LHE Tournaments Ian J: Thanks for your article. I am a beginning limit player (and Cardrunners member) trying to work on my game. I play primarily cash, and am considering the switch to SH games, since so much of the instruction is geared to 6-max, and there are so many tables available. I enjoy limit tournaments, but am frustrated by the lack of good resources to study. Also, the LHE tournaments on Stars don't have a lot of attendance generally, which keeps me from playing anywhere near as many as I'd like to. In any case, thanks for a good article, and keep 'em comin'. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Which game better to get FPP's ? I agree with the second half of this statement. It is easy to get side tracked by FPP's and not be as profitable as you should. For instance, playing too long when you have lost your edge. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Which game better to get FPP's ? Of the two limit choices, playing full ring, $1/$2, is slightly ahead. This is primarily because you need to hit $1 of rake at $2/$4, but only $0.40 rake at $1/$2 to get the first FPP. It is not much different, though. Once you hit $3/$6 LHE full ring, the ratio improves a lot. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Dont be just another fat poker player... Let me add some old guy perspective. I am an amateur bodybuilder, planning on competing next spring in the Masters class (>40) of the provincial championship. I have lifted weights for almost 24 years. I would be lost without a weight room. It is not just poker players by any means. Obesity is a raging epidemic in North America with our love of fast food and no exercise. The youth of today will, in my opinion, be facing major health problems in the next twenty years or so unless radical changes are made. Staying in decent shape will be +EV for your poker careers. You will be sharper at ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): full tilt or Pokerstars I much prefer Stars, due to superior software and the 'email tournament histories' feature. I find FT to be very laggy, and in the case of cash games, my autopost blinds (clicked) times out 50% of the time in either the BB or the SB. This is enormously frustrating and not conducive to multi-tabling, obviously. I have absolutely no problems on Stars with lag. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(7): FTP table window size - help please! Disclaimer: I am just a micro stakes limit cash player, mostly $1/$2 to $2/$4. I am not very experienced or good, but I have donated some money as I am learning to my fellow players. I have not yet had the courtesy of a reply from FT support regarding my window size issue. I am basically unable to play, since the window is annoyingly small. I have taken every step that I can to remedy the situation, but to no avail. Am I being unreasonable to expect support to at least acknowledge my email within 4 or 5 days' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): question about getting better... poker software Thank you for your generous offer of assistance. Maybe you could help me with this thread: As additional information, this is an old machine that runs on ME (I know, I know!). I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling FT to see if that irons out the problems, if there is no better solution offered today. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): question about getting better... poker software I would agree with the poster that suggested getting a PC. If this is at all practical, it would save you a ton of headaches and allow you so much more versatility in terms of the sites that you could play and the tracking software that you could use. FTP table window size - help please! Let me first admit that I am an idiot, and save everyone else the trouble of pointing it out. For some reason on FTP, my table window has become significantly smaller. I am not a multi-tabler and I don't have a big monitor, so at 1/4 or less of my screen size, it is VERY hard to see. Does anyone know how to increase it to the larger (default) size' Yes, I have rebooted, and yes, I have contacted their support. Thanks for any assistance offered. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Training site for LIMIT cash and tourney I apologize if this has already been covered. It is hard to search for specifically limit information when 'no limit' contains the word 'limit' too... if you follow me. I am a new player, showing decent profit live at $5/$10 - $10/$20, but losing online overall at $1/$2 - $3/$6. I am doing my homework, both by reading, and by playing, but I think that I am ready to take the next step in my education. Much of the information on this site pertains to NL, but my interest lies primarily (at least for now) in LHE. What training site offers the most information regarding limit cash and limit ... Re(8): Worst downswing of my life... I think that a downswing like this, for developing players, presents an opportunity to improve their games. It sounds like you have noted some areas where you bleed unnecessarily. As you stop the leaks, your game obviously improves. Keep your chin up... it'll come around. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
