Bodog Software up date..
Calvin has made a smart decision and run for the exit before he ends up on another DOJ hit list. Renting out the BODOG players to another independent company until the smoke clears for U.S. online poker is a good financial move. I say "rent" because that is the smart thing to do given how valuable the U.S. player base is. A good guess would be a renewable lease with a buyback option. Just a guess, of course, but a good one IMHO. That said the consensus seems to be that the new site is crazy bad, laggy with spotty traffic, sort of like partypoker in the early days. Give them a chance and ...

2012 is it your year
Wow ... I have more modest goals especially considering 2011 which I consider as really special (for the average poker serf ... lol). Since in 2011 I qualified for two WPT tournaments and cashed in one, 2012 is a step up: 1) Qualify online and play in three WPT events. 2) Cash in at least one of the WPT events. 3) Improve my PLO game which considering my stats ... ANY improvement is a step up :) 4) Qualify for the WSOP and play in it. 5) Keep meeting great people which seems to be a hallmark of the P5 community. Happy New year, seasons greetings et Merry Christmas to all that read this :)

Poker Refugees - Relocate and Play Online Poker
Cheap living conditions is only part of the equation. I live in Vancouver, a modern city within easy access to Las Vegas and more importantly has world class internet service. Between KLM/Air France (to Amsterdam) and British Airways (to London) the European poker scene is a quick hop. The other part of the equation is lifestyle, food, and civilization. Whistler mountain is there for learning to ski if you do not and skiing like a god if you do (I am heading out Monday for four days of skiing & it is paradise while in the evening play poker online because internet service is quite good). ...

Coolness ... is it any wonder that by reading amazing commentary like this I improve enough to qualify to multiple WPTs' Many thanks, makes total sense and look forward to more analysis of this caliber.

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
Getting close to Christmas and I have four days of skiing like a madman at Whistler planned. Thanks TrueMetalMan (great name BTW ...) for the post. I give credit where credit is due ... PocketFives regularly has posts that wake up important questions as well as giving answers in poker. Questioning parts of your poker game is important to improve as a player. I tried to ply Poker770 with alcohol but since he was in the press box there was a no drinks policy in place. That said next time I see Christian I'll drag him to dinner for sure. 2011 = qualifying for two World Poker Tour seats. To ...

Bodog Software up date..
BODOG has anonymous tables: You know no one, can make no notes without a pad & paper, but BODOG is trying convince you that this is "purer" poker, that poker players will appreciate this much more. I am in the food business and there is a similar parallel called "Blind Dining" where the waiters are blind, the room is pitch dark, and you are supposed to appreciate the food more. Well, in "Blind Dining" the reality is that you are stained from dropping food and slapped for "accidentally" groping the wrong date. Very few Blind dining restaurants exist because it was fun concept but totally ...

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
Chris Moorman is at a table near the front of the room, five hours into the WPT Prague when the button raised his bet. Although a limper also called and the odds were great, Moorman folds and throws his cards into the muck. One of the cards catches the felt and cartwheels face-up ... it was a deuce. The south end of the table bursts out laughing and Chris just smiles. Looks like he is having a lot of fun and with a higher than average stack in front of him, it is a good situation.

Thanks tarzan4, thanks for following the thread and of course, a big thanks to Christian for the time and effort. I'll make sure he is properly plied with alcohol on break so any spelling mistakes are my fault :)

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
Thank you. I have to say that it is easy to be a nice guy when this year I qualify for not one, but two (!!) WPT events so I am really in a permanent good mood. Most of the "poker stars" love the game, sure, but for all of us "poker serfs" that play to improve continually, breaking through to play in the WPT is the nuts. Playing at the same table (warning: shameless name-dropping ahead ha ha) as Antonio Esfandiari, Allen Cunningham (WPT Cyprus 2009), Guillaume Darcourt, Per Linde WPT Paris 2011), & Daniel Carter, Dimitri Growmow (WPT Prague 2011) forces your game up in a very real way. You ...

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
Yes, I did. Lots of people here from the WPT Paris. I had enough work at my table to do too much rubber-necking the pokers stars, but really enjoying playing a higher level of poker. I appreciate that but you know, I got in for $44 on partypoker so I can't get too weepy and I have to say I enjoyed the level of poker A LOT. I played a few hands (hmmm, maybe a lot of hands ...) like a bag full of hammers but I can learn from them. Kudos for Christian for not only the rail but for being a super-friendly guy posting information. I should add that the SB big stack had a range all the way down ...

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
The whole idea is to improve on my 25th place at the WPT Paris ...thanks for the encouragement :) Love the idea of spending some time in Prague too, a city i know little about. That said ... the tourist thing is all very nice but I am there to play some serious poker players. After wading knee-deep in the sub-sub-qualifiers in partypoker, winning to re-wade knee deep in the sub-qualifier ... the WPT Prague qualifier was a serious event w some good players I think ... it is all worth it. Qualifying in is the only way to go IMHO.

Sounds great! I am also trying to qualify online for the EPT in Prague (since I will be there anyways ...) ... I look forward to seeing you in Prague ! I was surprised to see you bubble out because you were one of the players I was keeping a really close eye on. Qualifying & playing in these multi-hundred dollar entry-fee tournaments that attract (by definition ...) great poker players is a real treat for poker serfs like me. Thanks for the luck ... if the field is anything like the WPT in Paris last month ... I will need it.

flintsword qualifies for the WPT Prague Dec 2011
Sorry again for seems perilously like a brag post but for an amateur, qualifying for the World Poker Tour is a big deal. (I'll be brief ...) Yesterday I qualified for another WPT seat, this time in Prague this December. I won a partypoker sub-qualifier $40 tourney with 50 players to bag a $400 ticket to the actual Sunday WPT Prague qualifier. In the $400 WPT Prague Qualifier I managed to finish 1st (99 players) winning one of four $7,500 seats to the WPT Prague this December. ------------------------------------------------ My last WPT event was the WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011 where I ...

flintsword comes 25th in WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011 for 16,600 Euros ($23,400)
Thanks for the post Jimmy, I appreciate it. I am a bit weird about my insistence on qualifying into tournaments via satellites (my friends constantly on my case about that ...) but it does maximize gains when you cash in a big way. I know that for the serious poker pros on this site a World Poker Tour 25th place and even $23,400 is hardly worth a second look, but for amateurs (like me) that take poker seriously it is a serious achievement. I had such an amazing time at the WPT Cyprus event 2009 (I also qualified for that one ...) that it is well worth the time to try and satellite in for ...

flintsword comes 25th in WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011 for 16,600 Euros ($23,400)
What is funny is that in 2005 I qualified on Full Tilt for this very same tournament but the government of France back then went on the warpath against online qualifiers ... so Full Tilt just paid me the $16,000 seat. It was a great experience with a few hands that tossed a few top players to the rail for field goals ... all very satisfying. The $15,000 partypoker seat I won in the qualifier was: hotel paid for six days, $2,000 expense money, and the 7,500 Euro entry fee paid. The hotel was the RADISSON BLU Paris-Boulogne and it was excellent. Food super & reasonable, free internet, & a ...

flintsword comes 25th in WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011 for 16,600 Euros ($23,400)
Sorry for the brag post so I will keep it brief. It is my best result ever. I won a partypoker sub-sub-qualifier $1.60 ReBuy winning an $88 ticket. I won the $88 sub-qualifier to earn an $800 WPT Paris Qualifier ticket. I managed to get 2nd place winning one of two $15,000 WPT Paris seats to the WPT Paris Grand Prix 2011. ------------------------------------------------ My last WPT event was the WPT Cyprus Merit 2009 and it was hell with Antonio Esfandiari on my right ALL Day1a. Day 2 was no better with Allen Cunningham, Rep Porter, and (yes) Antonio Esfandiari again at the ...

What was the coolest thing you did this summer??
This summer I decided to throw two vacation into the mix and create an adventure. Little did I know that this would become a summer to remember. I returned from a seven-day Mediterranean cruise poker-starved mid-August & decided to try to qualify for a WPT Event on PartyPoker. The only one that fit my schedule was the WPT Paris Grand Prix in early September since I was planning on two weeks in Martinique right before Labour Day weekend. I played in the $1.60 ReBuy sub-sub-qualifiers and won an $88 entry. I won the $88 sub-qualifier earning an $800 ticket to the PartyPoker WPT Paris ...
