Re(6): Looking BAD in WASHINGTON STATE !!!! Bizzz, there's a big differnece. It's illegal to smoke pot, but you can still buy High Times in every state, even though they have articles explaining how to grow weed. Should libraries in Washington burn any books they have that reference internet poker' Or better yet, maybe the state can subpeona the library records, see who been checking out those books, and investigate them--get a warrant, go seize their computers and see if there's evidence of online gambling. Or maybe they can just prosecute them for reading the book, and prosecute the author for writing it. Do you seriously not see ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): FT UB $100--- 6 left.....right or wrong call by me?----thx After you bet 8200, I think you have to call if gator was playing as aggressively as it sounds like he was. Having said that, I don't see any reason to open with a pot bet at this stage of the tournament. A raise to 6000 will have the same effect but is less likely to commit you. (Although I'd probably still say call even if you only opened for 6000, so the result would be the same.) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

UB 8:01 $100 running with 12 minute blinds? The UB 8pm $100 MTT is running with 12 minute blinds instead of 15. Did they change the structure, or is it a one time glitch' I took a couple days off, so I'm out of the loop--anyone know what's up or how these have been running the last couple days' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): They raised the juice AGAIN!! And then top finishers are still expected to tip the dealers. Would it really be that hard to get the networks to at least cover the vig (meaning rake and amount withheld) in exchange for the use of unpaid talent' In televised tournaments, if 100% of the players' entry fee went to the prizepool and the networks covered all of the expenses, TV would still be getting an amazing deal from a production standpoint. Can you think of any other reality show or sport where the talent is not paid AND they have to completely fund the prizepool AND they have to pay additional fees to participate' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): Ethics: Taking over for a friend online.... They're basically two different games. You can't play multiple tables in live poker, either, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to online. You can't simultaneously play tournaments at the Mirage and Bellagio, so you shouldn't be able to play on UB and Party at the same time' "As long as taking over is related to a genuine issue and is not multi accounting by proxy, I don't think it makes any sense to regard it as wrong." That states my position much better than I was able to myself. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): What do WSOP Virgins Need to Know? Two mistakes I made in 2004-- 1) Don't fly in the night before the tournament. Give yourself a day to settle in, get registered, and get a good night's sleep. 2) Stay in the Rio, or as close to it as you can. I was on the strip when it was at Binion's, and it was such a pain in the ass having to taxi back and forth every day. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Ethics: Taking over for a friend online.... I know where you're coming from, but the bottom line is, online poker and live poker are two differnet games. This is just another rule that doesn't apply to online poker simply because it is unenforceable. It's like the one player to a hand rule--what are you going to do, put everyone on web cams so you can see if they're getting advice from a friend about a hand' In a live tournament, I would freak out if someone was getting advice during a hand, but online, I accept that it's happening. I do think it's unethical to have someone take over a tournament just because they have a better chance ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(10): legggggggggy "I have seen the ranked players push in with j 10 os before, where the hell does that become a good play'" All I'm saying is, if you don't see that there are situations where pushing with JT becomes a mandatory move, then you're way too caught up in hand values and have a lot to learn about tournament strategy. Given your description earlier of your experience level and desire to learn, I didn't really think I was saying anything controversial there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(8): legggggggggy No offense, psycho, but you definitely need to read a book like Harrington on Hold Em 1 and 2. You're way too caught up on hand values and you're not considering issues like stack size in relation to the blinds and so forth. It's not enough to watch top players, you need to understand why they're making moves when they are. Moving in with J4 is almost mandatory in that situation, as is calling with 22. Re(1): UB Step Number 1 Good news, KK! Thanks a lot. Definitely not the only issue with the new schedule, but a significant first step. Of course, now a lot of west coast players won't be able to play--maybe they will be able to have an 8:00 and an 11:00 or midnight to cater to both. But for purely selfish reasons, I'm very happy to see the change. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): UB is not done yet. The Sun $125K is next... "Im sure all the reps on here will keep saying be patient like they always do. . ." I wish people would stop saying this. The player reps are obviously as pissed as the rest of the high stakes players about the changes--these tournaments are their "bread and butter." Obviously they just don't have much influence, or the changes never would have been made in the first place, but that's not the point. I haven't seen a single one of them defend UB on this issue. Re(3): Email to Full Tilt Poker- please read No, a larger ante puts more in the pot for a good player to steal. You can still make the same 3xBB bet to open the pot, but now there's a lot more to win with the same bet. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): UB Again, none of this makes any sense. An 8:00 $100 MTT that averages 200 entrants brings in $1800 in rake. They replace it with a $10 tournament that, even if it somehow draws 750 players and meets its guarantee (and it hasn't, yet), only brings in $750. UB has exactly two (and only two) strengths: the speedy software and the great structure for $100+ MTT's. $100 MTT players have been VERY loyal to UB through all of the ups and downs. It's seriously like UB said, "OK, now how can we really piss off our most loyal customers' I know, let's just drop all of their favorite tournaments. Now ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): UB Agreed, it's incredibly frustrating. Many $100+ MTT players supported UB through their inept upgrade because we love their $100 structure, then they make it impossible for anyone with a day job in the eastern timezone to play those tournies anymore. The 8:01 was drawing large fields (for UB) every night, and was usually meeting the guarantee. If the guarantee was the issue, how hard is it to just drop it to 15k' Instead they replace it with a $10 buy in, they replace the midnight $50 with a $10, they get rid of the Wednesday $200. None of this makes any sense, unless they're actively trying ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): UB Wednesday $200 I just e-mailed them. So many players have stuck with UB because we love the structure of the $100 tournaments, and now they've made it nearly impossible for those of us with day jobs on the east coast to play them with any regularity. They've replaced so many of the higher buy in tournaments with $1, $5, and $10 tournaments--wtf' I don't have any problems with lower stakes, but why does it always have to be one or the other' If they don't get a guaranteed $100 buy in MTT back everyday between 7pm and 9pm eastern, I just won't have any reason to play there anymore. . . and that would suck. ... Re(1): nld me.....except for result For all of the times I've wanted to make this laydown, I've never been able to make myself do it. If it's any comfort, I'm pretty sure if you'd have played than hand, the board would have been different (at least if I'm interpreting UB's info on their RNG correctly, board cards aren't selected until they are needed, so the random variables would have been different if you had done anything differently than you did).
