Re:Weird spot vs SCTrojans in 750k...
so basically people are saying SCT is sometimes raise/folding here, or that he is sometimes raise/calling with AQ or less' Because it doesn't seem like a great spot for him to do either... *shrug*

Re:why do people hate on michael craig?
i dunno if hes good or bad but the one time I've played with him he raised from the CO with like a 17bb stack, I 3bet QQ from the button, and he 4bet shoved K7o on me with absolutely no fold equity obv he hit the K and my free t-shirt dreams were shattered

Re:Questionable 3-bet over-shove preflop by Menlo late in the Sunday Brawl
What do you mean "over-shove", its like 20bb exactly, with lots of antes in play. How is this not totally standard'

Re:FML, misclick..now what?
I don't have time to work it out exactly but looks like you're only getting about 2-1 (26k to win like 50k') so if you think his range is really tight like JJ+,AK or something then its a pretty easy fold.. edit: just realised I'm retarded and you're getting way better than 2-1, ignore me

Re:Help me learn some poker math...
The way I do it is to take the total amount you can win and divide by how much it costs you to call, so in your example you can win 181421 (the rest of your stack) + 26250 (blinds and antes) and it costs you 181421 to call so thats 207671/181421 = 1.1447, which means 1.1447-1 odds. Then you just add 1 to that number and divide 1 by it, so 1/2.1447 = 0.446 which means you need 44.6% equity to break even. (obv this doesn't take into account icm etc but i find it a pretty quick way to find the pure cEV)

Re:Wow! So nobody thought that was funny?
Well mrcasino's self-ownage was obviously not intentional, he posted a hh not realising people might be able to figure out who he was. It's not like he just made a post saying "So I was playing 17 accounts in the 100r today and 3 made the final table, cool story huh'" or something like that I dunno, it just seems unbelievable to me that anyone could be idiotic enough for this to be real, but hey I might be wrong

Re:Wow! So nobody thought that was funny?
Umm.. hang on. We've got two possibilities here: 1. This was an ill-advised attempt at humour that went wrong 2. A long time contributor to p5s and respected member of the community just decides for no reason at all to ruin himself and post a story about him cheating, right at a time when multiaccounting is a hot topic and point of debate People seriously think anyone could be retarded enough for this to be number 2'

Re:why do they call this?
Considering he only ended up risking ~34k to win ~58k even against 99 he's almost getting the right price. And 99 is like the very top of the limper's range

Re:why do they call this?
Considering these guys are limping in with less than 10bb, I think you can assume a. They're terrible, and may actually fold to a shove b. They likely have marginal holdings that your hand plays well against, like KJ,KQ, small pairs, suited connectors etc c. It's unlikely any of them have a bigger ace than you With all the dead money in the pot it seems like a pretty easy shove

Re:Is being all in pre-flop as a 55/45 fav, on final table of big tourny really a good spot.
Tbh you would probably be better off eliminating the idea of "waiting for a better spot" from your vocabulary. Being good at poker is about recognising when you have a mathematical edge and then taking it, that's how you profit in the long term. It's the fundamental concept behind how someone can be a winning player, and if you're passing up these spots, then you are making mistakes and not playing optimally. 5 % is not really a small edge either. It's pretty massive, especially when the pot odds are always laying you better than 1-1.

Re:Dave Colclough red pro...?!
he was in a $40 tourney I played in last night, I don't have a clue who he is so not trying to hate or anything but he was playing really bad like minraising every hand and calling 10bb shoves with J5o and stuff, seemed like he didn't really care

Re:is this a bad play?
He would be getting 2-1 if the villain shoved and getting odds to call any range looser than like 99+,AK ... so... yes, it commits him.

Re:is this a bad play?
About the only way this can be a fold is if villain is opening top 8% or tighter and never folding to a shove. So yeah, pretty much no way are you gonna have that kind of a read on anyone. I guess it's not impossible though..

Re:is this a bad play?
pokerstove is telling me AQo is 37.985% against the top 5% (which it defines as 88+,AJs+,KQs,AKo) which actually makes this shove +921 chips. If you lower his opening range even slightly though, say down to 8%, it becomes -EV. I dunno intuitively this seems like a clear shove but AQ is not as great as it looks sometimes. And the 4x raise also means quite often that they aren't folding. Even if you assume villain is opening top 8% and always calling, shoving is -EV by quite a margin.. the play isn't terrible I don't think but it does depend on them raise/folding at least a good ...

Re:I don't understand this at all...
They probably don't even know what a "min-raise" is. They just look at their cards and think "I like my hand, I'm going to raise", and hit the raise button. I really don't think there's much more to it that that.

Re(2): How can he possibly call this?
umm, I think you have a little too many chips to be risking on a reshove like that tbh.. But yeah, pretty retarded call from him, he's obviously one of those guys who get pissed off when they think someone is making a play at them and just call out of spite regardless of what they have

Re(11): Interesting SNG situation...Donk or no??
even just ignoring the limp and seeing whether calling the shove is good... after the shove there is $820 in the pot hero can win, and it costs $520 to call, odds of about 1.5-1... however against a range of [22+, Ax, KJ+, QJ] (which seems to be what OP implied villain was making this play with) , T2s only has around 33% equity, meaning you would need more like 2-1 to make a gamble worth it here so this doesn't even come close to making mathematical sense unless I made a mistake somewhere..
