Re:sit n go double up tournaments If you are good enough to have a positive ROI then yes, you will stay way ahead in these. I like the 10 player NLHE games, played a few 6-players but the 10's are better as your only objective is to be in the top 5. Of course blind structure is important, I play on Merge and like theirs. Re:Avoiding shortstacks in cash games? I agree they can be annoying at times but I try and use them to trap other players when ever possible. Similar to a tournament, there are some advantages to using the short stacks to win big pots from the other players. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Brandon Cantu can do? I've been reading over the remaining players profiles since yesterday. I think I am going to cheer on Cantu from this point forward. He just took the chip lead, or at least he had it just before I came over here. I'd love to see Mike the Mouth make the final 27 today and even the final table tomorrow, as long as Cantu is also there. I wonder what the final event will be like in November' I can see them driving the players into the arena in convertibles or on big floats with their sponsors/entourages all dressed up for the show. I sure hope the retain some type of dignity. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Where did I go wrong with KK I play micro tables a lot so think I see what you did wrong here. You needed to bet 1,800 and announce you have a great hand and do not mind taking the shorter stack on. The other player with pocket 4's now loses all value he otherwise saw calling 15% of his stack off preflop. Since pockets are worth about 10% of your stack, 15% is easy to call on a micro table. Even if the shortter stack pushed then you are capped and the other player is calling preflop, he feels safe here even if it doesn't make sense at higher stakes. You were not commited to this flop. With only 600 in pot \, and ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Anyone feel like admitting to multi-accounting?? Here is what I found interesting a few years ago. Several siteshave more than one portal. If you were to register honestly lets say with the original portal, then see a offer from another portal, isn't the mothership itself responsible for letting you know you are already in their network when they see the duplicate name and address lets say' In this case, you are not trying to do anything wrong. You accidently end up with two accounts which somewhere their rules state you can only have one account within their network' I play on a site that is not tracked here. I had an account on one ... Re:Did I maximize profit here? thanks for the input. I think with the risk I took you are correct that I played the turn the worst here. I made the pre-flop call for value, I did not feel the UTG would reraise, just call. The pre-flop agressors weak bet on the flop had to make me think what they were playing with. personally, I am protecting my flopped set on this type of flop, I had an easy call for value on the flop bets so felt fine there. I did not read the turn properly, I was now the one supposed to be protecting their hand. I relied too much on someone betting something if I checked. Your river comment is on mark. ... Re(1): Big hand early in sunday mill whats the play?(multiway-flopped full house) A check is probably the best move. Anyone with a pair of overs is going to test the field. The problem though is if there is someone with overs, the last thing you need is to see one hit on the turn or river. Sometimes it is best to attack a pot like this, someone with an overpair is probably calling anyways, and if an over hits would you muck at this point' Bet like you normally do when the flop does not help you but you have a decent hand anyways to protect. Re(1): fold AA... what do you do? Why would you only 3bet Aces here to start with' I am not sure how many player are left or how many positions this pays, but you are 4th at the table and let 2 larger stacks (potentiall all 3 of them) into the hand cheaply. Seems that you should have bet 500 to open, maybe more, and make a move or take the blinds. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): higher limit vs. lower limit SNGs Seems there is very little difference. Someone with $1k in the BR will play as wrecklessly in a $20 SNG as someone with $100 does in a $2 SNG. I actually find it harder to win as I move up in stakes. No fear in a $2 SNG, showing of fear as I hit $20 or higher. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): 1/2 Live Cash Game, flopped 2nd nuts, your play? Hard one here. If they had JQ they would play it the same way they would play a set to protect the flush draw. Here is the question i ask myself: If I just smooth call here, am I pot commited regardless of the flop' If I am, then I have to either muck or push all-in now. I'd rather muck as you may have 2nd nut str8 but they may have a higher percentage drawing hand if they do not already have you beat. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Merge Gaming has major problem to resolve One of the big attractions to Merge gaming(carbonpoker, pokernordica, Iron Duke and more) is their healthy freerolls for regular cash players. The BIG ONE is their monthly $50k that pays $4,000 to first place. On average, we see about 1,800 players in thie contest paying the top 300. Due to a problem, most of us could not register today. Under 600 players were able to register and allowed to play for the entire bounty. This means about 1,300 of us were not allowed to have a shot at something we worked hard on all month to qualify for. Imagine, over 1/2 the players won free money and the odds ... Re(1): Carbon Poker? They are most active during weekdays. Not bed week nights. They have decent tournaments but you have to be patient. Their freerolls for cash players are great. You get daily, weekly and monthly entries just by playing and building comp points. You keep your points plus get entries. Daily $1k pays $200 to first, weekly $10k pays $1,500 and monthly $50k pays $4k. The most active cash tables daily are the micros. I play the .10/.25 a lot, can usualy find the next 2 levels up easily. If you prefer above $1 then it is ht and miss, rare to find more than one 10-player and one 6-player running most ... Re(1): playing day after big win kind of the same when you win a big pot in a cash game. Next thing you know you are seeing flops you with cards you would usually muck, justifying it somehow. I think anytime you find yourself playing outside your BOX then you need to stop and find out why. Can be a bad beat, a big win, playing too long - whatever it is, stop doing it even if that means you have to stop playing for a period of time. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Final Table Buble...what is your play here? should be a easy call, less than 10% of your chips with the call behind a mid pair. If you flop a set you are sitting pretty. it is also not bad being first to act in this situation. I can not see raising or mucking as an good option. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

My favorite hand - to play against I think we should not only be asked to list our favorite hand, but also our favorite hand to play against. I love to play against AK, aka Big Slick. I think that AK is the most overplayed hand period. On cash tables I know how I feel when I catch TPTK with AK, I seem to get caught up in the moment. I probably play pocket Aces with more thought that AK. When someone flops a King, with AK, they seem to lose their senses. They will play as if they have a set, which means they go down hard against so many hands. I fear AK the most in tournaments, again because players over value the hand so ... Re(1): live 1/2 no limit cash game I agree with the consensus, shove on the turn. I am check raising the flop here big time, I want to isolate and price a over pair or lower set in the hand. If I bet the flop and get 2 smooth calls, I am betting pot or shoving the turn. As for the other players cards, he only has to show if you wait to show you cards in this situation - that is you called his bet so you keep your cards down and ask him to show first - that is your right. Since you showed your cards first, he can muck and you have no right to ask to see his cards. You gave up your right when you showed yuor cards first. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): What can I do?? Balancing work and poker?? What are you other priorities (family, friends, community, etc..)''' Adjust your poker goals to the playing time you have available. Analyze the differences in players you may be facing now by possibly playing on different days and different times of the day. You DO have time to turn things around, you just need to adjust to the amount of time you have available. It sounds like you are trying to too much at one time. My one example. I play a good mixture of moderate to tight agresive cash style in the evening. During the day (weekdays), when I have a day off or time to play, I can only ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): recommended battery back-up system for multi-tabling SNGs First thing that comes to my mind is a laptop, but you still need backup power for the modem regarldess. The more devices you have on the backup, the faster you will use it up. It also has to be instantaneous, and as noted if your internet access is down then it will not matter. I have a backup PC sharing my router in case the primary crashes, have found that a much more useful thing to have then worrying about a power outage. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Props to Phil Gordon FTP article: Suited Connectors and Small Pocket Pairs This is one of the best articles I have read for quite a while on this subject. I vastly over value low pairs and suited connectors, do not play them very well post flop. I am a low budget player, with average skiils. Just a few days into using this advice, but the change has really halped my BR fluctuations.
