low stake live poker MTTs suck
If you are ever up by Montreal check out a place called Playground Poker. I played a couple of tournaments there and really liked the structure. 13K starting stack 20 min levels blinds at 25-50 to start and the ante did not kick in for 5 or 6 rounds.

Live Tells
Investing in a copy of Caro's Book of Poker Tells is a great idea. Pretty quick read and provides basic tells and gives the caveats that everyone is different. As was mentioned before establish base-line behavior and see where deviation is. A tell I had that I fixed was that if I was talking to someone during a hand and looked down at a good hand I would slow down or stop my speech as I thought about what to do. Luckily this was $5 home games and my buddy pointed it out to me. Another tell I have seen is people who check their cards call or raise and then check their cards again right before ...

When to give it up???
Books do not trump experience. You may be playing at stakes too high for your current skill set. Also you may be trying to play by the book too much and not analyzing the situations that arise. Do not get me wrong the right books can help a lot. However they can not possibly cover everything you may encounter at the tables. Be patient. Post HH here on the forum and continually analyze your game. As long as you do not mind putting in the time and can be honest about your play you will improve. Hang in there and do not get discouraged. As for a limit, do not risk more than you can afford to ...

missed bluffing spot?
As Played: Since you risked more than 1/3 of your stack I see no problem shoving the turn seeing that you have invested so much. This however probably has a small chance of success in getting villain to fold. I think you see villain here with an Ace more often then not. Probably just has a shit kicker and is afraid maybe that you have him out kicked. So you can argue that checking it down is ok too since you will not be beating an A. Other thoughts: I might just shove the flop because any reasonable sized bets commit too much of your stack. If I do not shove I check behind and maybe bluff ...

$12 180 Early Stages - Flopped Flush Draw with 2 overs. Optimal Line?
Regarding the flop: If the stacks are deeper I am for semi-bluff raising the flop. This may cause him to check the turn and give you the option to take a free river. With the stacks you have if you semi-bluff the flop you are committing a decent portion of your stack. This commitment will force you to either fold or shove to a turn bet. Regarding the turn: using "folk" math you can justify a call here because the odds are good for the flush draw or overcards.

Daily dollar; Too tight pre-flop for this stage of the tourney?
Not too much info on the villain at this point in time. Wanted to 3-bet him but a 3 bet is going to end up being just shy of half my stack so my thought was that the 3 bet might as well be a shove if I am going to 3 bet. With this thought I decided I rather lay it down then flip (It is possible I have his/her AQ or AJ dominated) for most of my stack. Should I have flipped or was it a good/ok lay down' Full Tilt Poker Game #24334999471: Daily Dollar (186528882), Table 572 - 120/240 Ante 25 - No Limit Hold'em - 22:12:05 ET - 2010/09/30 Seat 1: longshotnl (3,835) Seat 2: rauty (1,160) Seat 3: ...

Foxwoods
I am going to Foxwoods in a couple of weekends and wondering what hotels/motels people suggest staying at that are within a reasonable (20-40min) drive of the casino. I would like to stay at the casino but that is expensive and I do not play high enough limits to get comped. Any suggestions are appreciated.

In agame Hand Advice Overall strategy.
You do play above my stakes so what I have to say may not apply as much. With that Caveat: I like the No limping, however the one time I will limp is in the SB. If you are fairly certain that the BB will check I am a fan of limping with certain drawing hands because you are usually getting at least 3:1 on a draw. If you do this though you need to be a strong post-flop player in case you hit maybe a pair but miss the draw completely. Then you need to be able to read the texture and have confidence in your hand range assigning skills. A while ago I started experimenting with small ball and ...

PocketFives Open on Wed Sept 1st - UPDATE: PASSWORD INSIDE!
Yeah, when I pasted the hand to see everyone's cash stats I lol'ed. It was definitely cool to run so deep and play against some superior players. I was definitely running insane though saw KK 5x QQ 6x and AA 2 or 3x along with some other great hands. Hopefully some day my stats will be as good as the rest of the tables and I will see them regularly!

You made the same mistake I did (only not as bad) with your first post. Post the single hands history (or up to a certain point in the hand) and then give us your thought process followed by your question. Also a more descriptive/better title would help. To answer your question, I would shove in this spot too. Turns out you were racing and you lost. Shit happens fire up another one.

$10 Super Stack
Nothing wrong with the shove here, you ran into Kings in the BB it happens. As for being 60 from the money, that is still a long ways to go and you would have needed to shove before then. This is appeared to be an optimal situation to double and or steal the blinds and antes it just didn't work out.

18 man sng a10 early
Personally I do not like Shoving UTG/UTG+1 however you are only 6 handed. I know you don't have much left but with 12 BB and no ante I might try and find a better spot to shove (ie on the button into the blinds or blind vs. blind). I think you could find a better situation (not necessarily a better hand) where shoving would be more likely to succeed. If most people call here they are wagering about %50 of their stack, this means if they do call they most likely have A10 beat.
