Would you take a deal heads up in an MTT to make it winner-take-all? I wouldn't do it. For me right now, the difference between zero and a guaranteed 180K is pretty life-changing. The difference between 250K vs 430K changes what kind of car I am gonna buy. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do u view this as 'wrong' I think it is all fine even the gift card thing with the Wii and the Xbox. The essence of capitalism is seeking out opportunities to make a profit through the use of free market. The refill thing is the only one that seems to be considered directly stealing a product whereas others are stealing business. Do you think companies like McDonald's feel bad that they are the direct contributors of our nation's health problems and obesity rates as a direct result of the pursuit of profit' Now just because one does something wrong does not mean another should do the same thing, right' Depends on ... ****Official Inception Reviews Thread**** Well, whether or not it is Arthur's or Fischer's dream, regardless of whose dream it is, the others that are connected to it and sharing it also have subconscious thoughts that inhabit them, which is why Cobb has visions of Mal and the kids everywhere, even in Arthur's hotel dream. So the attack on Arthur from security could still be the subconscious thought of Fischer imposing itself into the dream world to protect him, like white blood cells attacking a virus :) Posted in: Off Topic |

****Official Inception Reviews Thread**** The genius of the movie is the writing and the concept of it. The different levels of dreaming in the movie seem to be a loose parallel of the 3 states of REM sleep and with limbo, or the 4th level, being the equivalent of a coma (could last seconds or years). Another aspect of this movie which is genius is that the story/plot flow can be represented by that of a mobius strip or the mentioned "penrose staircase". The beginning with "Old" Saito is more or less the end of the movie as well. What is genius about that is that in the explanation by Cobb to Ariadne that our mind is always creating ... 500 bb deep cash game hand - What do you put my range on? villians? I think that the problem with shoving is that he might just muck hands that you can severely value town when it hits. That and you have position on him too so it will make it easier to play you miss the turn. Your hand has a ton of equity against this guy and he will pay off, no need to shut him out. 500 bb deep cash game hand - What do you put my range on? villians? I agree, but if you think that is going to be the case, then you need to be prepared to call it all off from a shove (or shove a raise). More reads on the player would be helpful. He could be an ok player that just had a huge stack and spazzed a little or he could be a total spazztard that just ran ridiculously hot at the table. I am inclined to flat without further reads on the player here. He already paid off and turned a made hand into a bluff. This seems like the type of guy who, if he has a flush draw, will prob get it in if it hits and you can get value from worse pairs if you pair ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Playing online poker without the aid of tools Playing less tables and no HUD can help your game a lot. HUD's may be good if you are going SNE 12-tabling 1/2 on stars or something. There is certainly valuable information to be had, but like gags said it can be come overwhelming, confusing, and hard to determine what information to use and how (correctly). It makes it even more difficult because you are interpreting the data on the fly (read: in game) and if you aren't using it properly, you are prone to huge mistakes and leaks that could destroy you. They can be good, but play 1 or 2 tables of cash for a while and learn how to properly ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough spot in the Venetian $550 yesterday I don't know why those are saying that it is hard for the BB to have the nuts ever. Live, people don't think a ton. You see people snap ship 35bbs with AA on top of a 2.5x open all the time in these games or raise fold 9bb stacks. I would give equal weight to QJ here as other hands. I could see all sets playing like this and nutted two pair hands (top two and maybe top and bottom). That could be a default range. Depending on the player and his style too (which I don't think you have given much information on) and his range either widens a little for jamming or maybe tightens a little (i.e. - ... wow just figured out torrents....wtf how itd take me this long! Yeah blocking those two are ideal. There is an option to allow the usage of standard ports too, I actually leave that unchecked. From what I understand, certain trojans, viruses, etc...., search for set ports when trying to remote connect in order to infect the computer. That will basically block any of the database's listed IP addresses from accessing them, even users. This may limit DL speeds or the amount of users you can connect to, but it will reduce your overall risk. P2P and the Adware, Spyware options are the only ones I have checked. I don't DL all the time only small ... Posted in: Off Topic |

wow just figured out torrents....wtf how itd take me this long! Peerguardian detects activity coming in and out of your ports and pre-screens them for malicious IP addresses, Companies looking to find illegal downloaders, and some other unknown hosts and/or DLers. What I mean by pre-screen too is that before any data packets are sent and/or received from any IP address, it is matched against a constantly updated database to determine if it is just a Joe Schmoe or if it is the Producer from The Hurt Locker. The pre-screen is also supposed to block your IP address from being given to these people so they cannot remote connect to you or won't have any ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Bose style headphones Because they are easily accessible and pretty cheap through online retailers. There are much better over ear companies obviously, but a lot of the headphones in the price range of the bose and beats headphones have higher impedance loads and may require amps. Audio quality suffer from portable MP3 players when using these kind of cans. Beats studio have an amp built into them. Thats why I think thebeats (not solo or any other just studios) are better value than people think, especially at the $240 or less mark not the $300 retail. Posted in: Off Topic |

Diet update after 7 weeks Actually that is the optimal range. A calorie deficit that leads to only 1-2 lbs of weight loss a week helps maximize fat loss and minimize muscle loss. Any more than that and your body begins to use other sources for fuel (your muscle stores and glycogen stores) more. Keep it up! Posted in: Off Topic |

Bose style headphones Seriously, go check them out at best buy but buy your headphones on ebay. You will get fair market value for them not retail. They can be had for $240. They have a more colored sound with lots of extra bass, but the mids and highs are real clear. They also have a built in amp to drive them so you won't need a portable amp for them to sound good with a portable mp3 player. The problem is that they are open can and leak sound so while you can't hear anything, everyone else can hear your music. A lot of people say they are overpriced (retailed for $350 when released) and they are right ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Anyone minds clarifying this concept to me (Raising for information) Calling can leave you playing the guessing game sometimes though. It really is just raising for value or a bluff but there are times where it is appropriate to turn a hand that has value into a bluff. Thats a whole nother world. Need advice on a new pair of headphones RE0 from head direct are some of the best reviewed earbuds by audiophiles that are under $100. Skull candys are pretty garbage imo. The over emphasize certain frequencies (lots of bass usually), but it sounds very muffled and music detail is lost, especially when you compare them to nicer headphones. Bose products suffer from the same thing kind of. They are better quality overall, but for what they are they are overpriced. If you can afford it or save just a little bit more the Shure SRH-840 headphones can be had for about $140 shipped, which is a steal. They are really awesome quality. They ... Posted in: Off Topic |

HSP Ivey seemed to ply the hand fine. Ivey prob read dwan as being weak a decent % of the time, but he could also have a lot of nutted typ hands in his range. Vs a range of straights and sets (maybe top two) if Ivey raises the flop and gets raised back, he will be getting his money in as a pretty decent dog (little more than 3-to-2 dog) for a $1.5 million pot. If he thinks dwan has nutted type, he very well may pay off when ivey hits. If dwan is weak and airballing/barreling, he very easily could barrel a river diamond or 4 straight (J river giving Ivey straight). If he raises turn and gets it ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Small ball.... AHHHHHHH!!!! If you are curious about the style, I recommend Power Hold'em. There are some things that apply and things that don't apply to online play. Daniel Negreanu covers the majority of it in his chapter. Some of the book is mediocre at best, but other parts teach really valuable lessons. For example, DN give a hand and a board. He then develops a plan of attack for different cards and different bet-sizing techniques that can be employed. Some may say it is not worth it, but it is. Also, don't force the play upon yourself. Learn from it, but if it doesn't work for you, find a way to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
