Re:Quit my job today going fulltime Just read an interview with a "serial entrepreneur who conceived the Founder Institute," basically a night school for budding entrepreneurs. He advised, "We don't encourage people to quit their jobs. [A job] is a legitimate funding vehicle in this financial market: Be gainfully employed." I have long thought of a budding poker pro as an entrepreneur. Work is a great way to increase the size of your bankroll. - JDW Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:The BIG Problem of Poker Players Excellent thinking at just the right time of the year. Some thoughts. I just bought a fitness-club-quality elliptical trainer, which is just feet away from my computer. Replace whatever you are currently drinking (during play) with water. Think of poker as a sport, for which you have to get in shape. Find somebody who will do a weight-loss (typically) prop bet with you. Put a before-pic on the frig. Fruit, fruit and cottage cheese, smoothies don't take an longer to prepare than take-out. Write down your goals re fitness and poker. Good luck. Work hard. - JDW Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Odd Confession @ myself and online poker As far as I'm concerned, avatars and screen names (often) constitute tells. And reverse tells. Obviously. Durr & OMGClayAiken both chose their names to appear "stupid." Or annoying. Or both. Two smarter players it'd be hard to find. I forget durrr's avatar on FTP, but Galfond's is an old fat lady. Whitelime has been using a crazy plant his entire, hugely profitable career. While krantz has a clown. In all cases, they are trying to appear weaker than they really are. Watch your opponents' play vis a vis the avatar and screen name. Invaribly, the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
