What would you do with AK on bubble of live tourney?
Well, if it's the true bubble the tournament is going to be playing hand-for-hand. No benefit to tank-calling. Anyway, if I staked someone to play MTTs and later found out that they like to fold premium hands near the bubble in order to min-cash, that staking agreement would come to an end mighty quick.

Hardly. Gags is a far more accomplished player than I, AINEC. I'm just trying to initiate a little discussion about how important it is that your hand be suited if you're going to flat a raise OOP in a HU pot.

Agreed but once he leads the flop, he probably should lead the turn, and then fold to a raise. But if he leads turn and gets called, creates kind of a 'wtf' spot on a lot of rivers.

QJ is a possibility too, although less likely since we have two Jacks. I'm betting the turn, though. I have no reason to believe I'm beat yet and the board is still very drawy.

I think it's very close between folding and shoving, for exactly the reasons ferrengi stated. I think both options are >>>>>>>> calling; your stack is just too short for that. I lean towards a fold here because you have to risk busting for too small of a gain, imo.

Re:Fold kings pre-plop ??
The cash players who recommend folding KK in certain situations (assuming 100bb deep or less) are probably not 3-betting and 4-betting with enough frequency to where their opponents will give them all-in action with less than KK.

Alright, your first post was vaguely on topic because it at least included a hand where you got AA all-in against a few players. This latest one isn't even remotely on topic. At the risk of derailing this awesome thread even further, I have to ask: if Full Tilt is rigged, who is it rigged in favor of' Just anyone who plays you in a hand'

Re:folding aces pre
After messing around with Pokerstove a little bit, I found a way to give AA less equity than it is contributing to the pot, without cheating by giving someone else AA. The key is to just have the other two Aces accounted for, so we have no outs to re-suck. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 07.637% 07.54% 00.10% 644499 8803.22 { AcAd} Hand 1: 02.225% 00.92% 01.31% 78654 111644.22 { AsKh} Hand 2: 17.050% 17.05% 00.00% 1458413 18.22 { Th9h } Hand 3: 16.164% 16.17% 00.00% 1382690 18.22 { 8s7s } Hand 4: 11.212% 11.21% 00.00% 959099 18.22 { 5d4d } Hand 5: 13.082% 13.08% 00.00% 1119008 ...

Re:WSOP Champ Joe Cada lobbying for online poker rights!
He could counter that by pointing out that, in getting to the final table, he was never once all-in and called with his tournament on the line. That takes some tremendous skill. He could quote Tom McEvoy, in saying that winning a poker tournament is about putting yourself in good position to get lucky (I hope I'm not mis-attributing that quote). The field is something like 25% pros, and they can't all of them get to the final table. Yeah, he got incredibly lucky at the final table, but it took tremendous skill (and some luck) to get there in the first place.

Re:can i ever fold this river ???
AK is not typically a way-ahead/way-behind hand. You're only way behind AA and KK, but having one of each makes it more unlikely that he has either of those hands. You flip with all other pairs, and are ahead of everything else. I agree with the advice ITT; 3-bet the AK preflop, almost always. Your whole thought process on how to play AK seems screwy to me ("I check because I get no value from anything I beat", followed by a raise on the river'!'!). AK is a great hand, but you want to be getting money in fast with it when you hit top pair, not slow. When you wait until the river ...

Washington State Senator in favor of expanding Keno games
About a week old, but didn't see it posted over here yet. The following is brought to you by the "People in Glass Houses" department: Proposed legislation from Washington State Senator Margarita Prentice would allow lottery retailers that offer Keno games to increase their frequency from once a day to once every 4 minutes. This is an attempt to close the gap on the state's $2.5 billion deficit. Prentice is the very same person who pushed through legislation outlawing online gambing and making it a Class C felony to participate.

I also haven't played tournaments with any frequency in well over a year now. I've been more focused on cash games. Which I guess is why I gave a cash game example.

Re:Is it ok to set mine here? How should I play this??
I'd say if you both had around 15,000, set-mining would be okay. Maybe even if you had as little as 13,000. But that's really the bare minimum. But you still see TV pros doing it all the time with shorter stacks than that.

Re:Is it ok to set mine here? How should I play this??
The blinds have nothing to do with it. It's the size of the bets compared to the remaining money left to be bet, that's important. Imagine that you and I are in a $1/2 NL cash game, and we both have $200. You get dealt 66. You raise to $8, and I re-raise it to $26. (these bet sizes are to help illustrate the example, never mind that you wouldn't actually bet that big) You read me to be very strong here, and you just know you are going to get my stack if you hit. But it's still a losing call for you, even though we're 100 big blinds deep. You'd be getting around the ...

Re:Is it ok to set mine here? How should I play this??
Conventional wisdom says that you should invest no more than 1/15th of your stack with a pair if it is purely to set-mine. The odds of you flopping a set are 7.5:1, but you have to account for the times where you flop a set and don't stack him because he's not strong enough, or hit a set and lose anyway.

If you get raised on the turn, almost always fold an unimproved overpair. Even AA. (this does not apply if the pot was 3-bet preflop.)
