Re(1): Call me an optomist, but I will be buying Party Stock As quoted from the front page article on Yahoo right now: "PartyGaming said in a statement, "If the President signs the act into law, the company will suspend all real money gaming business with U.S. residents." That's not good for business (your stock) and that's certainly not good for online poker (this is partypoker speaking here, not some small site). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): How do you handle this situation? I agree, just call, then let him hang himself. If he sucks out on the flop, then like Mayor said, he woulda done it anways had he called preflop. Your a huge favorite there heads up. **If other players starting calling that raise as well pre-flop then all-in 100% of the time-- since everyone else folded, good time for a smooth call to induce him to keep firing. I'm a nobody, but thats my take. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Poker etiquette/strategy when multiplayer pot, 1 player all in ^^^^exactly No reason at all not to start some action on that pot, you got a solid flop for your hand. Proceed as you normally would. If you missed the flop entirely, but decide to come out firing into a dry sidepot and force everyone to fold, then lose to his Ace high vs. your King high, that's the scenerio that people have a problem with. Re(2): Thoughts on going pro If you make your entire living off of playing poker, I don't care if you make $30,000 or $30,000,000 a year, your a "pro". Just because your not on TV and don't have endorsments doesn't mean your not a professional poker player. If it pays the bills, and it's your profession, then your a pro. Re(2): I think..... (DUFF) I would love to hear what he has to say if he'd be willing. He sounds at peace with his descision, so he might be interested in helping others. I think it would be helpful for someone to discuss the "dark side" of poker that never really gets talked about by someone who has been through all the ups and downs and lived to tell about it. Re(2): HOH HOH's are by far the best books available IMO....As with any series of books though, the first book is obviously going to try and bring you up to speed before going deeper. You will probably find HOH2 more informational since you have already developed the foundation from other sources. Read v2 then come talk about how useless and outdated everything is. Re(4): Dimtri Nobles = Tiffany Williamson or Aaron Kantor? Bullshit, he played horribly. I would love having that guy at my table. Your right, not many people can play that style cause usually they're on the rail within the first 2 levels. I like how you referece the one hand that worked out for him, and fail to mention the previous 10 or last 10 that he doubled someone up or sucked out horribly (either of which he was WAAAAAY behind when the money went in). Re(4): How Stars Breaks Tables It's been my experience most casinos (every casino I have ever played in) have a pre-designated table break order (whether they make it public or not is their business). If it is public, then you know exactly when your table is going to break. Generally they break the tables closest to whereever they have cash games running, so they can get those empty tables full of people paying a rake ASAP, it's not rocket science. It may be "random" as to where you go, but the order in which you go isn't. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): Dimtri Nobles = Tiffany Williamson or Aaron Kantor? Dimitri's performance was probably the worst poker I've ever seen on an edited broadcast....And that says allot given how horrible Mr. Kantor was. You'd think Dimitri would learn his lesson after doubling someone up about 10 hands in a row, gets realetiveily shortstacked himself TWICE, goes all-in with the worst hand TWICE, and gets lucky to suck it out TWICE--- this coming after he has doubled someone up the 10 previous hands he's played. Amazing. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): My come to Jesus meeting with a dealer at a casino Just because a women posts something does not mean the men are going to immediately jump on it and "downgrade" them for having the "nerve" to post. I had absolutely no idea (nor do I care) if fabtex is a man/women, and I was simply commenting on the post that was made.... Just because I disagree with the OP and challenge the merits of his/her argument, doesn't make me sexists, and it's really kinda sad you take such offense to someone disagreeing with the OP just because you think it was a women (implying that's the only reason we/I disagree with the OP). Re(3): My come to Jesus meeting with a dealer at a casino I agree with Gamble (and others), you weren't even faced with a big decisions here. You have middle pair, and are facing a $2 (minimum) bet' WTH is so difficult'! If your having to take time to make this kind of decision, then he's right, you need to stick to online play or something. (although him actually saying that was crossing the line...) Your trying to "do the math", how hard is it figure how many $2 bets are in the pot, when it really doesn't even matter because the pot will be laying you sufficient odds to see another card for $2 REGARDLESS!! I appreciate when dealers keep the game ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(7): Daniel Negreanu is a good man It's great DN is taking time for the kid, I give him credit for that. I still wouldn't go as far as to start making him a saint though, he is far from that, if we're going to talk "character". I used to follow DN quite closely, as I he was one of my favorite players to watch, but as I looked a little closer I came to realize he's a jerk to people allot of the time, and says things to other players that is just plain degrading (and your probably thinking, "yeah so does everyone...." Perhaps so, but, DN takes it to another level sometimes, and that level crosses the line). He always comes off ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): Fold KK Pre-Flop Folding KK pre-flop in a tournament seems a bit mythical.... People claim to have done it, but I've never seen it done, and I've never done it. (except for the Tuesday WSOP broadcast where Hank Azaria folded KK pre-flop against AA..... pretty good laydown I'd say for a non-professional). The only scernerio I could envision would be very late position, and then watching 3 or 4 players in front of you go all-in for huge amounts of money, and then you can probably safely assume someone has AA. It seems to me it's nearly always a -EV fold though in a standard MTT tourney because players will ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): no rebuy winning it I call bs on your bs call. Re-buy tourney's are wild and crazy in the first hour.... If you pick up a big hand and get 5 callers and it holds up, then you don't NEED to rebuy. It only takes one or two huge hands to accumlate so many chips that it doesnt' make sense to rebuy. Then play good poker for the rest of the tournament and it's very doable. Careful with that word "impossible".... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): Daniel Negreanu / WPT Lawsuit Who's right? Your right, I heard an interview with Howard & Greg Raymer discussing it.... They tried long and hard to work with the WPT (they afterall, still wanted to play in the big events) but it fell on deaf ears and so they were forced to take the only action they could. I am curious to see what the outcome ultimately will be, but any outcome that does not have ALL the top pros in the biggest events I can't imagine being good for (televised) poker. Re(4): Daniel Negreanu / WPT Lawsuit Who's right? I took WSOP into account (which I count as 1), and allot of EPT's are taped as WPTs are they not' I don't think there are that many $10k+ events though, outside of the WPT. Maybe I'm wrong, I've played in exactly zero $10,000 buy-in tournaments in my life. Either way, the WPTs are the "big" ones, that's not disputable. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Daniel Negreanu / WPT Lawsuit Who's right? Actually that's not true (Dyzalot), I don't know the exact count now, but I think the last few years there have been about 13 major poker events a year (and by major, I mean $10,000 buy-in events). These events are almost exclusively WPT events, and this is in part due to the great success of the WPT, and the willingness of casinos capable of putting on such a tournament glady going along with WPT so they can get the TV expsure and be touted as big poker venues. Now the WSOP has circuit events, so that opens up the games a bit more, but outside of that, the only ones I can think of are the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Daniel Negreanu / WPT Lawsuit Who's right? Daniel Negreanu has an interesting blog posted regarding his opinions on the lawsuit against the WPT.... WPT finally released a formal response to the lawsuit and of course Daniel is sounding off again. Just curious what your opinions are on the matter' It's a bit of a long read, but the subject matter is interesting. Personally, I think the WPT does use their significant influence on major poker tournaments to dictate certain rules that could be percieved as monopolistic, but then, they did play a large part in the poker explosion so I can see their (Daniel's) side too. I'm on ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
