Re(4): 3 betting and 4 betting.
'''' Streets, I must not have understood. Example of 2 Bet etc.. Simplest explanation would be in a Limit situation, the bet is $3 You are first to act and raise.... you make it $6 double the bet you have 2 Bet! The next person re-raises to $9 he has now 3 bet it! The person after that raises again to $12 he has now 4 bet it! Generally, a re-raise in Limit is a 3 Bet. And I generally feel the term leans toward a Limit game of poker. In No-Limit I would generally refer as follows - Raise, re-raise etc... Saying anything like 2 or 3 bet in NO-LIMIT could be looked as in terms of last bet. ...

Re(1): Any successful poker players ever lose passion for the game and just quit?
I know that I'm prolly repeating some things, or not. I've played for a little over fifteen years. I'm sure there has been several times that I didn't play for months at a time. Goes in spurts, I really still enjoy the game and seeing a lot of the younger crowds in the cardrooms and hope that poker continues to sustain and maybe expand a bit more as well. When I was in my 20s, I was usually if not always the youngest guy there at the stud tables. Most of the time by 25 years or so. I've grinded it out at times 3 sessions live per week for a couple months at a time. And just when the wife ...

Re(2): A Poker Story (Noob friendly)
I dunno bout pulling any cash out as of yet. You're playing $3 dollar sng's no' Min. withdrawl is what $25.. leaving just around 6 or so buyins, even without that, you're still pretty new to online thing. You have nothing but your time invested and if you work hard at it maybe no deposit for you either. Just don't leave yourself short. Congrats on doing well, I think that's great that you were able to build any kind of roll from nothing. BTW, I have a million playchips that I don't use (goofed around a few times), that's funny that people would buy playchips. Poker is a lifetime game, work ...

Re(1): Very strange situation at the casino.
Usually a "Mini" for this, jackpot that is. Aces full beaten by at least Aces full, with both hole cards. Not all casinos have this, although a lot do. Did the dealer turn back up/expose the discarded card' Most houses do this as well, they will turn up the exposed card for all to see, then depending on the deal, they will use it as the burn as another card replaced the exposed card. I'm guessing the did a poor job of displaying the exposed card and did this too quickly or not at all, the dealers are usually under pressure to deal a minimum number of hands per hour. A lot of houses want it ...

Re(1): What do you Prefer in Starting chip size
Deeper stacks and longer blinds = Better players win more I guess the alternate is what most of us play. You're near what' 10X BB at break for most structure if you were somewhat idle' Pure aggression and boredom to "Ball" it out with Q8 and a 30BB raise in the first 10 minutes is spectacular I guess. Maybe you'll get a "run good" comment from someone, I see the same style of play Live at Limit and N/L... A lot of young guys with a lot of chips or ATM receipts tooo... mostly the latter.`And pissed there 86 two pair on flop didnt hold as they storm out of the cardroom. Poker is one long ...

How many sites cheat??
Was doing some reading.. found the Absolute story... Is this a fluke or widespread' Have always been reluctanct online to play at 1/10th of the stakes I play for live. Some of the decisions you see are either really lucky or horrible or both. I would like to play more, but personally have never been all to comfortable. Maybe regulation and auditing at a higher rake is the answer.

Re(1): What IS Your range?
I doubt with the blind size you're at a final table, being somewhat committed could make it tough to lay down and definetly getting odds there i'd want something with a bit of showdown value... I'd toss some decent hands at a final table if the money was considerable, other than that GAMBLE>''' Dunno and what do I know anyways. GL

Re(1): uh... 850K+ loss in 2 days
As his blog says, when you're losing it's a double or more whammy. Other players see you losing and capitalize as well as your head not being screwed on right. If I can see I'm in a good state of mind and lost a buyin or two I'll stay. If I'm being honest with myself and really not in the right state of mind to win. I'll leave right away and come back another day. The easy one is when you're winning. STAY and PLAY. for 2 or 20 hours until you start to bleed, then pack it up or log off. Some people say they just need a break. I used to think I needed a week to turn myself around if I was ...

Best site to Come in On??
Had dropped outta the Online poker gig for a long time, had pushed the Live game for a long time. I'm a winning Limit player live. Mostly 3-6 to 6-12 live. Prolly 75% of time is played @ 3-6 and 4-8. Anywho... poker in Colorado kinda sucks, no local cardhouses, you gotta drive like over an hour and more to play 2-5 spread. Had some really great winning sessions here, just not really the same when you have to make a project out of getting there. I liked driving for 15-20 mins and playing in bigger games and tournies. Biggest cash live here was around 100 BB's after 8 hour session. A true ...

Re(1): General question about staking players
Generally speaking the deal is 50/50 minus stakeback. Sometimes I've had where someone staked me in a live tourny, we split the buyin and the profits were 75/25, this was the standing deal in California. No stakeback when buyin was split. Some of the tournies were $250.00 and up, sucks to give away 25% when you cash, whaddya gonna do. Cash tables were the same way, if a staker bought me in at the $200.00 table, we split the profits. Kinda miss that, one of the employees used to buy me in the NL games and push me away from the limit. I was always just grinding it out. I think limit cash ...

Yes call ahead for games, structures etc.. I like to know the name of the floorman and a breakdown of house rules... you should be able to find easily for game and JACKPOT rules. Can't tell you how many times I've seen new players ASSume rules. $1-2 for small / medium pots $2-3 for BIG pots. at 3-6 LHE or 1/2 NLHE. I don't personally tip much than a buck or two for most pots I win. HAVE FUN. I wish I had the butterflies still once in awhile.

Re(1): Unintentional Stalling
Dunno if they'd do anything... But it is poor ettiquette to stall and slow the game down consistently. If you can't keep up... go away. as far as "you can take the allotted amount of time every time" gimme a break. I have seen drunks dragged off the felt and out of the cardrooms for this same thing, unless they are losing and rebuying :-0

Re(1): UB .. been 2 months
It's a sad thing no'' UB had/has the best look/feel of ANY pokersites online. I don't play online much anymore at all, but I still think they coulda been the biggie. I signed up in like 2002 or 3'''' not sure. Lots of weak/tight, loose & whatever players... now, well like Borat said "not so much" I'd rather play with people who I can raise off a broadway straight on the board than those who have been improving their skills over the last few years. Besides that, the good ole days of UB are gone and maybe poker has changed alot online too. I have gotten several checks and whatever ...

Re(1): Downswings Necessary to Becoming a Better Player?
I know this is kinda dorky... I get asked by some of the floorpeople and other players from time to time "How do you always friggin win'''" I was working down in California this and last month and hearing that quite a bit. Do I' Simplest thing is this, I stay when I'm winning and leave if I'm losing. I may buy another rack or whatever sometimes.. but for the most part I will have 6-7 hour winning sessions and if I'm losing or fading out, I'll pack it up. It's really easier said than done, to leave if you're down. Try it. It's really a two or three fold thing. If you're winning you have ...

Re(1): Anyone Call here... thanks in advance
You only had $28 of your 200 roll invested in hand... you knew you were behind and put your roll in on a draw. When you said you "raised to 20" had he bet before you' That could be one time where you were raising on the come to a made hand. Lots of outs there, old rule of thumb for the old rounders was never put your roll in on a draw, just the best/or near of it. Turns out he only had a 9, but for some reason he was making another mistake and protecting a weak hand. GL

QQ EP... ooops me!!!???
I am a solid live player... I can't seem to follow reads for some reason online. Example Wife entered me in some Sunday tourney on UB. 2K entrants, about 200 left Blinds 300/600 My Roll Around 11K / Not great but hangin I get QhQd in UTG and raise to 2500 one caller. Flop is 8h9hTh I am first to act on flop and bet around 4K into a 5900 pot Caller reraises another 2500 and is all in.... I still had about 4-5K or so... I knew I was beat, I prolly coulda found another spot. I overvalued my outs for flush, str8t flush etc.... instead of going with my read and called. He had hit a set ...

Re(1): Pros and cons of using western union
I think I'd rather lay down my cash at the cashier at the poker room or casino than the western union at the safeway. The gal at the cashier knows i'm a poker player, what does the gal at Western Union think you're sending money to every week' Not sure a lot of people want it known they are sending money to questionable places. Playing online is not illegal, i'm pretty sure of that. Is using a service with the understanding that you are violating their TOS illegal. Better chance of that. What about just overniting a check/money order.... if you win having them send you one back''

Deposit Options affect game selection?
Hadn't read any posts in awhile, noticed another series of hits to online poker. Really sucks for a lot of you. How zealous should one be to deposit funds on poker sites'' Will certain falling out of US players be recouped by other countries' Haven't played online in quite some time, curious if there are a lot more foreign players now than last few years'' Was kinda thinking that going to a bar full of guys is kind of a "sausage fest", will the lack of easier deposit options shrink games down to better players and create a "sausage fest" as well. I'd rather that someone call on the river ...

Some of you guys play online for some serious moola... Has to be A LOT less influx of NEW online players.... what are the chances of financial instability or .... other consequences. Me personally, I dabble a little under my wifes name... But started out playing live and gave it up online to any real extent couple years ago. Great game... windows seem to be closing and curtains are being drawn. Guess we'll see what happens with Prohibition #2 as it goes. Really too bad that someone's (our lawmakers) morality influences laws and our lifestyles. Good Luck
