Re:When have you blown a deep run in an mtt? after looking at the hh, you gots to get stacks in in the first hand. It just does not matter how big the money at the ft is to you. Getting stacks in is way way too profitable to pass up/make life difficult by flatting. I wouldn't mind a pot control line in the 2nd hand if effective stacks were deeper but on this flop you have to get it in. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:When have you blown a deep run in an mtt? Try not to beat yourself up about it. I'm fairly profitable in mtt's and I've punted plenty of stacks deep and in critical situations. Obviously some people will be better at moving chips than others, but anyone will inevitably run into these spots where they seemingly throw away a very good opportunity when little could actually be done. With that said, look into icm a little bit to understand the difference between chip equity and dollar equity and why accumulating chips in marginal spots isn't what it's sometimes cracked up to be late in mtt's. Re:Hand near final table bubble Full Tilt 28k gtd. Eh I'm not going to look his stats up but I'll assume he's a poor player since he opened with half his stack the previous orbit. With that in mind, I'm probably folding since bad randoms somehow show up with real hands here too much. If he was a decent to good player I'm calling more often because his shove looks like 44-77, AT-AJ a lot because he can't fold and doesn't want to call reshoves Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:" I had Queens" Darvin Moon tells his wife. I saw mr moon two nights ago at the majestic wheeling island casino where he won his main event satty. Nice guy and all so nothing against him personally but my friend talked to him for 20 minutes over dinner the night before and during their conversation, Darvin said that he 'made 1 mistake at the final table' and I'm nearly positive he wasn't talking about this play. Just lol @ his run Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:fixed holdem question winning in tough hold'em games by stoxtrader is really good. alot of it wont be applicable at .5-1 but it still has the basics that will help you beat that level. There are some great limit players on cardrunners as well Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Variance in Limit No offense or anything, but if you want to be stubborn and think you're going to breeze through this limit while you constantly build your bankroll you're very, very likely to have a wake-up call. If you're playing full ring live it's going to seem like the variance isn't very high but when you hit a bad run don't say you weren't offerred advice. In limit you cannot as easily manipulate the size of the pot and bet(obviously) and this has implications for variance. And reducing variance by check calling is not at all a good reason for check calling imo. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Variance in Limit The variance is huge. Play enough hands and you will realize this. You will have sessions that make you question whether you have forgotten the majority of what you knew about limit hold'em. Make sure you are rolled for the limits you're playing. As with any small sample size in any form of poker, you cannot have possibly played enough hands to realize what the game's going to throw at you in terms of variance or hourly win rate. ESPN baseball commercial Has anyone seen the commercial where fans of different teams are saying things like "I definitely see the postseason [for their team]" or "I'm thinking penant" or shit like that'... one of the last lines of the commercial is " something beyond optimism" as in fans are overly optimistic about their team and how baseball is something to cherish and some other bs. Well the kid with the pirates hat on says "we're headed in the right direction" with a tone that he couldn't convince himself with... the overly optimistic fan of the pirates ... Re:Low stakes limit holdem help... not to be overly critical but you couldnt possibly be remotely close to optimal. your results will very likely continue to be bad unless you reduce the number of tables you play. you are undoubtedly missing many important bets every hour Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this an awful call by me? Players really should get out of the habit of looking at a spot like this and saying something like KJ doesn't beat much or it is beaten by even some bad hands that he's shoving. You should be thinking about it in terms of ranges and equity. Cronk, I'm assuming you don't have pokerstove. Download it and start using it before you play your next session. Re:Is this an awful call by me? Meh. he's shoving any ace and any broadway but i doubt much more even though hes shoved 50% over a small sample. can't hope for much more than 40% equity vs his range and something like 35% vs both their ranges. I muck Posted in: Poker Discussion |
