to not only be an excellent driver, but a genius at marketing and self-promotion, and a successful entreprenuer (sp') as well, founding his own race team when few drivers had the wherewithal to try. Re(3): How do i Build A Bankroll? One concept of bankroll building is to never have more than 10% of your roll on the table at a given time. Chris Ferguson talks about an experiment he conducted where he turned $1 on to $20K in the course of 5 months by following this strategy. 1) Sit down with 5% of your bankroll. Obviously he had to risk a higher percentage of his roll at first, but that's the theory. 2) Whenever the amount on the table is = or > 10% of your total roll, stand up from the table and sit down at another table with 5% again. For example, if your roll is $100, sit down with $5, and if you run it to over ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Check out the WSOP website to see what $1500 event you want to play in, cause there are several. The Imperial Palace has rooms for $50 a night midweek the first part of the series, so you might want to check them out. It's not the greatest place, but it's mid-strip and clean, and what more do you really want out of a hotel' Posted in: Poker Discussion |
