Cross Posted from 2+2...who dropped out of college to play poker?
I went to college for 3yrs. During my 3rd year of taking general credits I was really serious with poker and ended up getting some good backers. For the last 5 yrs I played poker professionally and traveled quite a bit. It's a cool life for a kid but a tough lifestyle as an adult, especially one that wants security and a lot of balance. I am still playing poker professionally but am currently back in school to finish up my degree. The poker lifestyle is hard because it's tough to have a good level of wellness (Keeping in balance all areas of life such as: Physical Health- sleep and exercise, ...

Re:standard fold pre?
I fold this pre. Kleath is a solid reg not opening who isn't opening light and playing aqo to his ep open early in the tourny isn't going to be profitable also the fact that it's early in the tourny and you are mid pos... you prob get a few bad players hitchhiking (calling behind) making things sticky and a big pot pre. Fold and don't tell anyone :P

Re:Spot vs Pwnasaurus in 50^3
I'd guess he never has AA or KK here as the opener is early pos which usually weights their range stronger and him raising would look bluffy like a squeeze likely getting the utg player or yourself all in pre. He small raise size is giving room for you to raise. I'd guess he has set or huge draw either way with how deep your are fold is prudent.

Re:1k on UB/AP early spot
Before making the 3bet on the flop you should have a plan. I think with his big raise size and such a draw heavy flop pretty standard to 3bet get it in. You could also call the raise and check raise all in on safe turns but that can get tricky and he should be smart enough to know when you call the big raise your range is real strong and he might just take the free card.

Re:so you 3bet light and miss
First off I think you should make your 3bet size even a bit smaller. This will be just as effective and will allow for a smaller cbet postflop. Keep in mind that button vs co is very obvious so you must know if this person is willing to 4bet jam wide or not... easy spot for people who are willing to jam wide. Assuming he's an ok player in a 50$ tourny id say you get folds or calls more often then 4bet. Since these types of players call more than they should your hand should have some type of flop eq. such as 56s, 22, maybe a random q k or a... anyways.. So now that we've 3bet lets ...

Re:What amazes you most about online pros?
There are different levels and class of pros. To me what's amazing is certain players who put in a lot of volume and continue to really work hard on their game and improve and be consistant over time. Ones that can be smart and humble with thier winnings and who not only have strong strategy but are very strong willed and control their emotions real well. People who strike me to be like this would be gboro, amak and menlo.

Re:AK late in tourney
Ok the problem here is that it's a 50 cent tourny but Im going to ignore that fact and let you know how I'd normally aproach this. First off he has a big stack so he's had to have done something to get those chips hopefully you've see what it was and got a read on him. Also you have a real deep stack so you wouldnt really want to "spew" that big of a stack off. Usually an open for the min is either a weak - medium hand such as kj, a10s, 78s, or it's AA. So most the time I would attack these weak opens with or without a hand. Here you obv have a big hand and I ...

Re:Hand from FTOPS 5k 6-max
I was watching the tourny pretty close before this hand and until the end and when this hand came up was suprised Kev. didnt just 4ball 100% of the time. Brandon is super crazy and prey's on any and ALL situations to make moves. ESPECIALLY on any bubbles. I think this was def. a raise 4 ball. I do pretty much agree that around this time frame Kev. was playing tight, Brandon and Amak were the most active and then pills behind them although as Barry pointed out good players shift and go through slow or bad stretches but sooner or later they have to revert to their "natural" ...

I myself have done nothing wrong. I dont condone the actions of my brother, who while banned on his own account seems to have obtained another account and played on it. Myself along with several friends from the area have been banned because of his actions. The people who were banned have transfered money to him and then there's me, who is punished by being his brother' They are in fear that I will let him use my account which has never happened and will never happen. I am an honest person and dont want any of this to fall back on me. Here is the email from stars: Hello Jason , In ...

Re:With no reads, what do I do here with AQ?? good advice wanted
I like a fold here. I dont like playing a hand like AQ in a multi way pot which this will def. be 3+ players in the pot with you. Also, I know people like to isolate limpers light but they usually isolate 4x+ here with only the 3x raise his hand looks stronger and is begging for the limper and others to come in. Poker is a lot easier to if youre playing most pots with control; if it doenst feel comfortable taking control of the pot then a muck is usually a good idea.
