Studying habits and learning equity
So no bothering with how say JTs plays against a range' Also if someone c-bets say 80% of their range, how do you know which 80% they are c-betting' Is it safe to assume their remaining range is depolarized until you see differently'

Studying habits and learning equity
Thank you Carl. My question was more of "what's the best way to go about learning equity" just plugging hands into pokerstove over and over and over until it sticks, or is there another way'

Studying habits and learning equity
I've noticed lately that while I'm getting better at ranging people, I seriously need to learn how much equity I have in different spots and I had a couple of questions. 1) (ignore the merits of the play and focus on the question) if you flat a raise from mid pos with 67s and the flop is 62Q rainbow and your opponent cbets 1/2 pot which he will do 75% of the time and his range is 88+, KJo+,QJs+ without using pokerstove or flopzilla or any other program, how many of you can say within +/- 5% what your current equity is' 2) this is the most important question. How did you study to learn that' ...

Bovada and Leakbuster
Does leakbuster work with Bovada' I can convert all my hands but I was wondering if the analysis would be in a vacuum of my total hands or related to hands I have against other players. Basically it's not going to say "you should be 3 betting player 2 more" is it, since like 300 people combined are player 2'

You're right, I've been on a downswing lately and it's probably clouding my judgement on some situations, they are 3 betting more than 50% of raised hands for sure, and I should start 4 betting. Even if I am losing some big pots, I have much tighter hand requirements than them and bloated pots with better starting hands are good for me

Say I have JJ, the flop is Q74 rainbow, if I bet the pot, I will get called or 3 bet almost every time. Against 1 player I am fine, against 2, one of them playing Qx is normal, any other high card is not good, and any low card brings a straight, a straight draw, or a possible 2 pair. I am not happy because I don't know how to deal with 2 random hands. Playing in position against both will be hard as I will either be sandwiched or pop against both most of the time. Is 3 betting viable if I am getting reraised or flatted 100% of the time by at least 1 if them' Either way I am playing a ...

I live in West Texas where all the oil is, but you will be close to the Wynn. I know some of the guys I play with playing handful of games near DFW. What stakes are you looking for, and are you only playing NLHE or do you play Omaha as well' Big Mitt (5 card Omaha) is big around Texas too, but I don't play it personally

So I regularly play at this 1/2 game (which is more like 2/5 since people but in for 400-500 and raise 10-15 pre flop) and out of the 30 or so regulars, 3 are maniac gamblers. They will make it 25 in a 4 way limped pot and 3 and 4 bet with air, bloating pots pre flop and basically push people around. My normal way of dealing with them if one is at my table is to just flat any raise in position and play with them post flop by pot controlling and check calling since their Cbet range is huge and I can get paid off with only tptk. Tonight two of them were at my table with 600 stacks and in almost ...

It does. Someone from there mentioned shoot outs before, but they don't play poker so I assumed they meant a shoot out tournament format, where each table plays down to 1 winner then combines.

Poker rooms in Montana, or Oregon
So my wife has gotten multiple job offers and we may be moving soon. I would like to know if there are any live cash games the community knows of near Dillon, MT; or Portland, OR. I am looking for cash games, and if they are no or spread-limit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know Portland has card clubs that run tournaments but I can not find anything on cash games there.

Cash game advice for my local game to increase my win rate
There is a local game where the blinds are 1/2 but everyone buys in for 300-500. It is a 10 man table and a limpfest. The general wisdom is to just just keep raising until you find an amount to punish the limpers, and while this works at most games, it doesn't here. If you raise to 15, you get 7 callers, if you raise to 20 you get 7 callers. If you raise to 25, you only get the blinds or reraised by KK+. I've been testing this sizing for weeks and comparing notes with another player, and we both have gotten the same result. The players at the table with limp with any two (including KK), and ...

What is your best live tell
If someone asks "Will you show if I fold" it usually means they have something marginal, but if you insta "no" they may call out of spite. The biggest clues I've found to look for which Navarro talks about are pacifying behaviors like rubbing the back of their neck, or wringing their hands, etc. It means they are stressed. Most players I see do this when weak, but I've seen players do it when strong and they are nervous you won't call. The key is figuring out which player type it is. I've never seen the same player pacify when weak and also later when strong. It's one or the other in my ...

1-2 live cash game approach to this situation
I will be the first to admit it is weird and frustrating. In this particular live 1/2 cash game these people don't say "He bet $19" or he "raised to $20" they say "hmmm 3 red chips and 4 white....I can call that" or "4 red chips' That's too much." This game is not happening in a casino, it's a well run home game with people who make 6 figures a year and play 1/2 NLHE for fun and to them it's like playing .01/.02. There is a pool of 90ish players all over 40 aside from myself and 2 others. These guys have been playing since the 70's and have never changed their styles or thought processes. ...

1-2 live cash game approach to this situation
Let me clarify Gags. When I bet the turn, I expect this specific opponent in the SB to fold QJ or T8, just about everyone else at the table would call. You are completely right about betting smaller and hoping to get more callers. I feel like a moron looking at your comment. Why WOULD I want to drive them out' If the flush hits I can lay it down easily and and if it doesn't I could bet big and definitely get called by a few of them which equates to more money. Thanks for the very obvious statement. Reading back over this that last sentence may come off as sarcasm, but I assure you it's not.

1-2 live cash game approach to this situation
So I have pocket 3's in the BB and the entire table limps. The flop is 8d 3s Qs. A few things about this table. Extremely loose. If I don't bet here it's getting checked down 100% of the time. There is $20 in the pot (10 handed). SB checks, I bet out $20 because I will get 5-7 callers with a bet of $19 or less. folds to the SB who calls. He would call with any flush draw, any Queen and maybe 10's and Jacks (and no he would not raise with 10's or Jack's pre UTG). Turn comes 4s. SB checks. If I check the SB will bet out any hand on river. If I bet I am only getting called by a flush or MAYBE As ...

Article: Poker on TV: Time for a Change?
Bring back celebrity poker and edit the show to fit within an hour or two block. Anyone who knows anything about poker will understand they are editing the footage, but the average viewer won't care. What's important for the game is to get people interested in it again and then they'll start playing more cause they saw it on tv. Get entertaining hosts like Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak who have knowledge of the game AND are entertaining. Also, for the love of God show something other than hold'em and put some production value in it. People would play other games if they were familiar with ...

Range this old man with me
I would guess his range would be JJ+ AJo+ but some old nitty regulars would wait until until they had KK, AA or AKs to shove on you. Yes, he could be getting frustrated by your 3bets but he could also just nit up even more and min bet when he has a premium hand and shove thinking he'd been patient and finally caught you. Just my 2 cents on live older players, they are just as likely to super nit it up in order to "teach you a lesson" when he has a premium holding as they are to get frustrated and shove to your 3-bet with 1010.

Going Pro live help
Thanks everyone. I'm not going to play BJ or slots, or roulette or flush my BR some other way, that's just not me. I'm a nit, lol. I exercise every day and try to eat healthy. I never drink when I play. My main concern is how to best improve from game to game or week to week other than simply making a book on the players I'm playing against as far as tells and tendencies go, and writing down a few hand histories to review each session. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.
