Good tax news for Professional Gamblers
Tax court rules that business expenses for professional gamblers can exceed gross receipts from wagers, meaning you could show a loss on your tax return, which could result in a Net Operating Loss. NOL could then be carried back or forward to offset income in those particular years. Link to article: There is quite a bit of technical jargon, but the examples at the end of the article help clarify. Also, you might want to provide your CPA with a copy of the article.

For a hypothetical, if I hadn't adopted him, and his mother passed away, should the mother's family step in' Your situation is a little different from mine since I had not been involved in his life from the time he was an infant.

Is his biological father involved in his life' I am the adoptive father. It has been two years since his mother passed away and it hasn't been an easy two years. His grandmother is taking him back to Texas as we speak, since his behavior in school and with me is out of control.

Thoughts and input from OT: Man and woman meet on , fall in love and get married. Woman has, at the time, a 9 year old son. Mom and son have been the only two since the son was 6 months old. Biological dad is a deadbeat, always disappointing the 9 year old. After marriage, match couple has a child together. We now have a step son situation, with a half brother. Step son decides to ask new step dad to adopt him, since he is the only one in the family with a different last name, wants a father, etc. Adoption happens and a month later mom is diagnosed with terminal illness. Annual Tourney in Memory of my Wife - Merge Network tonight
It's that time of year. I wasn't able to set up a private tourney on Merge, so we are going to use tonight's $4000 Guaranteed at 18:00, 10-1 one rebuy, one add-on as this year's tournament in memory of my wife Ami, who passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). I hope some people can play, we always have a good time and it would be great to see some pocketfiver's at the final table. Why can't they keep mayo packets in stock' It's not like they don't see they are getting low. There is one Wendy's by my office that is always out of Chili Seasoning, the little gold packets. I always leave thinking, how hard is it to order some more when you see that you are down to the short curleys'

Found two decent ones in the Hutchinson Kansas News: 12:24 p.m. – Lori a Seeger, 48, Hutchinson, reported that sometime overnight an unknown subject stole a full-size bed set, a full-size mattress and a queen-size box springs from the backyard of her residence in the 300 block of East Avenue F. and 8:40 p.m. – Chancy W. Fanning, 29, Hutchinson, reported being concerned for his children.
