probably need well over 1000 tournies to start to see a trend and even sometimes thats not enough just need to try and get to a strategy that works consistently for your game and try sticking close to it for the long haul and change it as you see fit

should also depend on the quality of your opponents for micros you can get away with playing more hands... if you are better then your opponents if not you can tighten up

despite having a big enough roll now to play just about anything i want i do remember the time in which i did have a small roll even with a big roll i still generally play the best tournies when i play if you play on sundays thats pretty much the day you can take a "shot" depending on how u feel if u wanna try to satelite into the mill or just buy into the good 11, 20s or a 55 tourney.

2 many tables to read through the thread so sorry if ill be repeating what was said... already emailed stars before reading this with my dislike of this change... it will lower the fields in the long and short term since the longer rebuy time will bust more players quicker i know its done just to meet there gts... but at the very least they should have made the add on much higher then the 2k chips i highly doubt ill be playing the rebuys as much unless its sunday. i guess we all will know in 1-2 weeks if this was succesful

well theres only so much you can do to prepare as long as you try to have enough sleep your mind is functioning and make sure you do eat when your multitabling somehow for me ive noticed im at my best after a long session all my good tourney results always fall at the end of my sessions and then its just about playing well and playing as close to your a game as you can the only thing that makes sunday brutal on your mind is when you bust out of all the major tounies when you get it in good then its hard to combat your emotional state so if you can beat that part of not tilting your ahead of ...

if you do only tournies im guessing its higher then 75pct of the time you will wind up being down on the day if you put in volume it can be really annoying when its weeks/months at a time of just losing thats what makes tournies difficult

does anyone try to get to know people nowadays although 1st impressions typically dont show off peoples good sides on the tables ive gotton 2 know 2 people that at 1st glance didnt come across as the nicest person in the world but devins just a sickly good poker player when he has his game on if only i learned from him 3 years ago

think about it in terms of the prize pools assuming your talking about tournies on sunday you can make 100k in a day and in cash games typically fri sat and sun nights have the most action so it pays to play on weekends as much as you can

this year i started out with the intention of going for nova elite the 1st 2 months i was up almost 30k and the 3rd was my biggest losing month ever i think which was between 6-7k then i decided not to bother since it was just to many hours that your forced to play daily and playing either a certain minimum hands or min sngs is tough day in day out... fast forward 6 months later when i switched to tournies halfway through the year and ive final tabled 2 big tournies ive put in volume but not nearly as much as i did for the intention of nova elite and it is soooo ez to burn out and hate the ...

with 4 left i lost a couple pots in a row and became the short stack they were all begging to do a deal so i agreed to look at numbers but before that some1 offered a deal that sounded ok to me esp being i was the shortest stack 210k for 1st 169k for 2nd 3rd and 4th despite me not being worried about the field i was at a big enough chip disadvantage i decided taking that deal is +ev some1 wanted a chip chop i told em im not doing a chip chop we can keep playing then and a half sec later he took the deal 2 bad i didnt win it bracelet would have been nice finished 3rd

he was one of the best players left deep but apparently im not to bad myself that tourney was fun the deal was so good it didnt even matter all that much more which would have been pride to win that bracelet

on 1 hand i can agree with some1 who is doing this as a part time thing to see if they can do this. i started to get good results while in college and inevitably stopped college due to my results, but this game isnt exactly easy ive tried teaching atleast 20 people i know and not one has had success it takes alot of skills. you need to have bankroll management insane emotional control being able to force your mind to play when you dont want to when you do this as your profession its not exactly fun any more. i got lucky this year to find my way back into tournies i took a long break from them ...

i prefer betting the flop since very very few players will call without an ace and atleast you see where your at youd prefer to be the one in control of the hand then just check calling and hoping ur good by betting the flop ull know where your at more often then not

the 180s turbos are ez not prob as time efficient and at some times u need to pay attention but they typically cover my tourney buy ins daily and atleast put me in decent position to make some ground on tlb so for me there really +ev gl

also depends on how u feel in your abilities i used to 24 table either sngs or 50-1 but only about 6 months- 1 year later did i realize after doing it that switching to tournies and usually 9 tables or less helps immensely the 5 buck sngs u can prob grind in your sleep and they shouldnt be that swingy the last time i remember playing 25-50c 6 max i was teaching my fiance and i noticed the games changed and felt more like 50-1 and 1-2 in 6 max months back im not so sure the low stakes sngs have evolved quite as fast and i agree with being able to switch back to a diff game if you feel your ...

your ques made me look up my own results and to quickly look at players i deem better then myself it seems 20pct of winning tournies or higher seems what a very good player can achieve when making a final table although there are tons of factors and im sure less then that is more then acceptable when it comes to higher buy ins im sure some1 else may think otherwise though

try to remember when you do get ak aq or jj deep dont just automatically stick it in and hope 4 the best keep in mind if theres a raise and reraise in front i personally hate just throwing it in there if i have no reads on players there is more 3 betting now but you dont want to put it in blind so just make sure to look 4 good spots and dont just call of your stack since its the 1st hand uve seen in a while even if the situation is miserable

vs an aggresive player and some history with him in the mill his overshove vs me was with 7s so id gladly call with jj knowing his range is also sometimes a bluff or lower pps which compensates for the times your flipping and the very small chance your beat pf

also ud like to shove into a stack that you can get away with in which case the cards dont really matter but when ur shoving into a bigger stack or really really short stack id say an ace high cards or pps but since your m is 5 your not totally desp so depends also on the table dynamics and how you feel and how aggres the table is if its passive you can chip up much easier
