Re(1): Absolute will hire 3rd party investigator....(Str8 from Seif's blog)
We should at least give credit where credit is due and watch how this plays out. They're hiring a third party investigator, that's a good thing. Any of us who expect them to simply say, "Case closed" based on the word of some online poker players are delusional and too self-absorbed. Some great guys helped bring it to light, and we all appreciate it, but let's not get crazy here.

Re(1): eliminating screennames from online poker
The idea isn't a good one, because every time someone lost a hand or felt like they were doing poorly, they could just log off, then log back on and rejoin the table, and their opponents feel like they're starting all over again. Online poker isn't live poker, but your suggestion wouldn't even be good online poker. It'd add an element to the game that has nothing to do with poker. Plus, what about a tournament' You're moved from one table to another, and then there's a redraw, and you have no idea if any of the players at the table are guys you've played with earlier in the tourney' There ...

Re(1): Hollywood Park National Championship of Poker
I'll be at the Main Event next Sunday, $1K buy-in. Hollywood Park is a dump, but their tourneys actually have good structures. I actually final tabled with Jerry Yang there last year in a $500 event. I've final tabled a couple times at Hollywood Park, and both times I had security escort me to my car with my cash.

Re(1): Winning low buy-in players, what do you play?
On Ultimatebet, I've made $1000 in the last week playing $10-30 6-man turbo sng's, 2-3 at a time. Playing a couple at a time keeps me solid and not too frisky, and the players are bad enough that I just clean up. I've been a winning player for the last couple of years, playing a few times a week, but I've really found my magic bullet in the last week.

AP/UB inside info, with a note about Full Tilt
Just got this note from a friend of mine who's VERY connected and high up, after I'd alerted him to what was going on and asked him about it: "Yeah I just talked to jason (full tilt player rep) who just spent a bunch of time w mark seif. Totally legit. Absolute is going down, and possibly ub is going down with it. Apparatently it’s a support account that a guy was using. The problem is that with a support account on full tilt, you still cannot see other players cards because that info is stored only on their computer and the server, not transmitted out to other users. B/c this account could ...

Looks like all those thousands of hours spent frying your eyes and developing a pasty skin hue in front of a computer, while the "cool kids" like Scott Tom played street hockey and made out with cheerleaders, have paid off! If this were made into a film, it'd be Revenge of the Nerds 4. Good work...

Re(4): muck flopped trips?
preflop call is fine. flop check-call is okay, although a check-raise to 800 or a lead out would have been better in a four-way pot. but check-call is okay. check-call on turn isn't great but not awful, either. problem is, if alarm bells are going off, then you've got to listen to those and figure out a way to define the hand. a check/min-raise on turn isn't bad, knowing that if he shoves against you, he probably doesn't have KJ, and you can maybe fold. but regardless of the debate about the flop and turn, the river shove really doesn't make sense. again, if warning bells are going off, ...

Re(10): DanDruff puts together what happened on AP (Respond here Interesting read)
absolute said there's no way for a person to see all the hole cards while playing. OBVIOUSLY, absolute can find out everyone's hole cards simply by looking at everyone's hand history and combining it. if everyone at the table can request and receive their own hand history, then obviously absolute can ultimately know everyone's hole cards. they weren't claiming they couldn't figure it out, they were saying that there isn't a way for a player to see them while playing. and, as we now know, potripper couldn't see them while playing; he was told the cards by an observer. but yeah, i guess you're ...

Re(3): KK two minutes into FTP 1K...what do you do ( ship happens hand )
am i stupid for thinking that you would have done the three-bet with AKs' and then if ship four-bets to the amount he did, that you're getting correct odds to call with AKs' i'm not sure i buy that you'd only EVER call with AA there, and even if i did, i'm not sure that i buy that a smooth call tells ship that you MUST have AA. poker isn't played in a perfect vacuum--sometimes your opponent isn't the genius you assume he is nor playing his perfect game. that said, i think your shove with AA was by far the best play, and i'm surprised it wasn't called. you don't have to defend it. i'm simply ...

Re(8): DanDruff puts together what happened on AP (Respond here Interesting read)
Simply saying, "The reason they made such a huge and obvious mistake is that they're so stupid" isn't any kind of evidence. Logic and common sense have to come into play when analyzing a conspiracy. It takes more faith to believe that every one of the bad guys involved (from the cheater to AP) is ridiculously stupid, and that the guy who did this doesn't know a straight from a flush, than it does to believe that there wasn't a multi-level conspiracy. I know it's fun to believe that we're all smarter than "the man," and that big evil corporations are out to get us, but it doesn't help our case ...

From the sound of things, the Potripper incident is newfound evidence that has not made it to the UB or AP official statements. I'm guessing that in the next couple of days, there will be different responses from AP and UB. I think they're responding to the cash game charges.

yeah, absolute thought that in addition to the millions they make from rakes and entry fees, and apparently well-hidden cheating, they'd suddenly take a shot at getting $30K in a tourney through a superuser account, and then send all the evidence to the person who lost heads up.

Re(3): KK two minutes into FTP 1K...what do you do ( ship happens hand )
yeah, here's what i don't get. ajk's point is that your goal is to maximize your hand with KK, not "avoid a cooler," and that four-betting with the KK gets rid of hands you have dominated. and all this assumes that both players are playing optimal strategy because it's early in the tournament, so they're both ruling out a move by their opponent. okay, fine. but: 1. if ship smooth calls, now he's out of position with no extra information. a. if the flop comes A X X, does he check fold because hoosier must have AKs' and then we talk about how he should have re-raised preflop to get rid of the ...

Re(3): Huge new IP info from the AP situation
<<<<<<Basically AP has a "block" of IP's. It is in my post on the second page. All of their servers will be from within this IP range. A lot of businesses have their mail server on the inside of their network. Most do. So in order to get email into and out of the server you have to allow the firewall to pass mail traffic directly to it. You need a static IP to do this. So... 66.212.244.147 is a static IP and it is spoken for on the AP firewall. Any uninitiated traffic coming into that IP on port 25 gets sent to the mail server. Well since that IP already lives on the ...

hey tmay...dallas jenkins here, we've met a few times and played deep together in that commerce tourney where you had your first top 5 finish. the hand is the hand, not a HUGE mistake, although i think pot control and a turn check would have been better. that said, what are you doing buying in to a 25/50 no limit game for $1k' that to me is the worst part of the story! :)

this shows nothing. for one thing, if they were cheaters, why would they play so many low limit satellites and then not cash in just as many big events' for another, the guys who play dozens of satellites always have results that show many wins and no cashes, because there's no results shown when they don't finish "first."

Of course people are going to speculate, and that's a good thing. It's not like people are making assumptions, they're just trying to speculate as to where he might be. There's nothing wrong with that. People who care about him who are reading this can tell the difference between a confirmed fact and someone asking a question. That said, is it possible he's at the EPT in Barcelona'

Re(5): Worst beat i have ever taken....jeez, how could i have played this differentI sm
Horrible beat, of course, but I have to agree the preflop play was bad. The limp is one thing, but the call after two others called the raise is begging for a bad beat. Maybe not a beat of biblical proportions like what that was, but still... And keep in mind, it wasn't a one-outter. It was a two outer--the other three beats you as well. Who hasn't lost two a two-outter dozens of times'

Re(4): For everyone who laughed at my KK preflop laydown before
I started a thread a few days ago talking about how I folded pocket kings preflop to David Pham. And I still think I'm right, based on the situation. And it's the second time I've folded KK preflop in my one year poker "career" (first time I was right, too). But even I have to say that folding KK preflop in a four handed game is a smidge on the bizarre side. Having said that, I once went all-in with KK preflop in a three-handed game because "that's what you're supposed to do." And I had a strong indication the other guy had AA...and he did. I was SB--I raised minimum, the other guy ...

Can anyone give the details' Starting chips for each site, as well as time of blind levels' I've played UB my whole "career," and I like the blind structure a lot. Plus, I like that there are better players. There are still a few fish, which is good, but there aren't SO many that you can't play normal. I can beat a table with three donkeys--I can't beat a table of 6 or 7. It's why I stopped playing live cash limit at the casinos--I'm waiting until I can afford to do 10/20 limit, because the players at 6/12 and under are so bad you can't beat them. Re(5): Laid down KK preflop to David Pham..
Regarding his gross overbet...I still think you're forgetting there was another guy in the hand. I actually said to Pham, "If you had Aces, why did you bet so much' Why not just re-raise normal'" And his answer was what mine would have been. He pointed to Mickey "Mouse" (a pro) and said, "Two people in hand, I can't lose to a set." Same thing with The Master in 2004 WSOP, when he went all-in on flop with AA, even though the pot wasn't huge...he wanted someone to pay huge for a suckout. I wish I would have done that on the turn against Pham when I had the top pair/top kicker against his flush ...

It's not like I was heads up against Pham...it was a big tourney and there were 9 players at the table...I didn't need to "outplay" him later to do well, I needed to survive and outplay others. You said you've laid down KK preflop because it was pretty obvious the other guy had AA. Therefore, you acknowledge there's a place for it, that sometimes your read can be trusted. I was there, I saw him do it, and yes, I've seen him play before. I also sat next to him for the next ten hours and he showed me the vast majority of his hands.
