Re:Goals for 2010!?!? gdunn, It is good to have goals. However, every goal you picked seems to be something that is out of your control. Winning a SNG or final tabling an event is going to depend a lot on luck. Of course, if you're good enough, you won't need to get as lucky as some donk who keeps getting his money in bad and sucking out. Still, over a 6 month period of time, almost anything can happen to an MTT player. Also, as another poster mentioned, you haven't described how you intend to reach these goals or what you're going to do differently to make it happen. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How to lose a seat in 3 mins I rarely ever talk strategy in a bad beat thread but I think in this case it is warranted. As you mentioned, you already have the seat locked up and would win it 95% of the time if you just fold. There is no hand your opponent can have that makes it worth it for you to call with KK. If you kept your stack intact, on the first hand, you could've either folded the first AA hand or just moved all-in preflop. Even with the AA, you're really not looking to get called by anyone that has a stack that can hurt you. At this point, there really is nothing you can do that will improve your ... Re:Deep in the 50/50 with 77 Just to be clear, villain is in the hijack not the cutoff. dtools is in the cutoff. To me, that makes a big difference because it is a lot less likely that villain is on a steal (because dtools has no read). If you take out the stealing hands from villain's range, he's going to call you a lot more often when you shove on him. You really don't know if he is stealing or not. You also don't know what villain's calling range is if he's not on a steal. The range of TT+, AQ+ is just a guess and you're giving him a pretty tight range at that. If you shove, you're ... Re:Deep in the 50/50 with 77 You have about 20 BBs so I think you have a lot of options here. I think folding or shoving is best. With no reads I'm leaning a little towards folding. I think your stack is a little too deep to shove because you don't pick up enough chips when he folds to compensate for the times you run into a higher pair or lose the flip. I'd try to stay out of coinflips with your stack size. If you had a stack of 15 BBs, I think shoving is clearly best and I think villain will fold just as often as in this spot. You have position on your opponent so you could consider calling and trying to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Part-Time Staking Question I can understand wanting to be backed for only the higher stake games but I can see how this would be a problem for the backer. Maybe you want to play some satellites that are within your bankroll. Or, if you don't like satellites, I guess just let yourself buyin to the $55 MTT if you are doing well in your regular games and have made a good enough recent profit that you can afford the $55. Re:The dreaded scenario w/ AA on FT bubble..wwyd? I don't see what difference it makes that it is the final table bubble. It shouldn't affect proper strategy for this hand. Unless there are some special circumstances, your goal is to win the tourney or at least make the top 3. I think you need to adjust your mindset and just try to play your normal style. Re:20+2- My plan with AA backfired- can I play the turn? I think your preflop makes sense but this board just killed you. On the turn, you're going to have to decide whether he has the flush and I think it is in your best interest to decide before you make a bet or check the turn. I'm really having trouble coming up with any hand villain could have where he doesn't have a flush. I think you are forced to check/fold. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Freeroll Bankroll If you're serious about this, the thing for you to do is to join some leagues. The fields are much smaller and the prize pools are usually either the same or bigger. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links to these sites but feel free to PM me. If you cash in a few league freerolls and can beat low stakes cash games, you should be able to build a bankroll. It will still take you a few tries since you will mostly only win $5 at a time so you'll probably bust a few times. But you should be able to build up after a few tries. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Satelite calling range question, near bubble I'd call with JJ+, AQ+ It looks like you will probably have to double up so those seem to be good spots to call all-in. However, you might be able to find a situation with a better starting hand or a situation where it is folded to you in late position (not so likely based on your comments later in the thread but you never know. Maybe someone will call him down and he'll have to tighten up). Therefore, I'm not too eager to call even with a hand that's clearly ahead of his range. You still want to try to get it in at least a 70% favorite if you're going to call all-in so ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Crazy last hand of DON Stupid move for anyone to be betting or calling postflop. The player with J4 played the worst out of everyone. If I had KK, I either check the flop or lead the flop and fold to the min raise. Definitely not going to get all in here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:~200k gtd final table on stars, can some tell me there thoughts on this hand This is an all-in or fold spot. If you're worried about getting all-in vs the other big stack, you should fold. If you knew for certain that you'd win if you hit an ace, all-in is fine. Otherwise, you should probably fold. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:My Pokerstars account is hacked all money is GONE!!!! I'm really sorry you lost your roll and I'm sure you learned some valuable lessons from this. I agree with everyone else that it appears that someone just used your computer and started playing on your account. Just so everyone knows, ANYONE can get hacked. This happened to me on Bodog and Stars and I probably had about 1K combined. It took a very long time to convince Bodog security that it wasn't me playing on my account and dumping to someone in the cash games. These hackers actually go into my Neteller account and made unauthorized deposits onto Wingows poker as well as Bodog ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Line check: WWYD? I think you have to call this down on the turn and river. As mentioned already, you are only behind against AK, AQ, A4, QQ and 44. The Q on the turn is really irrelevant unless villain started with QQ b/c you were behind against AQ on the flop anyway. I think there are enough hands where villain has trips with a lower kicker that you can't fold here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
