Re(2): Poker Lessons for Charity
Maybe, but what it boils down to is that I will not be keeping any of the money I make for coaching. It will be going to what I believe to be a good cause. foshio

Re(1): Poker Lessons for Charity
For those who are not familiar with club sports, at many schools there is a distinction between varsity sports, like soccer, swimming, basketball, which are highly funded for things like hotels, buses to tournaments, and uniforms. Club Sports such as ultimate frisbee (which I play), rugby, or lacrosse are funded somewhat by the schools but the majority of funding comes from the players themselves. Often people are very committed to these teams, practicing 3-4 times a week and going to tournaments on the weekends. At an academic oriented school like Emory, with no football team, there are many ...

Poker Lessons for Charity
Hey everybody, My name is foshio, I used to be a ranked player on here back when I played a lot, but I only play every once in a while these days. I am currently a student at Emory university in Atlanta, and I am coming here to try to raise money for club sports. Funding is always tight, and I thought I would do what I can to help out. I am going to be offering lessons for $100/hour, none of which I will keep. I've been a very successful multitable player, but I also play a lot of 10/20 NL cash, HU cash up to 5/10, and consider myself a very good sng player. I have about a 14% roi with an ...

shove or fold?
i just doubled up to around 29k with the blinds at 300-600 75 ante. I am dealt ak in middle position and open the pot for 1800. Folded to Tex Barch in the small blind who makes a raise to 7800. Barch has somewhere in the range of 50k. I have been relatively tight, and Barch has been very aggressive. He tends to make large bets when he plays hands, but has not been reraising preflop a great deal. What is your play'

Re(2): kk postflop?
I like the fold in this situation. I don't you can be sure enough in the spot to jepordize 9k in chips when you have only invested 400. If you don't have the two people behind you it is closer to a shove, but with this many people seeing the flop it seems likely he is strong.

Re(1): WAchovia FT Stars 100 Rebuy
I have critisized Wachovia in the past, but I think he has been changing his game lately. I think he has defiently become harder to play againt and has become a bit more creative. He definetly misplayed a few of the posted hands, but lay off the guy a bit.

Re(1): Richard Lee's JJ play
When you play loose and bluff as much as Gold has, a hand like qq because harder and harder to fold because the other player is more likely to think Gold is putting a move on them. I don't know about instantly calling it, but it seems that when Gold keeps showing bluffs and big moves, that qq is a very tough laydown.

Re(3): I love Fox...but...
There are several types of situations where I would welcome a 40-60 or a flip. Here is one example: last night in the dise 100k as we were approaching the bubble I had about 5k in chips with 800-1600 blinds. There were 3 stacks directly to my right who had over 40k and were raising a ton. I was in the small blind and the cuttoff who had 50k raised to 4k(he had been very aggressive). With k10 in the big blind, I thought there was a chance I had the best hand, but even if I didn't I might not get another chance to push in the next round because of the big stacks on my right. So I pushed in and ...

Re(1): I love Fox...but...
I completly agree with Fox's article. It has taken me a long time to learn when the correct times to gamble in a tournament are(and I am still learning), but there are certainly cituations in tournament poker in which gambling with a flip or a 40-60 are extremely advantageous because of the edge that having the extra chips will give you. This isn't to say you should try to be behind when you shove your chips into the middle, but there are certainly situations that you need chips and have to gamble to get them.

Hard to win a tourney without running good. You were definetly a thorn in my side the entire time. And I did take a beat to bust out of the $100 rebuy today, but I really can't complain about anything lately. Good luck.
