All in post flop on flush draws??? Is it just me, or has there been an enormous increase in the number of 'tards pushing all in on any flush draw post flop lately' Ace high to 5 high, they seem to reshove any post flop raise instantly this weekend ... and with jokerstars 'random generator' I think I lost every one of these... edit .. to clarify, I mean in the early to mid tourny games when the blinds and pot sizes are small compared to the stack sizes. Live low stakes tourneys .. AQ UTG ? I've been playing occasionally at a local casino the $25 to $120 tourneys with usually about 60-150 players and ran into trouble with AQo UTG a couple times, I'm curious how others might play them. Both times were about mid game, and I had an above average stack (15ish BBs perhaps as the blinds are starting to really increase) and lost major pots both times. Is AQ such a trouble hand UTG that I should just be folding these and waiting for a hand in position or am I just getting coolered' 1st time, I bet 3xBB preflop and get called from the BB. Flop comes A74 and my opponent shoves ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:JJ played correctly? Limping OTG then getting reraised to 100 then a call, that's at 2 players already in the pot, your call (3) invites the last guy (4) in with pot odds and you are really just fishing for a set now. You want to get one on one with JJ because against 4 players in you will likely have someone hitting a good draw or overcards on most flops. The idea behind your limp was you wanted some action, and not just getting the blinds by raising to 120 or so and having everyone fold. A reraise will limit the action and give you a chance to see where you are in the hand. When play comes back to you ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Bankroll Management $50 Deposit You are pretty much just like myself and thousands of other recreational players out there. The idea behind bankroll management is not necessarily to only buyin for 2-5% of your current online account balance, but of what you would be comfortable risking over time without getting yourself to a point you are no longer comfortable with your true gains/losses. Personally, I 'allow' myself a monthly poker allowance for both online and casino play, which is smuch smaller than a typical bar tab. If I'm up for the month and don't make a deposit, I might treat myself to a live ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Deepish in the 5k guar on PS So on that flop with it checked to you, there are three choices... 1) Shove hoping to take it down and possibly get called by a wide range that beats you (horrible) 2) Raise hoping to take it down and fold to a reraise (probably the better choice) 3) Check for pot control and to see the next card (likely my choice, also likely the wrong one) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:What is it about the $4-180s that kills me? Thanks so much for that link, the early midgame information is quite intriguing (levels 4-10) and I think I'm starting to see where my problems are coming from. I need to change my 'normal' SnG strategy there, likely the same problem I have with the 45s & 90s, just not as pronounced. (I do best in the 9s-18s-27s) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:What is it about the $4-180s that kills me? A) You are illiterate and couldn't read the question. B) You don't really have anything constructive to add. C) You are a smart ass. D) All of the above. I'm looking for a reason I do well at the $1 and $5 levels but get kicked at the $4s (this graph includes rebuilding my ROI from my long and painful learning process at the $1s until I starting reading to improve my game. In MTTs I usually get near the bubble and killed by doubling up shortstacks who repeatedly outdraw me, and I do well in the 1 and 2 table SnGs, but the 90s and 180s are the game I think Id like to solve as I ... Should I play small ball here? I need help, got into another trouble situation early on in a live game on the weekend. I was playing live at the casino on Friday night, $30 buy in, freeze out, 43 entries, turbo (15 min blinds live poker), top 4 spots payout. There are 11 players at my table, and the first 6 hands have been wild with a lot of chips moving around (one player already busted). It is nearing the end of the second level (50/100) and I'm in the BB, I have folded every hand so far and still have my starting stack (4k) and get dealt 7-7. Six players limp in front of me (including the SB), I decided to check ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this a cold deck or a spew? Oops, next time make the storyline match the action, I feel like I am reading an old Bruce Lee flick with the english redubs.... The overpush shows you were scared to death (with zero 'read') that he had 2 clubs and were afraid he'd flush the river... As for spew or unlucky, you played trash cards from the worst position and got roasted... next time fold. It took me a long time to quit spewing from the SB at microstakes, and I'm still not profitable, but improving thanks to P5s etc. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
