If we're going to get on the subject of dirty players, how about Smith swinging his stick at Richards stomach here at 0:14 or coming at his ref looking like he's about to deliver a tomahawk chop at 0:25' After the chop on Brown in game 2, the cup check in game 3 or 4 and then this, I'd say he's well on his way to becoming a dirty player that's one of the most hated in the NHL.

I think a Kings vs Rangers final would be awesome. The Rangers are the only team that really scared me going into these playoffs aside from the Kings themselves. Going against Lundqvist over a 7 game series is no easy task no matter how bad the Rangers may play or how good the opponents play. Him and Quick just have something in them that the other pretenders (Elliott, Smith, Luongo, etc) don't and it allows them to completely carry their team. If the Rangers get by the Devils and the Kings by the Coyotes, I think we see a 7 game series for the cup.

As a fan, I can say I had pretty much given up on this season. I didn't think a new coach would be able to turn it around this quickly. Especially a coach that runs a pretty similar style. Whatever he's told the guys in the locker room is working though. For the first time ever, I watch the game expecting a win from the opening drop and don't even get nervous at all. Usually I need 2-3 shots by the time the 1st period is over.

I know there was concern about committing to the idea the Kings had "found their offense." Is anyone still concerned' They are a legit threat. Offense, Defense, and Goaltending are all 3 clicking right now. All 4 lines are rolling. Imagine if they could do something on the power play. So pumped for the games Thurs & Sun. I'm still hoping for a Kings vs Rangers final. I want to see if they can go through the #1, 2, & 3 teams from the regular season to win the cup.

3 goals per game since February 23 leads me to believe that they've found their offense. Including playoffs that's 30 games. Just about half a season. The suites available are from the people who buy them for a year primarily for the Lakers. They sell them for everything else.

They have 4 key guys locked up for a long time: Richards - 2020, Carter - 2022,Kopitar - 2016, Doughty - 2019 Brown is here for 2 more super cheap years and will most likely take another hometown discount to extend. He's just that type of guy. Williams is signed for 3 more years fairly cheap. If he continues with his current production and stays healthy, they have 5 out of their top 6 signed. Quick will be due for a big raise (deservedly so) but Penner and Stoll come off the books after the playoffs. That's 7.8mil extra to spend there. The Rangers have the odds against them. No team has ever played 14 games in the first 2 rounds and won the 3rd round. I picked them to make it out of the East in my bracket so I'm going to stick with them. I think it will be a hell of series based on how they played each other in the regular season. Rangers in 6. Official First Round of NHL Playoffs Thread
Nashville, LA & Phoenix have now made the playoffs in 3 consecutive years in a tight western conference playoff race. I'd say it's fair to consider them part of the "usual suspects" list of teams now. I do understand that playing on the west coast along with the lack of a winning tradition hurts LA & Phoenix. The lack of a winning tradition also hurts Nashville from being on that list. If you go back to preseason though, everyone fully expected LA and Nashville to be where they are at now. Phoenix was thought to be on a downward trend and St Louis came out of nowhere to be a very tough team.

If you look at how the Western Conference teams were playing down the stretch, it's not that surprising to see LA, Nashville & St Louis advancing. Phoenix is a bit of surprise if they hold on to beat Chicago. They were the top 4 teams based on goal differential down the stretch and that's pretty much the name of the game isn't it' Out score your opponents and you'll keep on playing. Winning Percentage: 1. I guarantee if they turn around their offensive struggles and average 2.50 goals per game from here on out and make the playoffs, they'll be the team that nobody wants to play. 2.50 goals per game is just middle of the road offensively. They have the defense and goaltending that it takes to win championships. They are dead last in scoring but still in the thick of the playoff battle.

I doubt they are/were in play for Nash. Dregger said earlier when word about the Carter deal broke that Columbus was not interested in Bernier. I don't think Nash would waive his ntc to come to offensively challenged LA. I just got some tickets to this Saturday's game vs Chicago. It'll be fun to see Carter in action with Richards. All we need now is for Gagne to get healthy and LA Flyers will be ready to go.

As a Kings fan I like Johnson for Carter. I hope the reports that it includes a 1st rd pick are wrong or that it's the 1st in 2013. We already traded our 2nd & 3rd this year. Even Carter may not help turn the scoring woes around in time to make the playoffs. That 1st could be a decent pick if we continue to struggle and we'll need it to add to some of the depth we've traded away. It was already reviewed and determined that Clifford will not be suspended. As for the hit being dirty, I totally disagree. If you watch the clock during the play you'll see that Brule let go of the puck at 6:24 and was hit at 6:24. Clifford kept his elbows down, did not leave the ice with his skates, did not target the head, and did not hit from behind. The reason it looked so bad is because Brule stopped to admire his pass. Even though Phoenix scored on the powerplay to tie the game, this hit is far from the reason that the Kings lost the game. 3-0 and 4-2 blown leads are the reason they ...

Losing Smyth didn't hurt as much as it may seem. His heart was in Edmonton and he is playing his heart out right now. He didn't give the effort hear that he is this year back home. We pretty much traded Smyth and Simmonds for Richards and Gagne. Both of them are putting up much better numbers than what we got from the other 2 guys last year. The problem with the Kings this year is pretty much everyone else is sucking. Kopitar is putting up similar numbers to last year.
