Re:All players staying at las vegas hotels for wsop, please give advice ty... Check the individual hotel websites for room rates. Alot of them have good deals now with the recession. If price is not an issue then Bellagio #1 & Venetian #2. Both have fab rooms & great poker & great location midstrip. Hard Rock is cool, but off the strip. MGM has a wide variety of rooms ranging from standard to suites. Poker room has soft low limit games. It is very far down on the southern end of the strip however. Paris is kinda gross, but a good midstrip location across the street from Bellagio. Check for detailed reviews of hotels. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WSOP Registration Question oh I forgot to mention when u arrive in Vegas after checking in to ur hotel , u can head right over to the Rio & sign up for all 3 events at once then u don't have to worry about carrying that around for days! It gets nervewracking checking ur pocket everytime u step out of a cab, or walk thru a crowd of ppl. If u don't wanna do that, I've heard ppl can deposit cash with the Rio cashier using their Total Rewards ID number. Additionally, your hotel's front desk will probably have safety deposit boxes available to use (generally no charge). The hotel room safe would be a ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WSOP Registration Question It really depends what ur comfortable with. Yes lots of ppl do just roll up with 6K or more in cash in their pocket-front left pocket obv. You could also consider going Rick Steve's European style & get a money belt or something else worn underneath ur shirt. They even sell that kind of stuff at Walmart now. Other people do the cashier's check or wire transfer. Prepare to be amazed for ur first time @ WSOP!!! gl Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WSOP Live Satellite Questions true true the satellite room was pretty slammed everytime I was there Here's a link to more info on the mega's, etc. Click on the single table satellites link near the top of this page for more details on the SNG's. The SNG's pretty much play like turbo's. They are supposed to be winner take all, but lots of time ppl will chop when heads up. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Playing full-time after u reread JD's spot on advice multiple times until it really sinks in HELL YEAH-TAKE UR SHOT MAN!!! U put ur time in at college, got a good degree. That will always be there for u to list on your resume. Our country is in a recession, pretty tough to find any job right now, much less a good job. Give yourself a time limit, whatever seems reasonable based on your bankroll & saved up living expenses. If ur winning at the end of that time then re-evaluate whether to keep playing or not. If ur not winning, then hey, u gave it a shot, now start working for the man. We only get one ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:HALP anyone on my poker career dilemma? lock ur laptop in the freezer Seriously, u need to take at least a week off from poker. No playing poker, no reading about poker, no watching poker, no thinking about poker. I've heard similar stories dozens of times. Due to the nature of the game, a gambly personality & disregard for money is required to be successfull. But move just the teensiest bit over that fine line & suddenly u become a compulsive gambler feeling sad, desperate & losing ur azz. If u keep playing right now, knowing that u've just pissed away a substantial amount of money, not to mention all the work ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Dispute over Cash Game ruling - please help OP u are exactly correct in ur thinking of what a "normal" poker room would rule. Seems like maybe the floor got confused & was thinking in terms of a limit game ( with the raise not being a raise unless it's 50% or more of the original bet) or he was confused about player A having originally checked & therefore still has the option to call, fold or raise. However,if the floor was Fully understanding the situation, then this is at a private club, not a casino so really they can go by whatever rules they want. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
