Picture A Day
This is the view from my office window today. I think this is the first blue sky day we have had since September. Mt. Rainier in the distance. It is much more spectular in real life (this was taken with my crappy phone through a dirty window).

Can I sue?
Can he sue' Yes. Anyone who has enough money to pay the filing fee can file a lawsuit. Would you win at trial' This would never make it to trial. This case would be dismissed on summary judgment. There is no reasonable basis to hold the venue responsible. The OP even states "no one was at fault . . . it was a freak accident". A case will only make it past summary judgment if there are facts that give rise to a cause of action that will allow the plaintiff to recover if those facts are proved in court. Here are there no set of facts, that even if proved, would allow the OP to recover his ...

What percentage of your monthly gross income do you pay for your mortgage?
My income fluctuates a lot but in 2011 I paid 42% of my gross income to my mortgage. I also paid 15% to student loans and about 8% to healthy insurance. That is 65% before I even think about all our other bills! I have two kids and a shit ton of expenses that goes along with that. It has been rough the last 16+ months.

Is there anything better....
I have been to several air shows and I love the jets. We saw the Thunderbirds a few years ago. They were amazing because they seemed so close to us. It felt like they were only a couple hundred yards over our heads. The coolest fly overs I have witnessed, however, have happened when I have been backpacking in the mountains. It has only happened a few times and last summer was one of those times. We were camping next to a lake at about 5,500 feet. There was not a soul in sight. The only sound was the wind blowing and the insects buzzing our heads. Then, without warning a jet flies over the ...

How did you meet your wife?
We met in the 4th grade. She was my first girlfriend. In the 4th grade I sent her a note asking her to be my girlfriend. I gave three choices. Yes, no, or maybe. She checked the yes box. We "dated" for a few weeks which means we rarely talked to each other because we were too shy. We "dated" again in the 6th grade and this time we actually spoke to each other. That lasted about two months. Our junior year in HS we began dating for real. We have been together ever since. We married right after college. We have been married for 15 years but I tell people we have been together "off and on" for ...

Meatless Mondays
I have not had an bite of meat in 17 years. I don't miss it at all. It never even crosses my mind to eat meat. There are plenty of options out there that are delicious, nutritious and meatless. My wife is very much into eating healthy. She has been writing a blog on healthy eating for a year now. She has posted a ton of recipes. In just one year she has posted over 200 times. It really is her passion and she puts a ton of time into it. Her posts are actually pretty entertaining to read too. The blog is called Healthy In Candy Land (her name is Candy) (). Here is one of her more clever posts ...

Post pics of your hometown
Of course every city of decent size is going to have poorer areas. Hilltop is actually not that bad anymore. It was bad about 20 years but now it has seen a bit of revitalization. When was the last time you drove through the Hilltop' South Tacoma is a huge area that includes mostly middle class homes but some areas are well off and some areas are not so well off. There aren't any slums or ghettos like you see in really large cities like LA or even Seattle. Aren't you from Aberdeen' How can you rip on Tacoma when you are from Aberdeen' Aberdeen: Average income: $33,000 Average home value: ...

Post pics of your hometown
SaulGood, you are always ripping Tacoma but it is obvious you don’t know what you are talking about. The “Tacoma aroma” was stinky if you were near the tide flats or driving through on I-5 near Fife. That was years ago and only affected a small industrial section of the city. Unfortunately I-5 passed right through that area so many non-residents thought all of Tacoma smelled like that. The problem was erased in about 1990 when the paper mill changed the way it processed paper and cut its emissions by 90%. There is no more smell. I drive highway 509 which travels right ...

Documentaries worth watching?
Some of these have been mentioned but they are worth repeating. The Cove Earthlings Food Inc (not mentioned yet) Home Food Inc has not been listed here but it is very eye opening. I was thinking about that movie for many months after I watched it.

Hot coffee: hbo doc
Every American should read this: Trial by Jury: "Inherent and Invaluable" Publication Date: May 2011 Volume: 46-9 Author: Beth A. White Categories: Access to Justice, Juries, Legal Publications, Retrospective In the United States, there are two places where every American is supposed to be equal—at the ballot box and in the courtroom. That equality is a powerful right that should be championed by every one of us regardless of political affiliation because it is the very definition of a free people. Indeed, John Adams wrote, “Representative government and trial by jury are the heart and ...

Hot coffee: hbo doc
I have posted here before on this issue so some people may remember that I am attorney and most of my practice is representing injured people. I have not seen this film yet but I am glad to see that it is getting some good reviews. I have spent the past 15 years trying to educate people about the "hot coffee" in particular and the tort system in general. I think this film will teach people what I have known for a long time--insurance companies and big corporations have successfully tainted the jury pool in this country. Everytime I go to trial I face an uphill battle. I have to first find ...

Autographed 1986(I think) Yankees Ball
My cousin's great grandfather was an umpire in the 1920s-1930s. He had a ball signed by several of the 1927 Yankees. The ball is still in their family. I don't think they have ever had it appraised but I am sure it is worth a pretty penny. A ball signed by the 1986 Yankees, however, would be next to worthless even if legit.

Your thoughts on organic foods
Some foods don't contain that much pesticides and others contain a lot if not grown organically. Here is a blog post that talks about the "dirty dozen". This blog also has a lot of good recipes and meal ideas for people who want to eat real food instead of processed crap that you pop in the microwave.

$350 Venetian potential squeeze spot
I probably make it $12K to go but fold if the raiser re-pops. I don't want to play a big pot out of position with 66 so hopefully $12K would be enough to get these guys to fold. If either one calls I would tread lightly. Calling pre wouldn't be horrible. For $2,000 more and a stack of $45,000 you can still set mine with 66.
