Re:supernova before dec 31 I would multi-table the Steps SNG's. For a small $7.50 investment, you can parlay that into a lot of points just by going through the Steps. I calculated one of my runs to a Step 6: Step 1 Won 3 FPP's earned Step 2 Won 10 FPP's earned Step 3 Repeat Step 3 35 FPP's earned Step 3 Repeat Step 3 35 FPP's earned Step 3 Won 35 FPP earned Step 4 Ticket to Step 3 75 FPP's earned Step 3 Won 35 FPP's earned Step 4 Won 75 FPP's earned Step 5 Ticket to Step 4 150 FPP's earned Step 4 Won 75 FPP's earned Step 5 Won 150 FPP's earned Step 6 Finished 8th ... AQ < QJ I've recently gotten knocked out of 6 tournaments while holding the AQ hand, every time with all the chips in pre-flop. It's gotten to the point where I feel like a huge underdog in this scenario. From a purely mathematical stand point, I definitely want this call. But, I can't help but laugh at the improbability of this. What your unlucky match-up where you're the dominating favorite' Posted in: Bad Beats |

Re:poker players are 90% jerks....... You definitely have to have thick skin when you play poker. Number one: You're surrounded by people who want to take your money. Number two: Learning to play the game solidly takes an enormous amount of tenacity. Number three: Casinos and gambling attract some real low-life figures. Not all gamblers are slightly, overweight dudes with a family and a mortgage. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Razz the new game to play? From what I understand, it's pretty hard to find a good game online because it is so straightforward. Most hands are pretty much played heads-up, so it takes a long time to get any real money. Also, I've never, ever seen it spread live as a cash game. Although, many of the casinos here in CA say they spread it. PLO is a good game if you like lots of action and lots of variance. Limit Omaha Hi Lo and Stud Hi Lo are you best bets as far as earning money as people chase and chase all the way to the river. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sometimes being on tilt is fun Cause you start playing hands that you definitely don't want to play. Start raising hands like 37 off and flop a full house. You don't care anymore and it seems like the poker gods help you out. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Do you go outta your way to put opponents on tilt? When I want to tilt an opponent, I will be over enthusiastic about winning a pot. I'll type a bunch of obnoxious things in the chat box like - YES! That's what I'm talking about. After about 3 hands where you type some asinine comment, you'll get people really wanting to play pots with you. So, you have to prepare yourself for some bad beats. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:General Satty Question: Would you...? The one thing to remember about the Steps is that if/when you win a Step 4 ticket, you can also use that to buy into any $215 tournament. So, if you can always abort mission and take a shot at the $215 tourneys. $500 = 66 Step 1 buy-ins. That's more than enough buy-in's for any competent SNG player to get at least 5 or 6 Step 4's. Not to mention, you'll be racking up a lot of FTP's to use to buy into some FTP tourneys. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Marongo, Palm Springs, and Redondo Beach next week The 2/5 isn't always available while there are usually about 2 or 3 1/3's. During a tournament, they start adding tables as players get knocked out. These tend to lead to very loose games, as the players are upset about the guy called an all-in with A3 to crack their K's and knock em out. The tournaments themselves are designed to end as quickly as possible, which means blinds go up at a hyper-fast rate. You'll be playing with blinds 200/400 and the next level will be 500/1000, then they double from there. Usually by the final table the chip leader will only have about 5 BB ... Re:Marongo, Palm Springs, and Redondo Beach next week Casino Morongo is a fun little place to play. Small intimate room of 22 tables, small by CA Poker room standards. Most of the players are either old dudes who use this place as their retirement home away from home or college kids from the local Universities and Community College gambling away their scholorship money or student loan checks. The games that get spread the most are 3-6 LHE and 100NL (1-3). The skill level of the players in these games are equivilent to what you'll find in $.25/$.50 Limit or $10NL game online. You can pretty much set mine and let the other players fire away ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Clearing the UB Bonus Yeah, that does suck. I'm planning to deposit $1000 to qualify for the maximum bonus of $1100 and do what you did. But, I may have to figure out another plan. I'm basically playing on UB to take advantage of the 10 cent Steps SNG's. Maybe that should be the plan if you can clear the bonus with the Steps SNG entry fees. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How to Play Micro...Help Needed Play a bunch of $2.20 Satellites (both 36 player SNG and MTT) to the $11 - 200K Guaranteed. If you cash in 1 out of every 4 (25%), which is very doable, you would turn a profit of about $55 after playing 100 of these. And, of course, you could always go ahead and play the 200K tournament with one of the satellites that you won. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Live Cash Game Bankroll As a general observation, the play at the live tables is very soft to the online play. In fact, playing the 1 cent/2 cent on pokerstars can be a lot tougher than the 100NL, 200NL tables live. Having said that, you probably want to go with 50 buy-ins ($25,000) just in case you suffer a significant number of bad beats, which you will. Have you considered playing a lower limit starting out, just to sort of gauge the competition at your casino' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Double or Nothing Pros? What small animal, specifically' Yeah, I think I was just putting out a hypothetical scenario. Clearly, if you could maintain a 54% win rate in these DoN, you could probably do very well in the standard SNG's and make a lot more money. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Double or Nothing Pros? Okay, how about this: Play 100 ($104 DoN TURBO's) of these per day = $10,400 Win an average of 54 of these per day = $10,800 Profit per day = $400 X 5 Days = $2000 X 50 weeks = $100,000 per year They take on average about 45-55 minutes to complete so you would have to play 12 table for 8 hours to get the volume in. So, you're hourly average is $50 per hour. Is 54% win rate more realistic' Keep in mind, with this volume, you would reach SuperNova Elite as well. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
