Stars players no longer on PAD?
Just read this on Daniel's Myspace blog: "So it looks like I will no longer be playing on any more sessions of Poker After Dark. When I first heard the news that PokerStars would no longer be allowing it's players to play on PAD, I was a bit perplexed. However, when I heard the reasoning behind it, I agreed with their decision completely. I won't go into too much detail as to what exactly happened, but the decision is absolutely the right one. PokerStars didn't become the world's largest poker site by accident, there are smart people making key decisions as to ...

Re:Best Player & Worst to win WSOP ME and Runner UP
Well if you're factoring in that he said that he has a dislike of tournament poker and that he wasn't quitting his job, that might make him the worst. But that seems like a bad reason to call him that. He probably only wants to play as a hobby.

Re:MLB Award Winners
And now for Part 2, if anyone's still interested: AL Rookie of the Year: Jacoby Ellsbury, Red Sox (.280, 9 HR, 50 SB) If you saw the Sox in the 2007 playoffs, you got a glimpse of what this guy could do. If you've seen the Sox under Terry Francona, you know that few of their players get the green light. But Ellsbury is the exception to that rule, as his 50 steals led the American League and gave the Sox numerous scoring opportunities, which is key with the lineup that's behind him. Ellsbury, along with Dustin Pedroia, played a crucial role in keeping Boston's offense alive ...

MLB Award Winners
OK, now that we have reached the end of the MLB regular season, it's time to make some predictions on who should take home the hardware. AL Most Valuable Player: Josh Hamilton, Rangers (.304, 32 HR, 130 RBI) A lot of big name hitters had down years in 2008, and this is a guy that took advantage. When you consider that he came back from drug and alcohol addiction, and had to adjust to a new league, it makes his stats even more impressive. His numbers did begin to decline around mid-August, but this is still a solid year by nearly anyone's standards. (Also considered: Joe Mauer, ...

Online poker is only part of it. I've maintained that if Republicans are indeed dead set on preventing people from playing poker, they likely wouldn't stop there. What's next' The only thing that we know is safe is the 2nd Amendment.

Re:Presidential Guide Out Today
Only if you care about personal freedoms. That's not a statement imploring you to vote for Obama, given that I'm pretty lukewarm on the guy myself. Barr might be able to get votes if he is invited to the debates (for proof, look at the vote totals in 1992).

Re:What do you do with AJ and AQ off in early pos. in a MTT?
Hands like AJ aren't good against people with wide calling ranges. Of course, there are times you fold it and wind up bubbling in the tournament anyway.

Re:I hate donks.
See, I keep hearing that. But when you've played in games where checking 77 in the big blind (in a situation much like that one) drew nothing but laughter, and where pre-flop raising is impossible because you know you're going to get repopped, it's pretty hard to believe it. Personally, I think I need to consider a new hobby. It's obvious that I lack something required to be good at this game, and with people like hummer sneaking around here just waiting to kick guys when they're down, it's not even worth the hassle to recount this stuff. Yeah, it'll hurt to lose ...

Re:I hate donks.
Really' So I should just let a guy who limp-raised Ace-rag just bully me around like that' That doesn't seem like a way to get ahead in this game. And on the second hand, since the guy wasn't going anywhere, I should just fold' I'll give you the fact that my raise was a little weak, but aces are still aces. And to the guy who "lol'ed" earlier' I don't care if you're a Supernova Elite who plays 200/400 NL and earns 800 points an hour, you still don't have to be such a snob about it.

Re:What is the method to this madness except ticking me off?
I think they are too. Hands like AA, KK and the like are most effective when the field is thinned. In family pots, they almost never holds up. Re-raising to test the player's mettle is a good strategy, as long as you have a deep enough stack to do it. Otherwise, you might have to make your stand if the raiser comes back over the top of you.

Re:What is the method to this madness except ticking me off?
It is extremely frustrating when people make that play on me repeatedly. Here's why: You can't fold most times, because you're usually priced in. Smooth call' Not without giving the guy what he wants--a cheap look at the flop. It's tempting to just re-raise the guy--until you realize that an extremely popular play online is to min raise monster hands to get the most value out of them, or to set the hook in case of a re-raise. (Why is it popular' I don't know. Must be more donks out there than even I thought.)As with any poker situation, it all depends on the read you ...

Captchas?
While playing in a 180 man tournament tonight on Stars, I got a prompt to enter a captcha (a simple word) in the chat box within 100 seconds. The message said the purpose was to ensure that humans were playing, and not bots. This seems like a good idea (unless you get the message when you're away from the computer, but that's always the risk you take). Has anyone else seen this yet, either on Stars or another site'

Re:two dollar donkament
I would instacall. There's always the chance he flopped a set, but it's more likely that he has jacks or queens and is hoping you didn't hit the flop. And if he did get the set, shoving here is an overbet.

Re:Tough spot...how should I have played this?
Thanks for the responses. I did go all in on the flop, and the guy on the button turned over Ad 8s for two pair after everyone else folded. Unfortunately, the turn was 3c and the river Td, sending me home one spot short of the next pay scale. Would shoving pre-flop have worked' Maybe, but I have a feeling he still would have called with the size of his stack. But after that flop, I knew there was no getting away from it then, so I made the move.
