Re:pokerstars bad beat jackpot
That isn't necessarily true. PartyPoker had bad-beat jackpots when they were the #1 site. I don't want Stars to implement this though.

Re:The state of online poker?......as a whole
The only thing I really worry about having the government regulate it is that they make the standards for legal operation so strict that only 1 or 2 huge companies can legally operate and they implement an oppressive rake.

Re:Which pre-paid cards still work?
I bought an all-access $100 Visa card at the grocery store last Friday and it worked just fine. Cost me $5.95 to activate so if you don't mind paying the 6% juice it's a decent alternative.

I don't necessarily mind your play. The real horrid move here is that guy's min raise on the flop. I don't know what he was thinking.

Re(1): What to drink when playing??
If I'm playing ring or 1 table SNG then I'll have a few beers. If I'm playing a MTT then I'll drink Coke so I don't get drousy after a few hours.

I play 2-3 nights a week after 9pm. I wait until after the kids are asleep but only play a couple nights a week so I can spend time with the wife.

Re(1): What are your thoughts (Live games)
I need to dip when I play. No way around it. I'm a Grizzley man myself. Tastes just like Skoal but for 1/2 the price. I've found that as long as you do the following you will generally have no problems: 1) Don't get your spit on the cards. 2) Use a dark beer bottle as your spitter (nobody will be grossed out by what they see) 3) Keep the bottle off the table. One thing to keep in mind is that I've found that when using a spitter can sometimes be a tell. Don't be over-using your spitter when you have a hand.

Re(2): Turbo SNG chop discussion...
I know chopping a SnG sounds silly and it kinda is but I've done it twice. 1. The guy had me out-chipped 3-1 but was late for work and really wanted it to end right away. Despite not having much of a stack and the blinds getting really big he offered me a 50/50 split. I was quite happy with that. 2. It was a classic AI fest and I was heads up with another guy and we have relatively even stacks. We played back and forth for about 10 minutes and neither player was getting a good advantage. It was also really late so we just decided to split it 50/50. In both instances I had to rely on the ...

Re(5): Random Dealer Programs....
I believe the OP said he only plays for play money. If that's the case then there are probably 7-9 players seeing the flop no matter what the pre-flop action is. I don't know the exact numbers but doesn't AA become like a 30% favorite against that many players with random hands' If that's the case then winning only 10.5% of your AA hands over a sample size of 57 hands could definitely fall within a normal variance. But as others have said I need to see proof. If the OP has charts let him post them and support his theory. Naturally...I smell bs.

Re(2): Is this move +EV?
Thanks for the reply. Does it matter that I know he won't play that like that with any two cards' Like I said, the way he was raising/betting were making his plays pretty obvious. When he raised to 600 pre-flop I immediately put him on two painted cards, or any pair. Here was my logic. I'm trying to learn to be better so tell me if/where I'm flawed. If there are 6 card possibilities for each pair that means there are 72 hands he could have that dominate me. If there are 16 combinations for any two cards then for AK-JT there are 160 hands where we are in a race pre-flop. This makes 232 ...

Is this move +EV?
This is part bad beat, part hand advice. When we started heads-up in this SnG my opponent was around 11800 in chips to my 1700. He was dominating, however to me it was obvious once we got down to 4 players that he wasn't comfortable playing short handed. He was able to eliminate the other 2 by catching monsters but overall he didn't seem to know when to raise, what to call, etc. I worked my way up to nearly 6k in chips by this point of our heads-up battle when this hand ended it all. Question: Is the way I played deuces +EV in this situation Pre-Flop' What about Flop' I had put him on two ...

Re(1): Jennifear's bankroll and cashout strategy for low limit sng specialists aspiring to move up.
Nice post. Definitely something to consider. My bankroll is currently in the 350-400 range and I primarily play 5.50 SnG's. I have been wondering when I should jump to the $11's. I was thinking I should be closer to 450-500.

Heartland Poker Tour: Check out this structure
I've never played in a live tournament in my life and I don't have the bankroll for anything major. I saw that the "Heartland Poker Tour" is coming to the Turtle Lake casino which is about 90 minutes from the Twin Cities so I decided to look up the info. The Main event is a $2750 direct buy in on Sunday. There are two $500+50 qualifiers to the Main Event that run on Friday & Saturday. Since $550 is still a bit too much for me I was quite interested in the $60 and $115 sats that run for the $550 qualifiers...that is, until I saw the structure. Is it me or is this structure ...

Re(1): Poker Site ever CHEAT you out of MONEY?
When I initially deposited on Absolute my money never showed up in my account, but Neteller had deducted it. It was one of those things where Neteller was insisting that Absolute received the money and Absolute was insisting they didn't. It took over a week to resolve but Absolute finally "found" the money on their end. I'm not suggesting foul play. Since that time I've had other experiences with Absolute that would indicate their deposit/withdraw system is seriously flawed. It will sometimes take over 6 days for them to process my withdrawl requests. Combine this with a new install every ...

For those who play $11 Double Shootouts
If I primarily play 5.50 1 table SnG's and decide to start increasing the number of $11 double shootout sats I play, what can I expect as far as my 1st place % from the $11 DS vs 5.50. For example. If I currently finish 1st 20% at the 5.50 level what pct can I expect to make it past the first leg of the shootout when I jump to the $11 DS'

Re(1): do you agree?
I don't have a problem with your call. Granted I have no idea about how close you were to the bubble or what the chip leader's betting patterns were...has he only pushed in prior hands with KK or AA' In looking at the size of the stacks relative to you, you aren't going to be able to play any hands cheaply. Thus you need to be prepared to push when threatened. You defended your raise and were paid off nicely.

Re(3): Big stack, AA on the button with three pushers
No, I meant re-shove after the BB goes all-in behind you. As I understand it the game went: Limp1 Limp2 LImp3 Hero: 3-4x raise BB: all-in raise (costing half your stack) Limp1 fold Limp2 call Limp3 call Hero call <---Here is where I re-raise and put myself all-in.

Re(1): Big stack, AA on the button with three pushers
I'll repeat what some others have said in that you never fold AA pre-flop. The only caveat would be if you were safely above the bubble in a satillite where the top XX players pay/advance. What I would have is re-popped the bet and put myself all-in. Either you will get the other 2 players to call and increase the pot of which you are a favorite or you will get 1 or 2 to drop and increase your odds by isolating against the original bettor.

Almost exactly 1 year ago I deposited $25 into Stars. I haven't had to re-deposit anymore money. My br peaked at $450 before a bad run dropped it to $200. I've worked it back to $325 now since. Keep in mind that I've also benefitted about $190 in bonuses so my br is not all poker winnings. I play mostly .05/.10NL and SnG's 5.50 & under.

Re(1): Your play on both the flop and the turn please
This is the limit I play. On the flop I'd either raise enough to put uniqnewyork all-in or go all-in myself. I don't want 3 people seeing the turn. On the turn, that second Q would definitely scare me but I agree with the person who said he'd make a crying call. There are just too many instances at this limit where someone is making big bets with 2 pair or a gutshot draw. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the guys had Q9 or QT.

Re(1): micro move up
I'd give it a shot if I were you. My bankroll is very similar to yours and I play the same stakes. $1-$3 MTT, $1-4.40 (with an occaisional $5.50) SnG, .05/.10NL. Give it a shot and if you have a bad run where you lose 25-50% of your stack then go back to .01/.02 and continue grinding.
