Petition to Make the Sunday Million a Skill Game Again
As I'm typing this, I'm watching 70 people play for $1.65 million w/ an average stack of 17bb. Now I'm sure this has already been discussed in great detail, but nothing seems to be being done about it. So I'm opening up this petition to make the Sunday Million a skill game again. As we all know, the structure at the end of the Sunday Million is ludicrous. The average stack before we even get to the money is usually

Stupidest Bet in Poker?
FTR, the move doesn't really bother me that much since it's not my chips, but the player's chips. I was just hoping someone could give me an idea on the logic behind it - coz I think most people just blindly do it coz they see their hero doing it. So the guy who said it doesn't put "All In" next to your name wins! That's the key takeaway I got from this thread, anyways. Didn't expect this topic would generate this much traction...

Well, that I would get. But you'd be the exception, coz 99.9% of the people I see doing it never say a word.

Stupidest Bet in Poker?
Haha, I'm pretty light actually, thanks. I'm just trying to figure out if it's coz they see their hero doing it so it must be a sick play. Or if there's actually any thought behind it.

Stupidest Bet in Poker?
The alllllmost all in bet. Guy has 10,000 chips and bets 9,885 preflop. Yes, we get it. You're committed to the pot. And it's hilarious. But why risk a disconnect or a misclick' Am I missing something here'

What's the worst run you've ever had?
I'm currently on a 600+ MTT run w/o a single final table. I usually hit a FT about once every ~60 tourneys. My expected win rate is still around 10bb/100, but seem to lose every flip, get coolered or just plain go card dead near the end of every tourney lately. /end rant

Honestly, I don't value making the 2nd hour that much at all. But I do value having 2 bullets over one. I agree that there should either be a poll or agree to disagree. lol But I think it's pretty obvious which side would win.

I think there are lots of arguments for taking the rebuy off the bat actually. I don't think people give enough credit to the fact that remaining in the tournament is a major advantage to not. Like people that always defend their calls w/ pot odds when the truth is, if they decided to wait for a more EV spot, they'll fair much better in the long run. I'm not exactly of the Phil Helmuth wait for the nuts mindset, that's just embarassing, but I think there's a happy medium. Believe me, I don't have much trouble accumulating chips early starting w/ a 150bb stack, and I would much prefer to still ...

This. And I also like sometimes using the first buyin to establish a table image that's slightly polarized from my true game. Best response yet.

This is actually the first unique point that I can kinda get behind. I'm not trying to change anyone's thoughts but was seeing if someone can actually change mine to join the masses. Hasn't happened yet. I still think it's more advantageous to having 2 lives in a tourney rather than 1, over having a larger early stack.

I understand what you're saying, but I actually find it much easier to double through a big stack when I have 1/2 stack and he's only risking 1/2 his stack than when we BOTH have a full stack and our tourney lives at risk. At Stars the 1/2 stack is 3000 and the level only hits 50/100 before the add-on, so 30bb is still reasonable play imo. Believe me, I'm ALL about having a big stack, that's when my game shines, but for me it just doesn't seem like the big stack advantages outweigh the risk of elimination.

To me, it seems there's more value to stay alive than there is to get a large stack early. Since most players these days DO take the add-on early, your advantage of having that big stack is watered down.

The Red Line
Interesting. That's almost polar opposite of mine, with my showdown winnings looking like your non-showdowning winnings and vice versa. If you don't mind my asking, what stake are you playing there'

The Red Line
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. As most of you know, the red line is the non-showdown winnings line. I keep hearing about how the best players keep that line in the positive, yet I think most of us are in the negative. I've made efforts to get it in the positive, but it seems every time I do, my expected win rate always decreases. Isn't the most important line the expected win rate regardless of any other factors' If your expected win rate is 10bb per 100 and improving the red line brings it down to 5bb per 100, what's the point of having it in the positive at all' I'm ...
