Rake Article Recently I posted an article about rake. The basic premise of the article had a glaring flaw in the statistics used. Only ONE replier spotted the flaw! As a group that constantly discusses the statistical issues of different hands/plays, etc., it is telling that only ONE REPLIER SPOTTED THE FLAW. Most of the other replies were made only to criticize the author or remind me of what a moron I am. There is a FAQ on a popular tracking site that indicates that 2/3 of the players lose money; no wonder. We should all spend more time and effort learning more about poker and poker related subjects ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): More experienced players note taking I've been keeping notes for years. I have notes on every player I've ever played against online; literally thousands. IMO if you don't you're giving up a great advantage of online vs live. Primarily,I want to know betting patterns, range of hands played and betting tendencies. I can't tell you how often it has helped me make correct decisions in tough situations. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

ABSOLUTE POKER & THE WIZ Just as infamous bank robber Willy Sutton is reputed to have said when asked why he robbed banks, "Because that's where the money is;" so goes the drum beat concerning Absolute Poker. This all got me thinking, so I took just a little time to research some of the people and organizations whose names have come up in all this; Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Joe Norton, Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG, Costa Rica, Gaming Associates, Scott Tom, A. J. Green (PotRipper), , and the list seem endless. One just leads to more! BOYS & GIRLS, THEY'RE ALL INTERRELATED!!!! It seems to me that the curtain is ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): wpex I've played quite a lot of tournaments on WPEX. I agree that the lag problem as well as a few others must be fixed before they're ever going to attract significant numbers for the long term. I've corresponded with them often and always get the same standard "boilerplate" answer; their techs are working on it. They also need some larger payouts to attract more players. SILVER BULLET OK! Here it is! The holy grail of poker, which is after all metaphor for life. The recent article by FOX addresses it. I thought to expand and directly give everyone the secret to being successful at poker. No one gave it to me; it slowly dawned on me over a period of more than 50 years of bad beats, huge pots lost and getting my ass kicked from time-to-time. There is an almost unlimited amount of information available in today's world about how to play; how to win; how to become wildly successful. It can be found on the internet, in book stores, at casinos; a nearly endless supply of ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): In response to fj123 (Online Poker Ban) Obviously the only thing to do is legalize poker. It can then be taxed and regulated. Perhaps we'll be fortunate enough to have FEMA in charge, or maybe some other government organization! BULL! Keep it illegal and furtive; played in back rooms and whorehouses. That way it's more exciting and will attract more fish! Posted in: Poker Discussion |
