AJs 18bbs CO facing UTG limp + UTG raise from passive players just noticed nhillt is running 29/9. because of the large gap between the % of hands he's playing vs the % he's raising I lean pretty strongly toward fold. Good players very very rarely have a gap that large between the % they play and the % they raise so I assume he isn't iso-ing really light. Posted in: Training Forum |

AJs 18bbs CO facing UTG limp + UTG raise from passive players That's fairly close it really depends how often you've seen this guy iso-ing light. If his range is like 44+,all face card combo hands, and some suited connectors I think you can shove. With just the info you gave I lean fold. Posted in: Training Forum |

ridic spot with QQ that's super close. I lean get it in but maybe that's bad. Just seems to me people do this a ton with JJ and AK because they dont like getting in weird spots with them but maybe I'm jaded because I'm playing so many horribad fish live all the time these days. How much can you make in live poker yearly full time? it's impossible for a 2/5nl live pro to have a losing year. its rare to have a losing month if you're really good. Posted in: Live Poker |

Merge 11$ 2k guarantee. final two tables . It's pretty player dependent whether or not I call there. I lean toward fold in a $10 buyin vs a stack over 10BB Posted in: Poker Discussion |

top set on an all clubs flop if this is at decent stakes I just shove here since pot is around $24k and he has 27k behind. Imo, that looks weakest and has the highest chance of getting hero called by a hand like 88 w/ 8c. if it's low stakes then I might bet around half pot and hope for a shove from him. best play and antithesis-live There's a lot of truth to what ivanov said. He should have folded pre if he perceives you as decent because you obv have a pretty strong range raising from the blinds. I'm fine with your preflop raise sizing if you feel a bigger raise would have folded everyone out. I generally would raise a bit bigger because 800 would get me 3 callers in most live tournies but if you think it gets you 1 caller it's fine. Your flop and turn bet sizing should be 2/3rds to 3/4ths pot. No reason to bet smaller, especailly on the turn. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Would you shove against this maniac? If he truly is a maniac who'd spazz out and minraise way wider than JJ+ and flush draw on this flop then yeah I'd probably shove. It really depends on what kind of maniac he is..... does he put a large % of his stack in with nothing, call 3bets with nothing and reraise flops etc'''' A lot of guys look like maniacs but are only maniacs in the sense that they play a lot of small pots. However they usually have it when they put a large % of thier stack in. The more I look at it the more the raise being a minraise concerns me. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Thoughts about a specific hand and general 3-bet question It really depends on what his perception of you is and how deeply he thinks about hands. Doing things like 3bet calling in this spot to look stronger can be very effective if the opponent adjust by tightening his range. I think the best way for you to figure out whether you get tighter folds is to experiment and see. These sorts of plays work for a while then veryone tries them and the pendulum swings back the other way and you get the opposite response. So if you get tighter folds by 3bet calling now then you'll get looser shoves 6 months from now most likely. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Anyone going to be around for WPT in Tampa FL? I'm planning to be there all week. I'm probably going to play the 6max, the main, and then just cash games. Posted in: Live Poker |

Live Tourney hand I think the preflop call is pretty bad because it puts you in lots of weird spots out of position vs a guy whose range dominates yours if any significant amount of chips go into the pot. Fold pre. As played shove the turn. You're ahead of enough of his range to be profitable. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

1/2 nl hand This is never ever a call. It's always JJ + and usually leans more toward QQ+. This actually isn't even a decision for you. The biggest mistake made in cash games hands down is over playing AK. very easy fold. (not saying it like that to be a dick. Just saying this as bluntly as possible so you understand to never call here unless villain is a psycho.) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

PokerStars $13.50 Knockout, 40BB deep - push or fold spot You can't set mine. You def don't have odds to do that. I fold here with no info on the caller because our decision is completely based on the expected calling range of the caller. If he has AA,KK,QQ,JJ you crushed. There aren't a lot of good scenarios if he calls your shove. He's almost always ahead or flipping. If you just calling you're guessing postflop. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Should I be folding this when the SB shoves??? The worse the players are at your FT the less value there is in calling in marginal spots. Also, the other key consideration is how a call where you lose changes your ability to raise fold or 3bet fold etc. I call here though. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

AK on BB deepish in $11 on Pokerstars I like the shove. People are shoving so deep these days that you can shove wider for value with a 25bb stack than you ever could before. If he calls 88 then he very likely calls down AQo at least and prob AJs too. def a good shove. 3betting or flatting just leads to awkward spots and too much forced guessing postflop. Poker playing to studying/Learning ratio and techniu? I think Tom44411's example is really extreme. I know a ton of online pros and I find that once they become consistent winners many of them don't study. Most of them have absurdly high IQ's though and that's part of why they can adapt in the fashion that Scarypooper describes. Until you're a really consistent winner at decent stakes, if you're not eat-sleep-breathing poker you're just not studying enough. Also, most of the guys I know that dont study that much spend a ridiculous amount of time discussing hands with other top players. I've probably coached easily 100+ players both formally ... Weekly Members Tourney Announcement I apologize for taking ages to get the member tourney going again. We debated what format, what site, how often, etc... We're going to start up the member tourney again beginning in October. It will now be a monthly tourney rather than a weekly tourney. At this time we'll be doing the member tourney on stars. WTF Pocket Fives.. Cardsfan04 vids. Hey Islander. Sorry for the delay in responding. I just now saw this thread. At the time Cardsfan04 did videos for us he had winning stats at the games he was doing training for. As alistair said, he no longer does videos for us. It's our policy to keep all videos on site even after a pro has left the site. A lot of them still have plenty of valuable info. Posted in: Training Forum |

Tournament shark ideal finishes % I think you can definitly look at itm% as a useful stat once you've played say 500+ tournaments. If you're cashing over 20% of the time that usually indicates that you don't take enough risk in early and middle levels(assuming that the majority of the tournaments you play pays top 10% of the field). If you're cashing 10% or less of the time it generally indicates that you take too much risk in early and middle levels. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

88 in wt i think is a tricky spot from bb You really can't hero call here when he bets twice the size of the pot. It's important to consider what % of the time you have to be right in order for a call to be correct when deciding whether or not to call. You have to be right way too often for calling here to be profitable. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
