Family/friends against my decision to not do a 9-to-5: How do I make them understand?
Just read your posts and I liked them very much. I was chillin at a friends place the other day and his roommate (who i dont know) walked in and chilled with us as well. He asks '' so your a pro poker player'' then very next question is '' so you deceive people all day' '' and then after that '' so do you deceive people in your everyday life as well ' '' . Im over trying to convince people that what I do isnt dirty. If they have pre-conceived negative impressions about poker / poker players its gonna take more then a 5minute talk to fix that. If your family sees value in you based on how much you contribute to society, then playing poker is going to look pretty useless in their eyes, regardless if you are successful at it or not. only 2 people in my life supported my decision to try to play poker for a living, everyone else thought I was going to end up broke. Road Sodas
only road sodas ive ever drank was in japan, sitting in the passenger seat where its legal to drink beer in a car, as long as you arent driving. It was weird for 2 reasons: 1- it feels wrong to drink beer while in a moving car 2- it feels weird doing that and sitting in the north american driver side of the car since in japan they drive on the other side however going for a 5 hour drive in the mountains of Japan while drinking some beers was really really really awesome

many years ago I was dating this girl for a tiny bit, but broke it off. she really wanted to know why and so i thought i would do her a favor and tell her the truth, in case she wants to keep guys like me in the future '' youre not skinny enough '' is what I said. She got mad, told me never to speak to her again and I havent heard from her since. your story made me think of that, so in your shoes i think i would tell them although thye probably wont like hearing about it

Biggest mistake I did in all of 2011 was not going to this thing. I was in vegas grinding my ass off for the summer and was downswinging pretty hard the week before EDC. I learned it was sold out, but on the saturday morning (4-5am) when i was going back to the condo after a long grind I met some partygoers exiting a cab. I talked to them and one of the guys in that crew had to leave sunday morning so he offered to sell me 1/3rd of his weekend pass. so I posted that last pic at 11:59pm and now its 12:04 the next day.. :) View from the top of the train/bus station in Calgary. You think I was the only on the train with thousands in his pockets' lol you can also notice how most people in Calgary are driving pickups / something bigger then a car. Its nuts but I guess justifiable since they do work in oil fields etc. What is really fun tho is the guys that want to have the biggest truck on the road.. out in Ottawa or Montreal, if you have a normal truck odds are you are the biggest car around when you are driving. awesome pic SCD. So I went to Calgary to play some cash games... the city is filled with oil money. Guys work 2weeks in the oil fields and have 2weeks off and clear 10K a month. I had heard a rumor that Calgary is the best place to play live cash in North America... and i would have to say, I 100% agree. The 2-5 game ran almost every day (6 casinos in the city spreads out the plyaers and sometime weekdays you cant find 2-5nlhe in the city but the 1-2$ plays pretty deep since max is either 300 or 500) Of all the session of 2-5 I played I met only 1 guy that I tried to avoid but other then ...

Just finished travelling across canada and playing poker in most casinos along the way. NONE of them offered free drinks except the Calgary Stampede casino which had 2 rounds of free drinks on the house per day . Some casinos you need to leave your drink at the bar and run to it between hands, this includes Montreal Casino and all others in Quebec (its a law). When its not a law, the only reason casinos would give free drinks is because of nearby competition and since most towns only have 1 casino they dont need to attract players to their place.
