Playing Live
Hi, i need advice from players who travels to play live. I'm canadian and i want to start playing live tournaments in the US and in Europe. I hate to travel with money and they usually have a 10k limit in airports. From what i understand, the best way to proceed is wire money. I never used that method. Do i need to open bank accounts in different countries' Can i open account at casinos' What are the fees for those transfers' You guys can PM me or answer here if you feel like helping Thanks in advance Francis

Re:HU SNG advice needed
Building a good roll fast without huge swings is impossible. I play HU SNG and heres what i can say to help you. You are shooting at a 55% to 60% win rate. You won't play 40-50 a day playing 1 at the time. I suggest two at the time after a few weeks, it will increase your hourly profits. You can play more after more experience. You will need to take little breaks after couple of losses, cause HU SNG are prolly the best way to get tilted. Use good BR management like you seem to be willing to do. Pay attention to rakeback offers, it will be a substantial part of your earnings. Good ...

Re:Canadian players: Cash out strategies based on our dollar?
Ok, if you can predict the market, quit poker and become a billonaire doing some day trading. You can read about it all you want, but you will never see something like, THE DOLLAR WILL GO DOWN 10 CENTS IN THE NEXT WEEK. IF you follow it up closely, you might be able to make good decisions on small variation of the dollar, and that's a big MAYBE. Even if you win the sunday million, trying to catch up the good day to cash out might be a waste of time. Every time you see a price, it's what the market thinks it's worth right now. Every time a specialist says it will go up or down, ...

Re:How to stick to a plan?
I might be wrong, but you might have a gambling problem. And i,m not saying you have a big one, but if you can't help yourself from doing something you know it's stupid it seems bad to me. If done wisely, you are not gambling while playing poker you are investing. If you are profitable at lower stakes, your BR will build up and you,ll be able to make money that will make a difference in your daily life withing weeks, months or years. Trying to shortcut the system will only make you a loosing player and the bitch of everybody else on this forum. There is so much more fun you can ...

Re:8-10% rake on MTT's still blows my mind
I agree with most comments On the other side, the reward system get more and more juicy for what i've seen. Every site gives some extra $ here and there and they keep adding some extra promotions every year. i know i know, they still make enormous profits and yeah they are making over 100k for the sunday million alone every week but the extra competition forces all site to be more generous in rake back system and promotions. I like the US ban comment. The day that thing will be lifted, i expect a big big improvement in everybody's daily profits. It should add a LOT of new players ...

Re:Is it possible to run bad forever?
Yeah it is possible, but no it is not happening to you or to anybody else. It is possible to win lottery 20 times in a row. It is possible for a Statue to wave it's hands if the electrons in it's atoms are all moving in the correct order. You could get 50 000 decimal of Pi in the right order by guessing and look like a genius. Casinos could loose money against every single player You can look at the highway for one day and only see red cars My point being, even if somethign is possible, the probability of it can be so low than IT will not happen. The more volume you put, the ...

Re:What does it say about tournment poker when
My guest would be that the deal looked like that since we are talking about one of the best player. You pay my buy-in, you get x% of the winnings, i loose, i don't owe you anything. No make-up nothing. What it does is it lowers the expectation of AJK, but it kills his risk too. It is impossible he looses money on that tournament. IF you open some finance books, you'll see that lowering variance has it price. It is the reason why no many investors has a share of their money in T-Bills or other very very low variance titles. They reduce their global expectation but they also reduces ...

Re:What is the LOWEST salary you would accept to be a professional poker player?
Wow to people who says 200k. That means that if you make 175k a year doing something you love, you would switch to a corporate job, making probably a lot less at the beginning, having a schedule and a boss to answer too. Also, remember that those high salary jobs are as stressful as poker, gonna require a lot of your time too. I'm 24, 2 years ago i was making 10k a year being a studend and working in some crap jobs. I currently don't need more than 30k a year to spend. I figure will all the freedom poker gives, i don,t really need more than 70k a year for the rest of my life. And ...

Ok, like everybody else, i have a huge ton of respect towards generous people. I was looking at the PokerStars list of people who gave money for the EarthQuake in China and i was amazed to see how much they raised and how quickly they did it. That earthquake costed the lives of thousands and changed the lives of many more. I was seeing 20 years player who gave 20, 50 100 or more without thinking twice about it. I was thinking, it's a great idea. Some of us, poker players, are rich and or making a great income. Others are making a very nice sideline. Tournaments poker players make a ...

Re:amazing idea for FTP and Pokerstars that will never happen.
I like the idea They would need to work on a couple of small problems but nothing too serious. I'm not sure 90% of the players plays more than 1 tournament at the time cause i suppose since a few of the internet players are profitable, most of the sites customers are casual players. That might be why that simple procedure is not allready in place. I would believe that if 1 site applies this rule, it would make some pressure on the other sites to follow because players would not be tempted to loose their break and would be less inclined to join tournaments on several sites.

Re:to any +ev online player
I,ve got a degree in finance and i was suppose to start for 35-40k a year and go as high as my skills would permit too. Thing is, in most jobs, you start being a little bitch that does stuff that doesnt use any of your braincells so you can get known and see how it works. In normal circunstance, i would have started trading at 30 years old or so. With poker, i made 250k last year, and this one looks promising as well. At 30, i will trade, but my own money and perhaps starts some buisiness. We are young, making as much money that we can NOW sounds like a good idea to me. I know i'm ...

It's brand new, they only have electronic tables so far cause they have problems with the dealer,s union (sorry, our ancestor were french so people likes to go on strikes here). For what i,ve heard, the smallest table is nl1-2 and it goes to at least nl10-20. I'm pretty they,ve got bigger than that but i can,t tell. Since it was expected for so long, i heard their is a sick line up for the tables but things should get fixed. I'll go there in the next days, i'll answer questions if you guys are still interested in the subject

Re(1): Not much cash game experience.....this still a snap call?**Results now posted**
For what i experienced, in the nl25$ to nl200$ range, the all-in super over shove on the river means the nuts 99% of the time. I mean, if you've got the king high flush, it is a fold if the board is A-A-10-9-2 and you,ve got A-2, it is a fold. But on that board, the only thing that can hurt you is 7-7. And quite frankly, i think you might see a 10-7 type hand, 10-10 or maybe even 9-8 often enough to make it a profitable on the long run. I'm calling there always, but i'm not too surprised if the guy flips over quads.

Re(7): I gotta let the cat out of the bag...
Eddi Since you want him to give his money back since he wasnt supposed to be there in the first place, the same logic would apply to the underage teenager who lost their money. I know i am not refunding those guys. I'm pretty sure, like every group of age, the teenagers are loosing more money than some are winning on the long run cause they don't have an unfair advantage. You claim they have an impact on the game and they shouldnt be there, and that is absolutly true. The sum of the impacts is that there is more money in the prize pool and more money to the winners. The site and casino ...

Re(1): How many buy-ins for HU cash?
I am starting to play this seriously. I would say 40 at the very minimum at 50NL and go up to 100 times while you are moving up the ranks. The higher you get, the more agressive your opponents are so the bigger the variance is. I think 100 is the optimal target. I am not saying you might get busted if you play with less than 100 buy-ins, but beats and bad session will have a less impact on your mood. For what i experience, i can have 5 positive days a week, but the 2 days i loose, the losses are usually bigger than any of my winnings at any giving day. You get frustrated, you tend to narrow ...

Re(1): How strong do i have to be?
this guy has, a flush, pocket 6s, pocket 10s or k-10. I am pretty confidend you won't see nothing else. His line fist perfectly with a guy having a boat, he flopped trip or 2 pairs. He lead since he didnt wanted the flush to get there. He gets his boat on the turn, so he value bets. And he shoves hoping he would get called by a flush or a weaker hand. If he has a flush, lots of players would check beeing the first to act but some others would bet like he does. Still it lower the weight of the flush in his range. if he has a baby flush, i really doubt he would shove like this. So basicly, ...

Re(1): Playing on a combined bankroll ?
Well, i don't really like it. You have the trust issues. it needs some coordination Plus, i have my bankrolled split on three sites. So my BR is the sum of all the money on those sites. I found that when things good bad on one of the sites i am allready a bit low, it affects me a bit more. So i am giving an edge there by playing a bit with scared money. If i was teaming, specially in cash game, i might feel some pressure to perform well. Also, if ou want to go from 1-2 to 2-4, my logic is usually. IF i can do enough money to build my BR there, i shouldnt be going up. I don't see any ...
